The Necropheliac guy?  Oh god yes.  Unfortunately  (or fortunetely, depending how you look at it)  Bethesda dropped the ball on that one and  ruined a perfect horror story by making his lair  completely steril.  It's a snow-covered white cave.        What were they thinking?  A  ghastly personality like Yngvild should have lived in one of those ancient, dirty, blood-smeared crypts, or better yet, an abandoned  castle with a cob-webbed prison  and  dim candle light and   some decent mood music.

Aye, there are some extremely gruesome "decorations" laying about in the dungeons around Skyrim. There was a sunken tower west of Riverwood full of necromancers who seemed to have a fetish for stripping skulls of their flesh (some of which didn't look like they're weren't quite "finished") and sticking them on pikes in threes.

The citizens of Skyrim have some rather macabre pasttimes, it seems.

Oh god, that bastard was a real sicko. I spared no expense in ending his wicked little life. He can join Eola, Calixto, and all of the other sick bastards who have met their ends at my hand.

After the first journal entry I sat there the whole time with my jaw dropped to the ground because I could not believe the depravity of this psycho. That is one quest that will stick with me forever and not in a good way.

I think the snowy covered ice castle is what made it even more depraved. You NEVER saw it coming because of the winterwonderland scenic view. It was on a Ted Bundy lvl. Pretty on the outside and soooo evil on the inside.

That's just creepy, standing there watching a couple sleep :P

Like a scene from a recent movie.

Does Lydia comment on the environment or quests? I think I heard her saying something about runes, but I might have been delirious from playing so long.

The only "environment"-based comments I've ever heard from Lydia are the standard, all-purpose ones that all your permanent companions make: When you discover a cave she'll say "oh look, a cave. Wonder what's inside". Or when you break into someone's locked house she'll say: "you shouldn't be in here!"

Ugh, that damn backwards-flying dragon glitch is finally negatively affecting my game. I can't kill a Blood Dragon for a bounty because the damn thing keeps moonwalking away from me every time I try to get close to it.

I tried clearing my 360 cache to get rid of the patch, but it won't let me play on my file now without it. Damn you, Bethesda!

EDIT: Erm... well... patch 1.3 apparently fixes that little problem. Yes, I totally knew about that... and stuff.

Mjoll has ambient dialogue for certain environmental occasions, I didn't have Lydia long enough to hear all of hers though.

For instance, Mjoll will say, and I paraphrase:

"Look for rune traps on the walls and floors or this will be a short expedition."

"Let's kill these conjurors quickly before they summon something we don't want to deal with."

"Conjuror's make my stomach turn/skin crawl..."

"There are Dragr about, I can smell the decay in the air."

She also has a Dwemer Ruin line and a couple of others I can't recall at present.

Anyone here no if there's a "point" in joining the Thieves Guild froma Nord role-playing view? Everyone I meet in Riften says that it's garbage and everything in between and as a Nord player it seems kinda dumb for him to join a "low class organization". My character is proud warrior and would never do something shallow as joining the Thieves Guild.

So my question, does it pay off to join the Thieves Guild? I'm not talking about loot, but through a story perspective. Does the Thieves Guild become recognizable if you finish that specific quest line?

After a few untimely deaths from my Dark Elf, and just before the reload, the killer would ask me to turn off Ancestor's Wrath before returning; still cracks me up....

Don't join if your roleplaying as a proud warrior, but the positives of joining the guild are fences you can sell stolen loot to, trainers for sneak, archery, speechcraft, lockpicking, easy gold, ability to bribe guards for minor offences, rare weapons, armor and three perks to choose from. So far i only had guards in different holds comment on wearing TG armor, someone else could probably give a more detailed answer to  the last question.

One of the main reasons my first character joined the TG was to improve it. While he was not a Nord, he desired a better organized approach, and as the leader of the Dark Brotherhood with ties to the TG amyway, I chose to lead them, too. That worked out fairly well for me.

Sadly, Maven Black-Briar appears to be invulnerable, at least when pursuing the Imperial path. And ironically, she is more upset if you get caught stealing from her than any attempt at murder. I stole Frost from her with permission, yet had to deal with hired thugs later when trying to join the College in Winterhold. All I took was the horse... and that unique gem sitting on one of the tables; think that was it?...

