I believe this is a known bug, which doesn't make it any less annoying.

Yeah i just googled to see how common  this bug is. Hopes that Bethesda releases a patch that addresses the issue.

Has anyone successfully intimidated the guards at Riften and Whiterun into gaining entry into those Holds? It seems like having 70 and the Intimidation perk isn't sufficient enough. It reminds me of how difficult it is to persuade Brother Verulus to accompany the Dragonborn without the necessary perk in persuasion and at least 90 speech.

Maybe it's race based?  (omg... please don't start a Nords are racist discussion)  But I've only played Nords and they've let me in both times and quite early in the game with no speech perks.

I've yet to play a Nord but I might my next play through. I have played a Dunmer and currently a Redguard and like I said I never had any problems at all getting into either one.

Must be a bug with the console game then because I just checked my first play through which was a Dunmer and she also had all 3 words of the Elemental fury shout.

^ (last page) No, I wasn't having trouble getting into Whiterun or Riften, I was simply curious about the aggressive option, because I've always persuaded the guards at Whiterun and Riften, but I wanted to try aggression to see how it would turn out. It seems to require a high level of speech to pull it off, and my curiosity is getting the better of me. It wouldn't be difficult to use persuasion since it's a relatively minimal requirement for both Hold guards, and I could simply use the ebony dagger to stealth kill them, but I'm curious.

I wouldn't be surprised. From the complaints the walls seem to be random, and there's no concensus on the cause either.

Now why would you want to start off in the town on the wrong foot by killing the guards for?<LOL> As for the aggressive option I've never tried that there myself. Never thought of using it to be honest with you. Might try it though on my next play through. Out of curiosity what level are you currently and what are you running?

As for me I'm running a Female Redguard sneaky assasin/thief level 52 no magic.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. I know that there are several bugs in the game from stuff not being removed after the quest is completed. To the one with the Thieves Guild where you can't give the Falmer eye to Delvin which is the final Larceny item. There maybe be another one with the theives guild not quite sure yet.

I'm glad that my Two Hander got all three words for Elemental Fury without any problem or I'd be pretty mad too.

Well now this is two things for which I didn't know.

1 The warrior stone aids in your smithing does anyone know by how much?

2. I didn't know about the Argonian quest either.2 playthroughs and I missed it both times. How much does the argonians Faster smithing increase give you?

I will have to try the argonian on my next play through. Sounds like it's interesting.

Now Rage as for the argument of the Daedric vs Ebony Armor debate you know Daedric looks so much better then the Ebony armor does. And as long as were at it the Daedric armor even looks good if your going to go for Shadowmere one of the best horse in the game.

It's the spikes. I don't like the spikes and they're not even uniform on both sides! =P

1. Warrior Stone is 20% Faster Increase Warrior Skills. Smithing is a Warrior skill.

2. The Argonian lady just gives the quest. I see it more as a Dwarven quest since we're actually working for them and they are the ones that reward us even if we never get to see them... *sighs* - I don't know how much is the Smithing bonus from that quest but it is permanent. Maybe someone who can check data info from game files would know. But anyway, you can use any other Stone that you wish and you will still have the Smithing bonus as a permanent bonus. For a non-warrior character it should be better than using Warrior Stone, IMO. Just don't wait until you already have 100 Smithing to go for that quest like my first char did! =)

I was forced to store the eyes in the bedroom safe in Proudspire. I go back from time to time to see how shiny they are.

@Addai67, no worries. I applaud and enjoy Skyrim, and I don't condemn every single Nord for the actions of a few. I get tired of reading that kind of crap at Nexus, I'm not looking to see it here.

@Redneck1st, it wasn't my plan, LOL. I simply got frustrated and tried out a little experiment. I'm level 42 with 85 speech for my current character - Dunmer.

