Has anyone been reading the books in Skyrim? I must say, there are some books that I find to be really good. Especially Immortal Bloods. One of my favourites.

There are some really excellent new books as well.

In fact, the other day I found a Choose Your Own Adventure Book, so I'm playing a game, inside a book, inside a game! And it was pretty good actually.

I like that one. Especially becuase it includes the dangers of staying at an inn when there are rampant racial tensions in the country. Rather serious issues there for a kids' book. Image IPB

So true. I planned to stop and read them all at some point but I never do so I read one between adventures. I've probably got them all by now, still many unread though. I remember some from previous TES games and some are pretty good indeed.

If we're flying a Dragon in a DLC/Mod, I hope they learn how to land! =)

I'm collecting the same book series I did in Morrowind, 2920 and Mystery of Princess Talara, but typically can't find the last elusive copies.

I also can't find Wolf Queen v6.

About 5 mins ago I just found vol. 6 in High Hrothgar, you might want to try there if you have not already looked.

I rolled up a Khajiit Thief, my husband thought it would be neat on his 4th playthrough, since I was up around 62 with my Dunmer and realized I kind of hosed myself on the perks I took I figured I would start one with him. I was not really keen on being a cat. I just could not wrap my head around a Dragonborn cat. I always looked at shouting for a cat like Simba figuring out how to roar and it was too laughable.

It has been a totally different experience this time around for some reason and I have actually liked being a cat. It is just as much fun but discovering things I missed the first time around and taking a different path than I did before has been a blast.

The sad thing is that I still had not completed the Main Quest, the Civil War Quest, Dark Brotherhood past the second assignment or any of the other main type quests so I still have that to discover as well.

The mages in Skyrim all seem to be just as crazy as the ones in Kirkwall, every single one I've encountered outside of the College of Winterhold and the Court Wizards has attacked me on sight. It even led to one of my characters putting an arrow in the back of Talsgar the Wanderer's head because I saw a figure in the distance using magic and immediately thought "Aaah, kill it!" All it did was make the bard angry, and you wouldn't like Talsgar when he's angry.

There are all the court mages and the battle mages in the imperial army, plus the priests who usually have some magic, too.  The ones out in the wilds are out there for a reason.  And some of them are really skeevy.  But soul trapping necromancers with their own black soul gems is so much fun.  :wizard:

I mentioned the court wizards. The priests might have magic but I was referring only to anyone identified as a mage/wizard.

Great video there. I've seen dragons crashing into the ground like that a few times but I can't quite understand why as it never seems to be from them getting hit in the air. Maybe it's just taking a large chunk of HP off them. Still, very funny to see.

What was slightly less funny was when I got a bounty to kill the dragon at Skyborn Altar, on a mountain south-west of Morthal. I went from Morthal, and travelled north around the mountain looking for a way up. I should have gone around the south side which is where the stairs to the dragon lair are, but I found that out later. When I got about half way around I found the Hall of the Vigilant, and while standing in my Daedric armour, with the Masque of Clavicus Vile on, chatting to the Vigils, who are very vigilant about hunting Daedra worshippers I was attacked by a random dragon. It wasn't the one I was looking for but I can't turn down a good dragon fight. Eventually I passed a fort and found a slope which was mostly scaleable, so up I went with Iona. We arrived on the cliff above the dragon lair and fought the ancient dragon. Everything was going well until the dragon crashed into the ground in front of the word wall down below me and I killed it. Then it promptly fell off the mountain and despite the hour or so I spent finding a way down the mountain and searching I could not find it, losing out on all that dragon loot. But at least I got the next word for the never used ice breath, that's what counts right?

While it might seem much of what I say about the game is complaining I'm having a great time with Skyrim. I just feel like sharing the tales of woe, misfortune, and strangeness my characters tend to encounter on a regular basis. Maybe it'll cheer others up.

Something more fun than soul trapping necromancers... soul trapping Thalmor.

Not only are you bound to the mortal plane, you arrogant ass, you're bound forever to a cheap silver Ring of Fortify Alchemy! Muwahaha!!!

@Addal67- I've got one of them as well. It's so great. I've got so many filled soul gems I won't need any for a long time.<LOL> As for the torture chamber I thought that it was a nice touch.<G>

@Druss99- I think there was talk about Katana's but I don't think the Ebony blade was/is one. As you can only wield it as a 2handed weapon yet it uses the 1handed perk tree.

Naughty- I couldn't agree with you more on the books. I'm reading that book as well can't remember where I picked it up at but it is interesting little read.

@ReallyRue- Like I said in an earlier post I did that in a foresworn camp and it was funny watching them fight amongst themselves with nothing but thier fist in thier small clothes.<G>

I couldn't agree with you more as I've seen that a couple of times in my play throughs. The funniest thing I had happen was when on crash landed and took out 3 storm cloaks. That there was priceless.

Now you sound as bad as me when it comes to the Thalmor.<G> I'm getting ready to do the embasy and I love killing every one of the Thalmor in the place.

My favourite was immediately soul trapping the Azura priestess in the Black Star once I acquired it. I wonder whether that crone Azura ever warned her about it.

I actually went to great lengths to NOT kill any Thalmor until I was forced to do so at the cell entrance. Then after finding evidence of their involvement, all bets were off, and guess what vial of High Elf blood went to a certain wacky Wizard?

Anyone got any tips on how to beat Morokei the Dragon Priest? Dude keeps kicking my ass, especially since my only means of slowly denting his health away -- the Staff of Jyrik Gauldurson which does 25 damage a shot -- stopped working despite having a good amount of charge left in it from my last soul gem thingy.

never mind. I just opened the door into the area, fired an arrow at him, ran away, and then just did a little bit of rinse and repeat.

I did the same thing on my first play through as well but when I found that then all hell broke lose and I went back through and took them all out wasn't one Thalmor left alive or nothing left of value when I was done in the embassy. Image IPB

Thats what works for me. As them Dragon Priests have allot of h.p and they can be a pain in the arse to kill. It also helps to smith your own bow. and have as many of the decent perks in archery you can for max damage

Has anyone else seen a Headless Horseman ghost? Because I just did when I was in Werewolf form. I found that to be pretty awesome.

Yes will have to admit that there was pretty cool. Even got a pic of him on my steam acct as well as many other great pics.

If you want to see them fell free to add me. my handle is the same as it is here. And that goes of anyone.

I don't have a Steam account, but that's pretty cool that you got some pics of the mysterious marauder that stalks the night, the Headless Horseman.

Could you put them in this thread though?

So...

Someone gave me Skyrim as a Christams gift (Yesss!) and I've only played about an hour just to get familiar with the UI and changes...I'm currently close to finishing up Drakensang: The River of Time and find I usually can't play more than one story-intesive game at a time or I end up mixing up Canons and Quests...

All I can say is Wow! I really enjoyed Morrowind, but really didn't like Oblivion because very little changed from Morrowind to Oblivion as far as Gameplay and such...Skyrim is an enormous leap forward in the right direction! I found the little bit that I've seen of the Graphics to be much more realistic and grittier than I remember the previous two TES games to be, the levelling system is an amazing improvement, and (based on the Manual) the Lockpicking system looks like it makes sense! Never was able to get the hang of Oblivion's lockpick system...

I have avoided this Thread because I didn't want to tease myself or see any Spoilers, but I really can't wait to get to a real playthrough of Skyrim!

My only quandry is which Race to play as, I played Morrowind and Oblivion as a Khajit and am leaning heavily towards Redguard or Nord for Skyrim...but all the races look like so much fun!

Took my 5 replays to find the right race so here's hoping you have it easier then me. Finally stuck with an Argonian.
