That's kinda dissapointing. Doubly so, when you consider that DragonHide doesn't benefit from Mage Armor at all - and has pretty prohibitive casting cost, overly long casting animation and dissapointing duration. And any Dragon Mask (like Morokei) will also cancel the Mage Armor perk effect. Guess will have to wear some armor after all.

As someone mentioned above, yeah, you've got to watch out for the stray arrow on Master level.

I did finish the main quest (got to level 30-something) with a mage just wearing the arch-mage robes.  If your follower is a tank, you always have a summons running around, and have the impact thing going on, you'll hardly be targetted...

HOLY CRAP, THIS IS A BIOWARE SITE, SINCE WHEN DID I GET HERE?!

I've looted them but don't bother using them.  I'm not fond of switching weapons based on time of day.  Never used the Dawnbreaker stuff for this reason, either.

Yeah, situational weapons weren't my thing either.  But, believe it or not, Dawnbreaker is actually the one weapon I've found that proves a worthwhile exception.  While not a lunar/solar powered weapon, I (We) run into enough undead to make carrying it worth the inventory space (if you have a melee build of course).  Not to mention, I can't tell you how satisfying it is to set a Deathlord and his cronies on fire.  Watching them fly apart in a fiery explosion every so often, well...it just doesn't get much better.

It was a lifesaver in Dead Man's Respite btw.  But, as to your point, I agree, I see little value in carrying a weapon whose enchantment is only good for half a day, when we can enchant any weapon with that same ability and can use it anytime.

^ The one weapon I really, really miss from Oblivion (Shivering Isles) is Dawnfang/Duskfang.

When I first got Dawnbreaker, I thought it was going to be like that, but nope. I do enjoy what it does with undead, though.

Then I got Chillrend, and felt the same disappointment. It was a crappy weapon in Oblivion, but I hoped maybe it had morphed into something awesome. According to the ES Wiki, a level 46+ version of it actually has higher base damage than a Daedric sword. I can never wait that long to finish up the TG quests, though.

Then I got the Ebony Blade. After an internal struggle with being a total turdbag, I opted to stash the stupid thing in a chest. Waa.

I didn't have much of a point; I just miss that weapon.

I also never used Dawnfang/ Duskfang. Too much fiddling. Chillrend, I gave that to my melee companion on my TG character and it worked well for us for a while.

I'm wondering about Umbra. It's got to be in the game somewhere, heavily obscured so that no one has found it yet. Right?

^ With Dawn/Duskfang, you didn't actually have to do anything different; it just switched on its own (right?). That seems so long ago, I barely remember.

I haven't found Umbra, but I'll cross my fingers right along with you.

I remember Dawnfang/Duskfang, I used it pretty exclusively after I received it from the chest - the vampiric blade. I always thought its inception was tied to the Shivering Isles (given the visuals that matched Mania and Dementia), even though the journal inferred that it's an Akaviri blade.

Last night, I went back to Snow Veil Sanctum (after completing the TG questline) to try to find the stupid model ship Larceny target, and it seems to have vanished completely. While I was there, doing the quest, I didn't find it, and thought I'd just go back later to get it...you know, like maybe I was just caught up in the heat of battle and walked right by it or something.

I know right where it's supposed to be (got it in my first playthrough), and it's nowhere to be found, and I seriously spent quite a while looking for it. *sigh* It's the only larceny target I don't have.

Have any of you guys done 75 Delvin/Vex jobs to get the jeweled flagon? I'm up to the Golden Urn (35 jobs). Wow, they get really tedious after a while. That poor smelter overseer in Markarth has 4 stolen items in his chest that I've put there, and I'm sure there will be more before I'm done.

I don't believe it is, since Umbra and Vile were part of the two Elder Scrolls novels that were released. It might end up becoming avaliable through DLC, like Mehrunes' Razor was for Oblivion.

Also, does anyone else think that Barbaras is more than simply a servant of Clavicus Vile? The fact that so much of Vile's "cosmic power" seems to reside in Barbaras makes me think so.