Pretty much what Rage said; All your skills are considered either Mage, Thief, or Warrior. And are divided as follows:

Warrior Skills: (tell me if I miss any because Im not looking at the screen atm lol)
Smithing
One-Handed
Two-Handed
Archery
Heavy Armor
Block

Thief:
Light Armor
Alchemy
Speech
Pickpocket
Lockpicking
Sneak

Mage:
Alteration
Conjuration
Destruction
Restoration
Illusion
Enchanting

Each of the 3 beginning Guardian Stones affect these corresponding skills by 20% Or, you could go get the Lover's Stone and have ALL your skills increase by 15%. But there you go, hope that helps :)

Rage-Well now I'm going to have to go back and look at my Daedric armor as I had never noticed that about the spikes being uniform size on both sides.<G>

Well now it wouldn't make no sense to get something that speeds up a perk once you've already got 100% in it already. That is why I'm going to wait til my next playthrough as I'm already at 100 in smithing. I am curious though if the one from the warrior stone and the one for which you get for doing the Lexicon quest from the Argonian stack? Do you have any idea of this here?

@The Hierophant- That is where mine is stored at as well. I also have my quite a few assorted flawless gems and gold in there.<G> Believe me I'll never run out of money in this game and I even own 4 houses head of the companions, Leader of the TG, Listener and Arch Mage at the college and I don't really use spells.<LOL>

LobselVith--Nothing wrong with trying new things in a game after all I'm one that does it all the time.<G>

@Haplose, I seem to recall you had mentioned some time ago that you disliked Oblivion and were quite skeptical about how Skyrim was going to turn out.

Have you been enjoying it so far?

Oh, I'm loving it. Pretty much the best sandbox game I've played - by far. Maybe they overdid the whole dragon thing a bit, but otherwise it's an almost perfect game. I was already thinking it was too easy to become god-like after like level 30, but after level 45 I started to encounter some mild challenges and the game became fun again. And being god-like for the most time as a two-handed orc berserker is a lot of fun.

But now I want to finally play the main quest line to see it and then try a mage assasin for a change. It should be a totally different playstyle. Can't wait!
But can't decide what means of protection will be best: Alteration, Light/Heavy Armor (a bit hard on the perk requirements, since then I would probably also want smithing+enchantment.. and I don't want to plan for much more then 50 levels) or maybe even just Block? Or just rely on not being seen... but that would be awfully squishy.

I'm on my second playthrough of the game and still there are many areas for which I've not been into yet and I've got over 600 hours into the game and counting. And to think that they've yet to put out any DLCs.Image IPB

Still not have tried Heavy armor much, as I enjoy Climbing, Swimming, and a faster gate with Light armor. And as Stamina is a real must for looting, I shall probably avoid an all Magika Archmage.

Q: I know of the Heavy Armor perks that give bonuses and erase penalties, but can you still Swim in platemail?

Sure you can. And so far I've only been sent flying once with Fus-Do-Rah with Heavy Armor and Stability.

Anyone here know how much of the Companions quests you've got to do before you can get the option fo mary Aela? Heck I've done all of the Main quests of the companions and I'm Harbinger I've also done all 3 of her hircine items. Only thing for which I've not done this play through is the cruing of the 2 bothers of being a werewolf. And yes I do have an Amulet of Mara as well.

Heck I swim in Daedric aromor and not 100% sure but I think it's heavier than plate but could be wrong on this here. As for the perks like the one for which you can get that your heavy armor don't weigh nothing I've got that one as well. One of the first ones I work towards.<G>

AFAIK, simply finish the Companion quests for her: Aela the Huntress

P.S. Thanks to all for the quick replies!

Ok I see now I've got to go talk to the priest of mara guy in Riften first that is the key for which I'm missing it seems. Guess I'll go talk to him when I go back to the TG to pick up a couple of more jobs.<G>

Thanks for the posting I knew there had to be something that I was missing with that one there.

I just had a funny moment.

So I'm in this frozen Nordic burial crypt near Solitude. It's filled with Forsworn. So I'm just sneaking alongside my bride Aela, and this Forsworn woman thinks she hears something. So she starts to come through this guillotine laced hallway slowly avoiding the traps she had set up.

I pulled out my bow and fired an arrow into her chest, which caused her to stumble back and get sliced and diced.

I was pretty proud of myself.

Forsworn are not people, everyone knows THAT.
Besides they are among the morons who are auto-hostile to the Dragonborn.

Its not like we can sit down and have tea with them or anything.
