Play on a laptop, that's what I do. You might not be able to run all of the highest settings, or get the HD Texture packs (I compensate with Shader Suites), I know my desktop certainly can, but using a laptop is just so much more convenient. You don't have to lug and connect your PC tower to the TV and pack it all up once you're done.
You can play without worrying about changing settings to better suit the resolution since it just ports the image to the TV and if other people need to use it, you don't have to stop playing.
Also, and this is really lazy of me, but it's much easier to cook something using the oven while playing Skyrim. Really useful when you've got something for ~30-45 minutes and inbetween that 30-45 minute period, you need to check every couple of minutes to see whether it's properly cooked.
Yeah, I'm awful. No need to tell me.
But the lappie is why I probably can't handle the HD texture packs. Still, a worthy trade off.
I did have a laptop a few years ago, when I was moving around a lot at Uni, but I switched to a custom made desktop with a smaller HD moniter, which has served me very well. But, with my cooking skills, a laptop in the kitchen is just asking for disaster... I can cook very well suprisingly, but I make a bit of a mess at times.
Although Kitchen gaming is interesting, who said men can't multi task! Now, if you'll now excuse me I've dropped hot coffee on my trousers whilst trying to type at the same time as drinking.