What pieces of gear let you give them Spell cost reductions?

I am working at getting a set of rings to swap around so I can cast a lot of spells for free.

Now as for the Ebony blade I think that they messed up on it or it's bugged. You see the description says its a 2handed weapon but yet it uses the 1handed perk tree.

As for Umbra I tell one one place it's not and thats one of the Daedra quests as I've done all of them and I've never seen it. So in all honesty I don't think were going to find it any where in the game. Unless they include it in a DLC or someone adds it to a mod.

Personally IMO you can make and enchant better weapons than that for which you can find in the game Even stuff thats more powerful then the Daedric weapons. Even my enchanted armor is better than anything else for which is in the game. Of course the Ebony armor that you get from the Boethela quest I do like that the enchantments on that there.

Only Daedric Item that I use regular is Azura's star. Of course I've got so many filled soul gems I doubt that I'll use them all by the time I complete the game. After all when you've got a Bow that does fire damage and fills soul gems your not without filled soul gems.

It should be in the first area of the ruins. The model ship is located up the flight of stairs that lead to an oil soaked platform, where picking up the ship would enflame the whole oil soaked floor. It's up the stairs opposite the other set of stairs that lead to the the exit to the second area of the Snow Veil Sanctum.

Also, isn't getting the last Larcency item currently bugged?

I've lost track of how many Delvin/Vex jobs for which I've done to be honest with you there. I know I take a job from each one of them every time I go back to the TG. Now I think I've got the jeweled flagon not sure whats after that one though as I don't know where to find a listing. I do know that the TG is bugged in that it won't take the Falmer eye which is suppose to be the last Larceny item.

Now I'll have to admit one thing about Skyrim the misc. quests for both the Companions and the Thieves guild are to repetitive if you ask me. I just takes to many of the same quests over and over again to get to a certain point.

Take the compaions for example I've been doing misc quest for them 3 or 4 days stragight reg. days not in game to try and get the part where can cure the brothers and yourself of being a werewolf and after god knows how many misc. quests I've done I've still not gotten it. How many do you've got to do any way?

I'm about to give up with it and move on and finish out my last Daedric quest and do the Civil war quests as the comanions are starting to get tedious.

I think the one for Farkas is bugged. You can't get it unless you reject Vilkas' cure quest (and then do that one afterwards). Though if his quest isn't starting either, then I don't know.

Yes that there is a known bug that you've got to turn down the one brother and do the other brother first. But I can't get it to come up at all. this play through. I think my next play through I'm going to turn it down as far as becoming a wereworlf.

I ran into this problem myself once, and the solution I found was to have the Glenmoril Witches in my inventory for the dialogue option to become avaliable.

Or spec into Illusion and/or Alchemy?

Yeah, Illusion is planned. Already loving it. But on Master at higher levels one stray arrow would most likely be the boundry between life and death - and this would mean a level of frustration I'm not quite ready to face.
The value for fully perked Ebonyflesh seems far too low. I think it should be at least 60%.

In general I think this is one of the mechanical weaknesses of Skyrim - the aramor & damage system. Since both values can scale, apparently almost indefinately, it seems kinda weird that numeric armor values translate into % degree of damage reduced. Makes a lot of perks and a lot of specialization redundant. So what of the fact that my Orc has 1100 armor in his Daedric suit - anything above 570 is wasted anyway - and means his perks could have been better spent elsewhere.

Doesn't sound like anything a Fortify health potion can't fix.

As for Lunar weapons, I'm pretty sure that due to the built in scaling and unlimited charges along with the "Two effects under one enchantment" thing (Assuming they both work) Is to make up for how powerful it can be~
Or not..
Ah well, I'll give them a try anyway and see if they scale well enough to be worth the hassle....

Edit: @Redneck1st, There is a Block Perk on the left side of the tree that gives you 50% elemental resistance while blocking if I remember right.
Technically several other perks in the Alteration school do this as well.

