Its location is completely random as far as I know. In my first playthough, I fount it in some cave near Whiterun.. Never found it on my second playthrough though.Fenris_13 wrote...

I mean sure, it's really easy to make up a bunch of numbers in your head then conclude that they don't make sense. But forget the numbers; Because they don't matter anyway. Your character's not supposed to be a normal guy with normal accomplishments. He's different. He's a Dovakiin. He's supposed to be able to single-handedly kill things that threaten whole kingdoms (like dragons). You're *above* the Jarls and the petty squabbles of this game's villages. But why you'd think this constitutes something nonsensical is beyond me. Is this your first Fantasy RPG?
Part of this is flat technology. I was part of the assault on Whiterun by the Stormcloaks. It was me about 12 guys taking out a fortified city with relative ease. Does that make sense, no it doesn't but they can't put thousands of guys on screen and have them playout. Same with cities, no they aren't full size AC or Arkham Asylum style spaces because unlike those games there is more than one city in the game. The cities do a nice job of giving you the illusion of size - something DA2 utterly failed to do with Kirkwall. Toss in that medevial cities were nowhere near the size we think of as cities today and in scale they aren't bad.
There are things I have issues with. I've killed enough dragons to create a pile of bones to High Hrothgar. They're just too frequent and it makes no sense and has sucked the joy out of them. I'll also toss in the insanely vast number of bears I've butchered which should have denued the world of an apex ttype predator dozens of times over. I'm also close to finishing off my giant genocide campaign.

I think the destruction spell Incinerate works pretty well - using two hands for a concentrated hit against an enemy works pretty well for me, even at high levels, and I've even used it against dragons. I took the perks to increase fire damage as well. Like Elhanan said, Impact perk certainly helps.
Well if you max out destruction and get lightning storm that becomes the dragon killing spell to end all dragon killing spells. The fire/ice top end spells are good as long as there is no one you want to live near you.
Incinerate and the other destruction spells aren't much good after a point. While I've maxxed them out they are now basically support spells for the summoned critters who do most of the heavy lifting whejn it comes time to kill.

Firing was just giving him some time off. Poor kid needed it.
As a non-mage in light armor, potions are pretty important in tough battles.
Well you might be right there after all he did have a rought time there. And it only went down hill after you punched him out instead of healing him.<LOL>
I'm a non-mage myself as a matter of fact I think in all my hours of playing through the game I've only used maybe a dozen spells. You can become arch mage with only using 3 basic spells. Unlike the Thieves guild where you've got to use your theiving<sp?> talents to rise through the ranks and take over the guild.
Fennris-13- as far as that gem goes what I've always done is go to the statue to get the quest for the gem and then follow the map maker. Obtain the gem and go back. I've got 12 of 15 of the daedric quest done currently. Getting ready to go and get drunk with some guy.

The top perk on Archery tree is a chance for paralyze target; a very nice bonus occasionally.
Bethesda weekended the Magic, so I forced to use Archery. I'm at level 40 and my Ebony Bow does 98 Damage after smiting (without its fire perk).
The only reason I don't give up Skyrim is to finish the storylines and just the obsession of leveling up!
O good old Oblivion ... At least your Major-Minor skills and cons, dex, str, char, luck etc. was far more better.
Why should I learn EVERYTHING?!
If all my daedric bow did was 88 + fire I think I might give up the game as my bow does over 400 damage plus fire now counting the 24damage from my daedric arrows. And thats without the 3x's for sneak

You can't for that quest. There's no map marker to show you where the Gem is. And the "show on map" button is greyed out in your journal entry for it.Redneck1st wrote...

So much of me wanting her to look like a real Nord woman warrior should. Now she's trotting around in scaled armour. Bah. I might as well have used Ria as companion.

I kind of wish there had been faction choices in Skyrim like in New Vegas.
One thing I LOVED about New Vegas was how each faction viewed you in different manners and referenced what choices you made in regards to them.
Like that one Powder Ganger in Nipton:
"Great I get my legs broken and run into the Power Gangers Grim ****ing Reaper"
I really loved it when that happened. Walking into that store in Nipton, and my decimation of the Powder Gangers was acknowledged. Almost as good as asking Legate Lanius if Caesar was giving him orders from the grave...
I'm still surprised that no one in the Brotherhood of Steel would recognize the protagonist wearing Enclave armor, though. You would think that would raise some eyebrows...

Skyrim I loved for its lore but in all honesty Bethesda really does not focus on gigantic choices like Obsidian does really.
It is a little odd to hear Maven threaten to have the Dark Brotherhood kill you... when you're the Listener...
Giggles_Manically wrote...
It is kind of a negative point for me but I can get over it.
Also a good RP way to justify joining groups is that as you learn Dovahs enjoy gaining power and dominance all over the place. You can just say that it is your PCs very nature to gain power and control over the land.
Technically, you never become a leader of the Companions, only an "advisor," so I think it's less obstrusive than when the Champion of Cyrodiil could become the actual leader of the Fighters Guild and the Mages Guild. I think the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood is much easier to explain in either case, since both organizations are clandestine and illegal groups outside the purview of society.

I mean in under a year of game time you can:
Lead the Dark Brotherhood, the Thieves, The Mages, and the Companions.
Become a WAR HERO.
Become a Thane across all nine holds.
Champion about 15 Daedric princes
Oh and Punch Out the son of a god in viking HEAVEN.
Its like....okay in under a year you have built so much power up its kind of scary to think what you could do in a decade.
I would like to think that it takes a longer than that, even though I break up different accomplishments for different protagonists, and the official timeline will likely prove me wrong. I can't imagine my Tribunal mage mastered the four schools of magic in under a year, for instance.

Also to note is during the ILL MET BY MOONLIGHT quest is all the references to the Bloodmoon.
If we go get to go to Solstheim....and fight Hircine again i will die a happy fan boy.
I wonder how different it might be to head to Solstheim as the Champion of Hiricine, and you can start off as a werewolf this time around, too.

I crafted Aela the Huntress an entirely new suit of legendary Ancient Nord armour, complete with enchantments up the wazoo, and she doesn't want to wear it. The Helm of Yngol also looks like crap on her, since her hair clips through the back.

I had to take armor away and give it back a few times to get people to wear something other than the default. I've had it with armor and shields. Remove the armor, fast travel...give it back and see if she'll equip it.

I destroyed the dark brotherhood, but now looking back at other people's playthroughs I feel like I'm missing a lot
I don't mind being an assassin for a government lets say, but it just feels morally wrong to work for a group that takes contracts for hire
Should I reload a save and join the DB?
You could create a new character specifically to join the Dark Brotherhood, if you think it would be OOC for your current character.
