Weird. I can get magicka regeneration for my armor easy...I disenchanted conjuration robes that improves my magicka regeneration and conjuration cost. Applied it to my Dragon Armor.

That's odd. I remember wanting to enchant Elven armor, but the magicka regen wasn't available. I'll check again.

does anyone know if using a staff contributes to the magic skill it uses?

You know having played for over 100 hours on my main pc...Skyrim is kind of getting stale.
Even trying to replay a new PC is kind of bland.

You can do a lot of things in a different order but at times Skyrim is pretty damn linear it seems.
I kind of like how in FONV where there were unique quest lines depending on who you joined.

Its still an amazing game but really after playing it once there is very few things that are new to see for me. Ah well maybe I should be glad since school starts on the morrow after all.

We can have Magicka Regeneration to Helmets. Not to Armors. Armors can have Reduced Cost of Casting + minor Magicka regen which is one and the same enchantment. One for each school. But that regen is really low compared to what we can put in a helmet or those we can find in Master Robes (150% faster), AFAIK.

Forget that. Just disenchanted a robe with the new mage and she can put Magicka Regen in any armor on her inventory. Of course, at her level and with her soulgems, she could get a super +1% Magicka Regen enchanted. LOL She'll stick with her Black Robes (+50%) which let her use the Novice Hood (+30 magicka). Somehow, the Blue Robes which I disenchanted would not let me use a Hood.

LOL... I have over 600 hrs now. Average 200 hrs with 3 characters and I've just started the forth one. A Pure Mage Breton chick. And I still find even new locations right after this new start! I guarantee you that in 100 hrs you haven't seen half of it! =)  (PS: But I agree that there are some repetitive parts indeed)

And I'm enjoying the Mage so far. Level 4 (She was lvl 2 when went in and now she needs only one skill level to lvl 5) and she cleared Black Falls Barrows and Sanctum with Destruction and Conjuration pretty easily.

I'm really surprised. I am finding new places on the world right off a new character's start. I always start at Riverwood and fully explore the area around it. But I've never have seen this part of the river before reaching Riverwood and I am sure i've been there. Perhaps the water wasn't so clear then...

She's in the river, water is in her waist:

LMAO. It was a glitch in the graphics! As soon as I alt tabbed back to the game the river was back there and not so transparent! =)

In my game, there are not enough dragons. I need and want to kill more, much more to max out all my shouts but I just can't find any. Twenty I killed, and that's it. To add insult to injury, the two at the end of Skuldafn temple even bugged out and didn't attack me.

Are the dragons at the end of Skuldafn supposed to attack, too? I've only played through the game once, but they didn't attack me, then.

If you're on PC you need the more powerful dragons mod. I'm on level 55 and yesterday had an epic battle with an ancient dragon that lasted for at least an hour and ranged between halted stream camp and Fort Greymoor encompassing all those giant/mammoth camps in between.

That sounds.... terribly tedious.  I'll be skipping that one.

Agreed.  With a caveat.  It'd be a great mod to have if there were only like 3 or 4 dragons in the game.    But we all know that's not how Skyrim is set up :)

And that brings us to  the obvious question:  Who the hell wants to have an epic, hour-long, map-spanning dragon fight every hour... and sometimes 2 at a time!...?

Thats not what is happening though, I don't have that many dragon fights and have never had to fight 2 at once. It seems Bethesda can't win, make dragon fights too easy (as they arguably are in the base game once the player reaches a certain point) and there are complaints make them too hard and there are complaints. I'm not sure what this mod would be like at lower levels but it makes the experience at higher levels more like the first few dragon fights (apart from the scripted fights).

Anyway that fight may have been an anomaly perhaps because the open plains meant the dragon stayed in the air more than usual and my character does not have great ranged attack skills. I had another fight yeserday in a more enclosed space where the dragon was forced to land more often and by spamming elemental fury I managed to win the battle more quickly.

I have a potentially silly question : do skills actually improve if you don't put perks in them ? I like the perk system, it's a nice touch, but it seems that some skills are virtually similar at say level 25 and level 50, while in Oblivion the difference seemed more palpable. An obvious example to me is lockpicking, it doesn't seem to me that having a higher level in lockpicking increases your chances at the mini-game whatsoever if you haven't picked any lockpicking perks. Is that so ?

On the other hand, I get the impression that wearing an amulet that improves speech does increase my chances at persuasion attempts, but then again I might be wrong.

So which one is it ? Does it depend on the skill maybe ? I like to save perks for later yet a lot of what you can and can't do seems very perk-dependant.

EDIT : just downloaded the manual from Steam, which partly answers my question.

Well now will have to admit that this here sounds like a great mod if you ask me. Was hoping that someone would put out a mod making the dragons harder to kill. How about a link for the rest of us folks. pretty please.<G> Image IPB

They haven't attacked me, but according to some walkthroughs they are supposed to when you fight the dragon priest Nahkriin. I did try to attack them, managed to get the health to near zero, but it just landed and started speaking dragon language at which point I couldn't damage it further.

Like on BSN there are some awful threads on the Bethsoft forums. But some are little gems. Look at this one:

Do you follow the fox?

No doubt it will be trolled soon, but so far so good. ;)

I'm curious as to why you folks that like magic don't play something like a battlemage? Then you can have the best of fighting with a weapon and using magic. Or am I looking at the battlemage in the wrong prospective on this here?

Now I just did the Boethiah's Caling quest and got an interesting set of Ebony Armor. It has 2 enchantments one it allows me to move silently and the other is that it deals 5pts of poison damage per second  to opponents that get to close. I thought that this was interesting. So I went and upgraded the Ebony armor and it's as powerful as that of my Daedric and thought that I would give it a try. Has anyone else tried out this armor?

As far as I know they don't contribute to any skill during combat.

I thought that the only way for which skills could improve was if you put perks in them? After all all my magic schools and light armor and two handed are about what they were when I started this game.

During combat they don't, but when a Staff runs out of power and you use a soul gem it goes to the Enchantment skill.

Enchantment?

Your baseline skill improves as the skill level goes up, eg. my base damage with one handed weapons increased as my one handed skill went up. The perks confer additional advantages allowing the player to specialise to a greater extent.

That is one nasty piece of armor. When you wear it near any NPC - such as people in towns or guards, it may trigger the effect. Of course, this counts as an assault, and you'll get a nice bounty.

Well now maybe I should go back to my Daedric armor than if this is the case. The last thing for which I want to do is be getting a high bounty because of my armor. And here I thought that it just happened against those that were attacking you.

EDIT:

I just looked it up on the Wikki and you are right. I think that there bites. I thought it was just against those that are attacking you. Well back to the Daedric armor.Image IPB

It is not a bad armor, but you have to be careful as to when and how you use it.

It happens kinda randomly. I was wearing it on my character for the longest time and only once it actually became a problem. It's not supposed to happen usually since the effect only triggers when you're in combat. At least, that's how it should work.

I thought the same thing that it only triggered when you were in combat. Not when you are saying hanging out at the local watering hole or just normally talking to NPCs. And here I thought I had gotten a cool set of armor. Should have known there was a catch.

does anyone know if it still happens even after it's been improved<upgraded>