I have the Falmer eye. I got both of them, actually, and once I gave it to Delvin, it showed up in the bookshelf behind Mercer's desk, along with everything else. I can sell the other one, but it's just sitting in one of my Breezehome chests right now.

Maybe it's just bugged on PC? (I play on XBox).

From the ES Wiki:

As you finish the additional jobs that Vex and Delvin give you, trophies of recovered items begin to fill the shelves too:
Jeweled Candlestick appears after you complete 5 jobs.
Ornate Drinking Horn appears after you complete 15 jobs.
Golden Ship Model appears after you complete 25 jobs.
Golden Urn appears after you complete 35 jobs.
Jeweled Goblet appears after you complete 45 jobs.
Jeweled Pitcher appears after you complete 55 jobs.
Jeweled Flagon appears after you complete 75 jobs.
After completing 125 jobs, a Safe is added next to the shelves which contains potions that improve your stealth skills and other random loot.

Also, I just started checking out the Thieves Guild caches in each city. I don't know how I missed that in my first playthrough, but there are 3 barrels in each city once you've completed the "special" TG mission in that city.

They always include arrows, lockpicks, and one other item (which could be a weapon, armor, etc.) And they restock! It behooves you to check them out!

There may be a couple of Alteration perks that may be of aid: Magic Resistance (up to 30%) and Atronach (absorb 30% of incoming spells). See perk notes here:

Lobselvith8-Well I guess I'll pull the heads out of the chest in Whiterun where I stored them and try that out and see if it don't work. Thanks for the Idea.

Busy Jackalope-Well now probably why I didn't catch it as I don't use a shield. You see I either use a bow or dual wield long swords or daggers. Will have to check out the perk tree for Blocking and see what all is there. mIght change things the next play through<G>

Happy Daiz- I've got both of them as well they are sitting in my safe in Proudspire in Solitude. In 2 playthroughs never got the option to give one to Delvin. The topic never came up like it did for all the other ones. I am playing on the pc and your right it could be bugged on there. It wouldn't surprise me.<G>

Now are you sure about the list of trophies? As I'm pretty sure that I've got everything including the jeweled flagon. Only two things for which I don't have yet is the safe and the jeweled pitcher IIRC. I'll check again when I go back to the TG. Right now I'm in the middle of the CW quest. And I've got to go back to the TG to finish out two more jobs.<G>

Bummer about the Falmer eye. I think this last patch caused some new bugs, in more areas than just here. Image IPB

You have been busy! Wow! And here I was patting myself on the back for doing 35+ TG missions. Vex and Delvin seem to not want to give me any Markarth quests right now, though. That's the only special city mission I have left.

I don't know, the list of trophies came from the ES wiki, and looks to be correct thus far for me. Just out of curiosity, have you been using the TG barrel caches? I'm curious if the grade of arrows increases after time. Right now, I'm just seeing steel arrows, despite having all levels up to Daedric in my inventory.

OMG, total side note, but I just found the "garden" for Honeyside in Riften last night. I've owned that house during two playthroughs, and never actually saw the garden area. It's not as good as the one in the Arch Mage quarters, but there's a lot in it! Derp, I can't believe I never noticed it before.

Congratulations on persisting with a robed mage!

My build calls for at least 52 levels though... and from experience with my Orc, levels 46+ might get more hectic.
Companions and summons are a huge help for sure... but as I want to play an assasin-mage, they would kinda get in the way of my stealth - so I prefer to be able to handle things on my own.

Now I did check out the thieves guild and I was right the only two for which I've yet to get yet was the Safe and the jeweled pitcher. How I got the flagon before the pitcher is beyond me. But  if I get the save and still don't have the pitcher I'll chalk it up to another bug.<LOL>

As for trying out having the witch heads in my inventory haven't tried that one there yet. Thats next on my list.<G>

What's the best way to make gold-alchemy, smithing , questing? Also at what level do you start to get significant amounts of gold from dungeons?

I'd think you would get the most from Thieves guild stuff/Alchemy early on.