I didn't know people would send thugs after you for taking Unusual Gems. I should've had a whole army of those guys come down on me if that's true. :o

I think it's because he stole the horse from Maven's stable.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I ratted Letrush out to Maven and let him keep the horse (I have Shadowmere - to hell with Frost), so I guess she didn't feel the need to have me beat down by thugs.

The only time I had thugs come after me was when I robbed Faendal's house - not for his valuables but just out of sheer spite. I hate that guy.

I killed the thugs and impaled Faendal with my sword, of course. Sven was happy. XD

I cleared out this gold mine  near Markarth of Forsworn, and mined it for said gold. Lo and behold the owner who i cleared out the mine for sends thugs after me. Lol @ Faendal.

I much rather help Faendale than some Nordic lounge singer *grumbles something about the all night music and Ragnar the Red*

Plus the Archer kessons are terrific in the lower lvls!

Seems like the option to "clean up" Riften should be available. Feels wrong to me that it just sits there like a sore thumb in the game with a boy scout Nord, overpowered beyond all reason, and yet Riften remains...Riften, with Maven BB and the TG plot armored like nobody's business.

I mean, we can wipe out the DB, why not the TG? I get roleplaying the thief and assassin, but what about the Dudley Do-Right types. I would have thought it would have been the Dark Brotherhood that would have been fenced from annihilation, not the Thieves' Guild.

LOL. My Dragonborn is a true, blue Nord who has a bit of a chip on his shoulder towards Aldmeri Dominion races - so he gladly helped Sven and put the Wood Elf back in his place.

Of course, he kept visiting Camilla every morning anyway - so I robbed his house, then killed him.

It'd be funny to swoop in an marry Camilla and leave them both in the dust, but I'd rather marry Aela the Huntress or Muiri... or both for a little menage a trois, if that were an option. Lulz.

It almost makes me think that maybe they had that as an option but it was possibly cut. The fact that Mjoll is around in Riften and is an unkillable NPC trying to clean up Riften adds to my suspicion. Maybe there was some quest where you could go with Mjoll to take down the Blackbriars and the Thieve's Guild?

To be honest, I don't despise Maven as much as I did initially. As I got further down the Thieves Guild quest line, I actually came to respect her a bit. I also appreciate her not blowing my cover at the Diplomatic Immunity party - that was unexpected and very fortunate for my Dragonborn. LOL.

The only Black-Briar I'd really want to see dead is Sibbi. He's a scumbag of the highest order.

Not sure exactly what you're asking.  My Nord is a thief and has no shame.   In terms of story, I liked it, and yes people do comment to the effect of "the Thieves' Guild is back" once you finish the quest line.  Which really doesn't finish when you finish, since there are radiant quests and more rewards even after you're technically done.

As always, I make these decisions on a roleplay basis, not rewards.  You do get nice armors- the nicest in the game IMO.  You make some coin, but not scads like you'd think.

I prefer that you don't see that sort of dramatic thing.  It's more realistic that life goes on even though you get the perception you can do anything.

One thing I liked in the Thieves' Guild quest line is the philosophical stuff about "lady luck."  It reinforces that you're really not all that.  Though I imagine Maven's plot armor is because they wanted to show a mixed result from a Stormcloak victory.

I kind of wish there had been faction choices in Skyrim like in New Vegas.

One thing I LOVED about New Vegas was how each faction viewed you in different manners and referenced what choices you made in regards to them.

Like that one Powder Ganger in Nipton:
"Great I get my legs broken and run into the Power Gangers Grim ****ing Reaper"

Skyrim I loved for its lore but in all honesty Bethesda really does not focus on gigantic choices like Obsidian does really.

It is kind of a negative point for me but I can get over it.
Also a good RP way to justify joining groups is that as you learn Dovahs enjoy gaining power and dominance all over the place. You can just say that it is your PCs very nature to gain power and control over the land.

I mean in under a year of game time you can:
Lead the Dark Brotherhood, the Thieves, The Mages, and the Companions.
Become a WAR HERO.
Become a Thane across all nine holds.
Champion about 15 Daedric princes
Oh and Punch Out the son of a god in viking HEAVEN.

Its like....okay in under a year you have built so much power up its kind of scary to think what you could do in a decade.
