Why would you think the task was an indirect attempt to kill the Dragonborn? Galmar gave my character some powerful poison and a frost resistance potion to help with killing the Ice Wraith, and the meat saleswoman in Riften says that killing Ice Wraiths is a common initiation rite for Nords.

EDIT: He also said "Try not to get killed" after giving me the poison and potion - and apparently Ulfric and Galmar made a bet over whether or not you would come back alive, in which Ulfric bet that you would.

Plus, they keep coming up with names for the Dragonborn. Ice-Veins, Bone-Breaker, Storm-Blade.

On Twitter we agreed that all that was missing was for Galmar to say "and now we call you Ball Breaker."

Don't feel bad I've got over 700 hours into the game and 2 play throughs with 2 different characters and I don't remember a place called the Divine Lodge. I must be missing something some where. Wonder whwere its located at?

Make that the "Divine Lodge"; some call it the Hall of Valor in Sovngarde. But this aged memory recalls it the simpler way....

And the Eldest Dragon sometimes became invulnerable if I used a reload after clearing the fog and mist. FYI.

Ulfric Kitty is still way more BAMF than that weenie Tullius.

Random note about stealth characters- don't forget when you've changed Aura Whisper out for Fus Ro Dah or whirlwind sprint. Cuz that's a bummer.

Trust me I always check ot see which shout I've got selected before I use it.<G> After all it is a good way to blow your cover.<G>

This mod via the SKSE is a must. It boosted my FPS in the cities by about 10 FPS, so places like Markarth and looking down at Whiterun from Dragonsreach run so much smoother.

Cities could dip into the low 20s for me before, but now they're staying at around 30 at worst.

This has been mentioned before, but I'm as dumb as they come when it comes to installing mods without the mod manager.  Could someone post a guide? Preferably with step-by-step screenshots for the tech Illiterate, like me? Pretty please? :innocent:

Probably been discussed ad nauseam, but...

Skyrim does so much right, but there is a thing or two Bethesda can learn from Bioware in terms of conveying emotion and cinematic presentation. One thing Skyrim is missing is characters actually displaying emotion when talking. Facial expressions, eyes widening, etc. Bioware has mastered this lately.

Other than that minor flaw...I am just consumed by Skyrim.

Im actually kinda done with Skyrim for about 6 months until they give us a patch that fixes everything they broke about the game...Was playing one of my character's last night, and started Alduin's Wall. Half-way through the quest, when you get to Skyhaven Temple, Delphine and Esbern decide that they're just going to stand around like lemmings and not do anything once we got to the actual wall.

Tried reloading my save...nothing. Tried waiting 1 hour, 2 hours, even 24 hours....Nothing. I tried about half a dozen other trouble shooting solutions...Nothing. So, I decided to delete the data as it was most likely corrupt and decided at that point that Im kinda tired of all of Skyrim's issues atm. So, until they release some kind of DLC, Im pretty much done with it. All these bugs popping up are making me almost as disappointed with this game as I was FO:NV.....Almost.

The good news, at least we have Star Wars: The Old Republic now and at least I still have Dark Souls as well. Seeing as how the wife is playing Star Wars atm, Im going to fire up Dark Souls lol :)

It is definitely a long and drawn out quest and it would not be so bad if it was not for the fact that it takes up 20 lbs of your weight limit. But that crown is awesome looking and yes I wish I could walk around with it going, "Hey look at me in my foo foo hat! I earned this and you did not! nener!" But the reward you get for completing it is way worth it. I am officially the richest person in Skyrim now.

I got my house in Windhelm last night and I am seriously thinking of bejeweling it with Diamonds, Rubies, Emeralds, and Sapphires. Garnets will be sold for all of the Horker lined furniture as everyone knows, Horker leather is soooo supple to the touch. The Beggars have to have quality for their bottoms when they come to dinner every Fredas because afterall the new Beggar Prince has to take care of her ppl. :innocent:

Yeah, some dungeons are real creep-fests, especially if occupied by necro- or any type of arch-mages without adult supervision for any length of time.

Torture, murder, imprisonment, experimentation (saw a dead giant on the slab of some Hagraven in a camp somewhere), blood, body parts...you name the crime.  Makes dual wielding a Holy Ebony War Axe and Ebony War Axe of Damnation [quite the ironic pair], and clearing out some of these places with "great vengeance and furious anger," a very cathartic event.

Falmer are far less creepy than some of these conjuror and mage wingnuts you run across.  I like to think of my Nord as a sort of medieval version of a behavior modification specialist for the more extreme cases among the socially challenged.

Aye, there are some extremely gruesome "decorations" laying about in the dungeons around Skyrim. There was a sunken tower west of Riverwood full of necromancers who seemed to have a fetish for stripping skulls of their flesh (some of which didn't look like they're weren't quite "finished") and sticking them on pikes in threes.

The citizens of Skyrim have some rather macabre pasttimes, it seems.

Oh god, that bastard was a real sicko. I spared no expense in ending his wicked little life. He can join Eola, Calixto, and all of the other sick bastards who have met their ends at my hand.

I feel your pain... It does seem like the further you get into the game the more devastating it becomes when you run across these "bugs" and I myself have gotten to the point where I am so completely deflated by it that I think, "I am done for a while!"

But the problem is, I turn it off, go load up another game or watch some show on TV or decide to catch up on messageboards/e-mails and the whole time I cannot get this freakin' game out of my head. Usually in about 45 mins to an hour I am loading it back up and right back at it again.

It is such an amazing game even with the bugs that you cannot stop playing it. IF they added the emotional connection btwn the NPCs and PC that Bioware has AND followed up/continued unique interaction with the PC on storylines I would never do anything else but zone out in front of this game for the rest of my life. So maybe it is a good thing that it is cold and unfeeling on that lvl because ppl would literally login and never come back.
