Well I think I've hit the limit of easy Smithing leveling with iron daggers. Anyone have tips? I'm at 62 and I want to get to 80 fast.

Go to the warrior stone; activate it.  Then go rest in your home  (if you have one).  In the meantime,  Collect and Hoard Iron Ingots and leather strips as if the world is about to end.  Then continue making Iron daggers for a few game days.  Alternatively, you could  opt to mass produce leather bracers.  They make the process a little less costly.  (leather is a bit cheaper than iron ingots, IIRC)

Regardless, You just have to have patience.  And yes,   at this point in your Smithing-leveling, you have to make 6 or 7 daggers/Bracers  to level up your smithing by one point.    And  from 80-100, it takes even more than that.    This is the part where you have to ask yourself:  "Do I really want  to be able to craft Daedric Gear this early?  is it Worth it?".  And if your answer is yes, then YOU MUST PERSERVERE.

I was actually hoping for Ebony gear but that will work, too. Thanks, off to the warrior stone.

If your char is not a Warrior, forget the Warrior stone. Go to Riften, wander outside the town by the docks and get the quest from the argonian to return the Lexicon. Do it and youll get Faster Smithing increase as a permanent power and a nice +25% Armor if wearing all Dwarven Armor set. (Get the No Helmet mod because Dwemer Helmet is so UGLY!).

And stick with Ebony. Once your Smithing reach 100 and you can improve it even more (with Blacksmith's Elixir or self made Fortify Smithing pots), the difference in Armor Rating and Damage (weapons) to Daedric is insignificant. And it looks a lot better, IMHO. (And you save one Perk as well).

If you're going Enchanting, forget Iron Daggers and craft Leather Bracers only. They are a lot less expensive to craft and less boring to enchant as well. Training Enchanting is really a pain already. Needs hundreds of items and all petty, lesser and common gems you can buy or find and fill yourself. Enchanting weapons has one more step needed than enchanting armor and when you multiply that by hundreds...

Hm, an interesting idea to use Block as the primary means of defence as a mage. Could save some perks compared with Alteration or Armor + Smithing + Enchanting and also, compared with Alteration, would be semi-permanent and consume no mana.
I wonder how effective it would be though. How much damage does block alone absorb (with no armor)? I guess things could get pretty ugly if you get staggered or sent flying.
Also I guess it wouldn't mix as well with a stealthy mage-assasin playstyle that I intend to use.

Still an interesing thing to consider. I'm a bit worried about Mage Armor effects being so temporary and eating up a lot of mana.

@Haplose, I seem to recall you had mentioned some time ago that you disliked Oblivion and were quite skeptical about how Skyrim was going to turn out.

Have you been enjoying it so far?

Has anyone successfully intimidated the guards at Riften and Whiterun into gaining entry into those Holds? It seems like having 70 and the Intimidation perk isn't sufficient enough. It reminds me of how difficult it is to persuade Brother Verulus to accompany the Dragonborn without the necessary perk in persuasion and at least 90 speech.

Riften -I just bribe them, then talk them down to half of the cost they're asking for. It's not much.

Whiterun - I've never failed to gain entry by simply telling them that I saw a dragon in Helgen and need to speak to the Jarl.

Riften - Persuade check works for me; saves gold, too.

Whiterun - same as Yrkoon.

RE: Smithing - read that making Jewlery (eg; Gold rings) is a good way to increase a few Skills: Smithing, Alteration w/ Transmutation, and also Enchantment when utilized. Also, it is advised to improve goods before sale for some extra pts and gold.

Why can't I marry a Khajiit?

I even tried to use console commands on Kharjo, and it doesn't work.

Do not recall any Khajiit mates listed; too finicky, I guess....

I really hate having low health on my current pc.

Getting pwned by everything is not funny.

I wish you COULD marry a Khajiit! As it is, you can only marry 3 Argonians, but no kitty people. Apparently it was by design, but not cool on Bethesda's part.

Is this a new character? Starting over is tough, especially when you're used to your sneezing causing enemies to go flying.

Funny you should mention a litter of kittens; I had a dream about that last night. I think that whole thing with my husband and J'Zargo before bed set that in motion in my mind.

Luckily, I personally was not the "mother" of the dream brood.

I have strange dreams.

I guess after the (uncensored) Real Barenziah books, Bethesda wanted to avoid jokes about barbed penises (yes, Khajiit are cats in every way).

I never had a problem getting into either one one of them the first time I went to them. Even with my speech being low when I went to them. In riften I just bring up the fact that their trying to rip people off.<G> Or a line close to that there can't remember what it was. As for Whiterun I just went in the gate as you would any other city the first time. Why do you need to use intimidate?

I love what Bethesda sneaks past the moral guardians in their books.

Go read some of Vivec's Sermons.
Piercing of the second apperature indeed.

Well now this is two things for which I didn't know.

1 The warrior stone aids in your smithing does anyone know by how much?

2. I didn't know about the Argonian quest either.2 playthroughs and I missed it both times.Image IPB How much does the argonians Faster smithing increase give you?

I will have to try the argonian on my next play through. Sounds like it's interesting.

Now Rage as for the argument of the Daedric vs Ebony Armor debate you know Daedric looks so much better then the Ebony armor does. And as long as were at it the Daedric armor even looks good if your going to go for Shadowmere one of the best horse in the game.Image IPB

I'm someone who thought Oblivion was mostly awful, and was really worried about Skyrim. Because I didn't like Oblivion, I set my expectations for Skyrim pretty low. I do see a lot of Oblivion in Skyrim, and Skyrim is better than the low expectations I had for it, so I have found that I do like Skyrim much more than Oblivion (but not as much as Morrowind).

They were in a cage, and apparently their mother left them there. I didn't get to see what she looked like, but I knew something was off about the kittens. They were larger than normal, and had fuzzy little fingers with claws. Oh, and they were spotted all over. I think they were trying to stand up on their hind legs, but they were too weak or something.

So...I think they were probably supposed to be Khajiit, but my mind didn't quite process them correctly.

You're right you do have some slightly strange dreams. Then again, who doesn't. What happened in the end did you adopt them or can't you remember when you woke up?

^ Sir, you are taking quite a strange interest in my dreams / psyche. Image IPB

I remember picking them up, and carrying them around, and being happy that they didn't hate it, like my actual cats. I'm pretty sure I adopted them, but the next thing I remember is my alarm going off. Maybe it will continue tonight; sometimes they do.

Now where did you find them at if you don't mind my asking? As I've never found anything like this in the game in 2 playthroughs. Of course it wouldn't be the first thing that I've missed in the game.<LOL>

EDIT:

Now that I read back I see that it was a dream that you had. Now do you always have weird dreams like that there? Image IPB

^ I see you just edited your reponse.

Are you kidding? That was rather mild. I really need to start a dream journal; I have some really bizarre ones, and I usually tell my husband about them in the morning while we're getting ready for work (or after he rolls himself out of bed on weekends; usually I'm up for hours before he gets up). TMI.

Anyway, yeah, I've always had pretty vivid (strange) dreams. Sometimes I wake up to brilliance, and solve problems I've been chewing on for a while. Sleep can be an awesome tool.
