I destroyed the dark brotherhood, but now looking back at other people's playthroughs I feel like I'm missing a lot

I don't mind being an assassin for a government lets say, but it just feels morally wrong to work for a group that takes contracts for hire

Should I reload a save and join the DB?

You can do both.   You can join them, do a few of their quests, get Shadowmere, then take the quest to wipe them out.

On a related note, is it just my warped nature, or does   joining the Thieves Guild  feel  far more morally harsh than joining the Dark Brotherhood?

The DB asks you to kill all these annoying Scum NPCs that almost always deserve to die anyway.  But by contrast, the Thieves guild asks you to Frame (and put out of business) a completely innocent merchant;  Then they ask you to threaten and blackmail another one,  and in the meantime, they force you to help out one of the most deserving-of-death people in the entire game (Maven Black-Briar)

You know I really LOVED doing the TG quest line after I got into it a ways but when I first started out I had already joined the DBH and had done a few of the first couple of contracts by then. I felt no qualms at all with any of the assignments for the DBH but the first 4 or 5 assignments from the TG I literally turned to my husband and was like, "WTH?! That is f'd up right there!" and I felt really guilty.

Especially knowing about Maven who to me other than Frodnar in Riverwood has to be THE most evil and deserving to die character in the entire game in my opinion. I was not at all surprised to see her at the Thalmor Embassy that is for sure. AND the other thing I find amusing is that she spent so much coin and effort trying to get the DBH to kill me considering I am already in the DBH was just really icing on the cake.

That being said, you turn the TG around and you definitely turn them in the right direction sort of... I really think the ball was dropped on that storyline. There are a lot of potential quests there that were never carried out and the whole no one saying anything to you again after you make Guildmaster really irked me. I think Bethesda got sidetracked and never came back to add to that group. Or many others for that matter. Maybe they will make it a dlc project.... *fingers crossed* I know that is probably ridiculous to hope for after the Bioware experience.

As for the DBH, I had stopped doing my contracts for a bit when I discovered that killing a lot of the assignments had implications on doing other quests. Then I found out through the grapevine that a lot of the ppl I had already killed really did nothing that bad to be killed over. And the assignment that was still in my list uncompleted was so tragic. It was made out of pure jealousy and ends up destroying an entire family who did nothing wrong but mourn for the loss of their daughter. That being said, I still plan on joining up with them again in my second playthrough because the gear is awesome and Cicero is a blast. It is just crazy the things that drive ppl to want to murder their friends and family.

I just killed 75 bandit living in a dungeons 10 time the size of Solitude. I visited fort which were more populated than Whiterun and I killed them all. I actually massacred so many bandit .. I am the only one that seem to think it's make no sense?

There's a civil war so why it's so easy to walk right next to Ulfric? WHy take the civil quest ? Just go to windhelm and kill him.

I need answer outside of 'it's a video game' . WHen a video game will make sense?

In origins I actually killed everything in the Deep Roads. There's nothing left but dead corpse ....  Yet the lore tell of a place of great danger....

and that arrogant Jarl that think he's important ruling over 10 people and 3 cabin.. Guess what ... I just killed 50 time more bandit living in rundown fort.

No one will notice that I just killed 5000 people inside  4 month on a 8 Mile square country.
Actually forgot I said anything...

LOL  Frodnar was redeemed for me when I followed Ralof all the way to Riverwood.  There's a little scene with Gerdur's family and he's all happy to see his uncle.

I was not at all surprised to see her at the Thalmor Embassy that is for sure.

It sounds like you're expected to as anyone in the empire.  I asked Ravencrone about being there and she said she avoids the Thalmor "when she can."  She also said of them something like, "there are lies of what you say and lies of what you do not say- these people are adept at both."  Helpful when reading the dossiers you find inside.

When does the reasoning behind politics ever make sense? And usually the higher you go up the political food chain the less likely you are to find competence or reason.

You know I thought she (Ravencrone) was just a batty old woman when I first met her and she was a little too much into keeping Morthal in the darkness but after doing Diplomatic Immunity I realized what a wise and inciteful woman she was. That one scene made me fall in love with her completely. And you are right it is unavoidable but not everyone there fit in so perfectly as Maven. But not really all that surprising after the initial shock and REALLY getting to know everything that is Maven.

That second part of a contract is Optional. I didn't do it. No reason to. The contract was on a scumbag that made the world a better place by leaving it. The Optional Target, for a lousy bonus, after I had talked to the target's family before joining the DB and having helped them with their mourning, ought to be the Contractor...  like in some other DB quest further ahead, if you want to fulfill the last wish of a dying person... a very important moribund!

BTW got a quick question for which I was wondering and hoping someone here had the asnwer for it as I keep getting receipes for it but after 700 hrs of playing the game have yet to find it. Where is the Atronach Forge at? Does anyone in fact know?

I think you must have skill level 90 in one of the magic schools to be able to start the quest that takes you to the Atronach Forge.

nope, ive been there and my magic skils don't go above 60. you practically run past it when you follow the college of winterhold questline Image IPB

hmm. I guess we may find it but we can't really use it then:

From UESPwiki:

The Midden's main feature is the Atronach Forge. Near it, the book Atronach Forge Manual can be found, along with the components to create the atronach recipes within. It refers to other Atronach Forge Recipes scattered about Skyrim.

A mysterious link to Oblivion

Having a Conjuration skill of 90 will allow the Conjuration Ritual Spell quest from Phinis Gestor to be started, which will lead to the missing object that fits into the setting on the forge, a Sigil Stone. Some recipes require this object.

