I've had the complete opposite experience on both of my 200 hour playthroughs. The DB sent assassin after assassin after me. I think 3 or 4 in my last playthrough. But the Thalmor? They've never sent one against me. I didn't even know they sent assassins. And I've been pretty consistant in killing every Thalmor I encounter.Giggles_Manically wrote...
You know I am frankly insulted that the Dark Brotherhood only sends ONE assassin after me, while the Thalmor send three.
I mean HELLO you guys are an assassin guild and you send a kitty in leather armor after me.
WHO I SAW COMING FROM HALF A MILE AWAY.
Not only did I see that assassin coming he was tucking and rolling, then ninja running at me, THEN HE SHOUTED AT ME.
I responded of course by blasting him with a fireball and going on my way. But what in the hell where they thinking sending a single measly assassin after the Archmage. I mean honestly I am just plain insulted.

@Busy Jackalope,
Never killed Heimskr. I don't usually spend much time in Whiterun, and there are people like him in the city (in real life). I'm used to it. I get more annoyed by the guy who keeps asking me if I have been to the Cloud District. Never used lunar weapons either.
Does anyone know if Snow Veil Sanctum is a "clearable" ruin? There seems to be a Nordic casket at the end of the ruin (when I returned after the TG quest), but no enemy popping out.
I don't think I've ever been annoyed enough to want to kill someone. I like grumpy or snarky NPCs. Too many people already lick your boots so the schmucks offer some good variety. And Heimskr never bothered me, either.

GI: I was lucky enough to sit in on the 'RPG Influencers' breakfast at GDC, where you talked about game design with BioWare's Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk. It was clear that you disagreed with the doctors on some key points. What would you say segregates your approach of making an RPG from the BioWare approach?
KR: Our products are very different. They are much bigger believers in the narrative along the vector of story and character. I'm much more in the belief that the player should write his own story by wandering through the world. His response to the themes in the world is what makes his story. That's probably our primary divergence. Since they believe in character and storytelling, they believe in dialogue and a heavy investment in that. What I regard an anathema is long periods of time spent in dialogue interfaces.

He'll show himself to be greedy, opportunistic, and conniving. He'll consider joining the Stormcloaks, but ends up joining the Legion because he grows to dislike the Nords... and sees an opportunity to rise through the ranks of the Imperial hierarchy after Titus Mede II meets a tragic end at the hands of a mysterious assassin...

Which may be why Talos is so lonely, and has a raving fanatic as spokesperson....
Still do not know why a game cannot have both story and freedom of creation. But if I must make a choice, will take the character and storytelling folks, though I hope with less intrusive cutscenes, and return more screenshot moments for the win.

Ah yes, poor ol' Heimskr. Such a sad tale, that one... it seems that during my initial transformation into a werewolf, I unknowingly mauled him to death in the middle of one of his sermons.
Such a tragedy. I guess the voice of Talos will have to find a new throat... hopefully one that won't be ripped out by werewolf teeth, this time.

He worked on TES up through Oblivion, I gather. He talks about their design choices with Oblivion.

Also, I noticed ingame in the book on Lunar weapons it states that in addition to the level scaling enchantment of bonus fire damage at night time, they also get a bit of health absorbtion....
But the health absorbtion isn't listed on the actual enchantment, does anyone know if it actually works?

But I think the problem is that the 2 companies here are now irreversably comfortable with the fact that they're known for their own specific niche skills (Bioware loves their deep NPCs, long in-game chit-chats and narratives; And Bethesda loves their open world freedom; exploration and blank slate Protagonists) that they refuse to spend time and money "diversifying" to any significant degree, when they could instead, just continue working to perfect what they're already good at.
It's like opening up a popular pizza parlor which ends up becoming wildly successful and then hearing someone say "well, why can't they serve Chinese food too?")
But all that being said, I'm quickly losing my respect for The good Doctors who run Bioware. They know Full well who their audience is, and what their own company's strong points are, yet they're increasingly turning their backs on both. Don't forget, It was Greg Zeschuk who, a few months ago, claimed that RPGs are becoming less relevant. Of course, Skyrim just came out and financially disproved that claim in spectacular fashion, But forget about that for a moment. Right now I'm having a tough time seeing how Bioware can ever again put out a good RPG if they operate under the belief that RPGs are no longer relevant.

I don't know about that. I don't have those robes, and Delphine forced me to wear those party clothes. Where should I have gotten those robes? It's too late now anyway... When I was forced to kill the first guards, I put on their light elven armor, but I was still attacked by other guards.
I read on the Wikia that the robes and other Thalmor clothing found in rooms may get a High Elf past Guards, but it seemed fairly conditional and a little buggy.
So embrace your inner rebel, and know that you left a group of racists to join others, and do what you can to change those perceptions., though accepting Daedric worship might not be the best first step....
You can get a set of Thalmor robes right out of Helgen if you find the Talos shrine with the massacre victims around it. Or talk to Fralia Greymane in Whiterun and rescue her son. Or kill a justicar inside the embassy and take his.
I was so excited when I heard this.....until I found out that it can never work on the door guard because it's bugged. UGh.
As a dark elf wearing Thalmor robes, I passed the speech check with the guy guarding the door to the torture chamber at the Embassy. Before I reached the door, all the other Thalmor just said, "haven't seen your face around before."
But the one guarding the door had some specific dialog with a speech check.

caradoc2000-Well yes seems like that is the only one quest where you have to take a specific item to clear it. I don't know why they didn't do it like the Hircine quest where you could go either way. After all the mask is pretty much useless except for putting into a trunk or selling.
@Lobselvith8- Snow veil sanctum is cleared in my game. I just checked to make sure.

Also if Biowares future RPG's are as lack luster as that for which DA2 was they will lose lots more customers as well. As I for one wasn't impressed with DA2 and if there is a DA3 I'll thinking long and hard before I purchase it. I know I won't be pre-ordering it.
Now if a company were to come along and put out a game like that of NWN, BG I'd buy it. As I enjoyed both both of these titles and played them many times over.

That's kinda dissapointing. Doubly so, when you consider that DragonHide doesn't benefit from Mage Armor at all - and has pretty prohibitive casting cost, overly long casting animation and dissapointing duration. And any Dragon Mask (like Morokei) will also cancel the Mage Armor perk effect. Guess will have to wear some armor after all.

So I've read that EbonyFlesh with 3 perks put in Mage Armor still equals only 36% damage reduction.

Yeah, Illusion is planned. Already loving it. But on Master at higher levels one stray arrow would most likely be the boundry between life and death - and this would mean a level of frustration I'm not quite ready to face.
The value for fully perked Ebonyflesh seems far too low. I think it should be at least 60%.
In general I think this is one of the mechanical weaknesses of Skyrim - the aramor & damage system. Since both values can scale, apparently almost indefinately, it seems kinda weird that numeric armor values translate into % degree of damage reduced. Makes a lot of perks and a lot of specialization redundant. So what of the fact that my Orc has 1100 armor in his Daedric suit - anything above 570 is wasted anyway - and means his perks could have been better spent elsewhere.

Well now will have to admit escaping from jail and having 1k bounty in all holds is two for which I don't have. As well as for the Oblivion walker which due to a slight technicality it wouldn't give me.
