At first you suck and can be killed by pretty much anything minus a Rat. Then at higher levels with good gear your untouchable. They seem unable to get that part of the game just right.

To be honest with you I dodn't know if a mage is restricted to any type of armor. But I could be wrong on this here as I've never played a mage.

Actually, you have lots of options as a mage. Once you find anything that's enchanted and disenchant it, you can wear literally anything (fine clothing, robes, miner's clothes - even your prisoner rags from the beginning of the game) and add that enchantment to it.
Mage armor isn't really armor, per se - it's clothing that's been enchanted. So you could wear an enchanted Blacksmith apron if you wanted to. However, with items that are actually considered to be armor, you get the benefit of damage reduction plus whatever enchantment you add.
My pure mage is awfully squishy in mage robes, so I have her in light armor, and am considering switching over to heavy, just for a little added protection. Plus I load up on mage armor perks (alteration) and cast Stoneflesh before each fight if she's just wearing mage robes. I do enjoy switching things up.

I would be screaming mad if that happened with Marked for Death. Honestly, it blows either way, but that's the one I use the most lately.
My stupid weapon racks/mounts don't work in Breezehome in Whiterun. Not that that helps you any, but I'm throwing my hat in the "this crap doesn't work" pile.

What do you mean by they are un responsive? Did you unlock them with Dragon Souls as I find this usually helps.<G>

Sure, you can wear a chef's apron if you want. Or anything in between up to and including dragonbone armor. It's just that the robes have the best magicka bonuses. In past games you could also not get full spellpower in armor, I'm not sure if that's still the case. But battle mage is a great build and one I actually prefer from "pure mage." I'm just trying pure mage for the wabbajack of it.Redneck1st wrote...
So than I take it that a mage can like any other character can wear any armor <s>he choses without restriction then? I wasn't sure as I've never ran a pure mage and don't intend to as magic has always been a weak class for me in these games. Now my next run through after looking over some of the perks I might add some restoration to my skills as I like some of the perks there like the one that helps with health and stamina both.

Maybe it's race based? (omg... please don't start a Nords are racist discussion) But I've only played Nords and they've let me in both times and quite early in the game with no speech perks.LobselVith8 wrote...
Has anyone successfully intimidated the guards at Riften and Whiterun into gaining entry into those Holds? It seems like having 70 and the Intimidation perk isn't sufficient enough. It reminds me of how difficult it is to persuade Brother Verulus to accompany the Dragonborn without the necessary perk in persuasion and at least 90 speech.