Yeah the Guide book says 90 as well but in my playthrough I had to get the school to 100 before I got the quests. Although not with Alteration so maybe it is a patch bug that is requiring skill 100 to get the Master lvl spell quests. And yes you can use the Atronach Forge for simple recipes like summoning Atronachs that want to kill you but to make the Daedric gear, spell tomes, etc. you have to have a Sigil Stone.

I think
Breton, Imperial, Redguard, Nord - Same grunt
khajiit, Argonian - Same grunt
Bosmer, Dunmer, Altmer - Same grunt
Dunno about Orc

I haven't heard a Khajiit, Orc or Argonian shout but other than that, all male shouts sound the same.  Females as well.

I like how the Draugr just gargle the Fus Ro Da

I got the master level conjuration quest at 90.

Actually forgot I said anything...

I can give you an answer.  A few answers, really.

First off, a lot of your numbers there are grotesque exagerations.  You most certainly did NOT kill 5000 people, unless you include Draugrs, Dwemer automations and Falmer as people, and even then,  you probably still  didn't kill more than about 1500...combined.  (there's a  counter on your stat screen that will tell you how many of each type of enemy you've killed.  Use that and get back to us.)

Second, have you actually tried  just walking into the Hall of Kings and Killing Ulfric?  Much easier said than done.  He's insanely well defended.  Try it for yourself.  Then tell us if you managed to last more than 30 seconds against his  first wave of guards, his mage, etc.

Third, can you give me the name of the Bandit-infested Dungeon in this game that is 10 times the size of Solitude?

Fourth, If I'm not mistaken, the smallest towns that have their own Jarl in this game  are Morthal, Falkreath, and Dawnstar.  And all three have have more than a dozen "cabins" each, and more than 10 townspeople living in them.

I mean sure, it's really easy to make up a bunch of numbers in your head then conclude that they don't make sense.  But forget the numbers;  Because  they don't matter anyway.  Your character's not supposed to be  a normal guy with normal accomplishments.  He's different.  He's a Dovakiin.  He's supposed to be able to  single-handedly kill  things that threaten whole kingdoms  (like dragons).  You're *above* the Jarls and the petty squabbles of this game's villages.  But  why you'd think this  constitutes something  nonsensical is beyond me.  Is this your first Fantasy  RPG?

Witch Doctor- Ooh Eeh Ooh Ah Aah Ting Tang Walla Walla Bing Bang

Just saying..

I didn't do the optional, either.  Muiri is a nutcase and even an assassin can see that.  Plus I didn't like the "throw in an extra" that she just assumes you'll do, when she's obviously not very well off.

As someone already posted, it only differs by sex and race.  When I'm fighting Nord females I can't tell if my character got wounded or they did.  lol

So, today was companion derp day.  Onmund triggered a trap and I went back to heal him, but forgot which button was which and punched him in the face instead.  For 2.0x sneak attack even.  *lolfacepalm*  Then I lost him jumping down some cliffs, and he re-appeared just in time to take an arrow in the gut that was aimed at a bandit, for an insta-kill.  Later we went to Blackreach and I lost track of him somewhere, figured he'd show up when I fast traveled.  He didn't, and when I was able to hire J'zargo I knew Onmund must be dead.  I re-loaded, because dying alone in Blackreach is about the worst fate I could imagine.  After that I fired him since the guy had had a really rough day.

Rage- Your right the weight of the ingridents due ad up real quick when your carrying it in your back pack. I learned that as well and was glad when I could buy the house in Whiterun and unload it all into the chest.

Also once you make your bow and have the 3x you'll be taking them out with one or 2 shots. I currently do with my daedric by and sneak 3x damage.

Eglyntine- I don't use posions as they are usually dead when they are hit with either my bow or daggers.<G> After all when you do aprox 400 damge from the bow and 24pts damage from the daedric arrow plus about 41 fire damage and your sneaking. Not much can take that much damage.

EDIT: Eglyntine- As for Cicero Yea I let him live and took him as a follower. Went strait up to Boethla and sacrificed his rear end there.<G>

Angryfrozenwater- I enjoy archery as well. But will have to admit that it's fun to sneak through a dungeon and back stab with a pair of daggers. Cleared out a couple fo foreswron areas and they didn't realize anyone was theere till they were all dead.<EG>

I'm using a mod that lightens crafted potions (not looted ones) and ingredients, also lightens dragon bones and scales. I still have encumbrance problems so it doesn't feel like a cheat.

After reading what you had posted about Onmund it was funny. He goes through all that mainly from the person that hired him in the first place. Than his employer fires him. I've had some bad bosses over the years but not one as bad as you.Image IPB

Now as for the mod you used for lightened created potions and indgridients. I don't use something like that there as I I don't carry them.Usually I go to one of my 4 houses and drop them off as soon as I can. Only thing I carry is a pair of daggers, bow, arrows, and about a dozen potions. With my full daedric  armor and weapons my carry weight is about 70 when I leave.

Rajiit is very angry that only M'aiq and other kats gets true Khajiit voice. Rajjit does not want a Nord shouting for him. Therefore Rajjit decided that he will not shout at all in his passage through Skyrim. Rajiit could care less about Dragons attacking human settlements. He will slay Dragons because it is fun but he will never go to the Greybeards. The Way of the Voice is not a Khajiit's voice!

Firing was just giving him some time off. Poor kid needed it.

As a non-mage in light armor, potions are pretty important in tough battles.

It feels wrong for the Dragonborn to be anything but a Nord.  I don't think I'm going to enjoy playing any other race.

I ALWAYS sacrifice the Executioner from Solitude.  I'll substitute an Altmer if I could find one.
