Dark Brotherhood has excellent perks for the unsavory types: gold, armor & robes, Alchemy & Light Armor trainers, all but immortal horse, and the best Light armor set in the game, IMO.
Unsavory? I like to think of it as ridding Tamriel of bad people (that's how I sleep at night).
I agree for the most part; the DB and TG are great ways to make cash, but I disagree with the shrouded armor being the best. Stat-wise, maybe, but looks-wise, it's hideous. I prefer Nightingale or Linwe's armor from the TG for light armor, and Daedric for heavy...but that's just me.
In my last playthrough, I finally got Smithing maxed out, and made a set of Dragonscale. I was surprised; I didn't hate it. The female version isn't that bad, and I can actually see my character's face while she's wearing it. Plus, the back of the Dragonscale looks like...wait for it...dragon scales. It's kinda cool!

I made a LOT of gold from The Dark Brotherhood. You get 20k for the last quest. You're supposed to use it in restoring the sanctuary, but that's entirely optional. I kept it. XD You could always just level up your smithing by making iron daggers and then selling them. I made a lot from that, as well.

heh! Almost the opposite for me; like the Ancient Shrouded look, though I wish I had the cowl cover the lower part of the face. The red & black motiff seems to work fairly well, too (though Astrid makes it work far more than my guys)....
And I disliked the Dragonscale armor so much that I stored it away. However, the guantlets were reasonable, so I kept using them. The male version looked more like plate; much too blocky looking for my archers.
It may be a racial and gender thing too, as my Orc looks much better when wearing a Glass helm than my Breton Dragonborn....
ACK! Am I am becoming a Skyrim Sims fan?!

All of them. Crafting makes bank cash, but is limited by the fact that you can only sell certain items to certain vendors and they are restricted on how much gold they carry. You can get around this by waiting 3 days for their gold to restock, but that's pathetically boring.Mike Smith wrote...

Certain potions have high resale value. I craft Paralysis and Slow poison just to sell, since my character is a mage and wouldn't use them and they are worth a lot of gold. A giant's toe + blisterwort potion is supposed to be the highest return on any potion, if you want to start a giant genocide or wait for vendors to restock.
The time I start to see the gold pour in is when I have better equipment than anything I loot and don't need to destroy anything to disenchant anymore. That's when I start emptying vendor gold.
One huge moneymaking venture is to help clear Korskeggr Mine, which nets you lots of gold ore, then help the miners in Karthwasten and mine the iron ore there and transmute it to gold ore. Make gold ingots and craft jewelry and you'll be selling that off for a loooong time.
I also take a Haggling perk fairly early, when it will do the most good and have the most cumulative effect, and I wear an Amulet of Zenithar (10% better prices) every time I do a big sell-off. It makes a real difference over time.

I had Cicero as a follower, and put him in the Shrouded armor; call me crazy, but it made me feel all weird inside. I think it looks good on Astrid, and females in general, but very strange on men. Veezara worked it ok, but everyone else...creepy. It was like watching a UFC fight where one of the fighters is wearing spandex short shorts. See? Weird inside.
The male Dragonscale is pretty bad, admittedly. The female looked really good on my Breton, but they're very petite compared to some of the other races. I don't know; it just balanced right. I think you're right; different races wear different armors better.
Dragon plate is just awful, male or female. IMHO, of course.

Mainly Worn Shrouded armor if your enchanting skill is high enough.

Speaking of dragon bone and dragon scale- another reason my current character is so rich is that I gave up on the idea of crafting dragon armor and have been selling them off.

I'm surprised there are still people alive in Tamriel.
Also, the quest "Dark Brotherhood Forever" never ends. This means that the Radiant story will eventually run out of non-essential NPCs to murder.

Think I recall Yrkoon saying that mauls also decapitate on crits, which is somewhat iffy; either like it, or not kinda issue.

I mean how dumb are you to go up against a guy who has left 20 or so of your pals as nothing more than ash piles by now.

I wonder why the Dark Brotherhood is needed at all, when all one gets for "murder" is a measly fine of 1,000 gold.

Hmmm? I had a bounty of 7000 in Markath for not going to prison quietly *bunch of bribe taking so-called comrades in arms*.
I just could not see going quietly with this particular Orc....

I started doing those for extra cash over the weekend, and noticed that the targets for the Dark Brotherhood Forever are generic NPCs.virumor wrote...

For instance, one of them was named "Traveling Dignitary", who I had never seen before that. She just walked up and down the street in Solitude, which made an arrow in the back quite easy. Even the contract givers are given generic names.
I noticed that when those quests are active, the guards seem to avoid the area. What's up with that?

Has anyone made a Maul toting Dragonborn yet? While there are a couple listed that seem fairly powerful, all those perks for a couple of 2H hammers seems rather expensive.

In my first playthrough, I used the mace of Molag Bal and Volendrung for quite a while; does that count?

I suspect it does. There's an area you can't get to without the quest, correct?
He worked on TES up through Oblivion, I gather. He talks about their design choices with Oblivion.
Yes, the Snow Veil Sanctum is tied to the Thieves Guild, and you can't enter the ruin before the necessary quest in the Thieves Guild (except for the exit tunnel, which is blocked off until you complete the quest and pull down the handle). The ruin only becomes completely accessible through the Thieves Guild Questline. I suppose it could simply be a glitch that it doesn't say that it's "clear," which sometimes happens, since it seems to be clear for a few people here (like caradoc2000 and Redneck1st).

Heimskr probably doesn't bother me because I hardly ever see him. I always fast travel between Dragonsreach and the lower market.
I don't mind Heimskr, it's not as though he doesn't have every reason to be upset about the Thalmor, who want to un-create Mundus because they think the mortal plane makes them lesser beings, according to their view of themselves as the children of the et'Ada and their perception of everyone else as one of the lesser races who are mere creations. If I recall Jarl Grey-Mane correctly, Heimskr might end up handling the Whiterun Temple of Talos that's being planned.

My Nord thief was able to sneak around quite a bit using hooded Thalmor robes. Eventually she got spotted, when she had to come face to face with the door guard to the prison.Elhanan wrote...

I don't know about that. I don't have those robes, and Delphine forced me to wear those party clothes. Where should I have gotten those robes? It's too late now anyway... When I was forced to kill the first guards, I put on their light elven armor, but I was still attacked by other guards.
I read on the Wikia that the robes and other Thalmor clothing found in rooms may get a High Elf past Guards, but it seemed fairly conditional and a little buggy.
So embrace your inner rebel, and know that you left a group of racists to join others, and do what you can to change those perceptions., though accepting Daedric worship might not be the best first step....
You can get a set of Thalmor robes right out of Helgen if you find the Talos shrine with the massacre victims around it. Or talk to Fralia Greymane in Whiterun and rescue her son. Or kill a justicar inside the embassy and take his.
I was so excited when I heard this.....until I found out that it can never work on the door guard because it's bugged. UGh.
As a dark elf wearing Thalmor robes, I passed the speech check with the guy guarding the door to the torture chamber at the Embassy. Before I reached the door, all the other Thalmor just said, "haven't seen your face around before."
But the one guarding the door had some specific dialog with a speech check.
And it worked? He doesn't move on mine, which I was expecting as I have heard about it before. He stands there and goes to attack mode when I try to enter.

Although I will admit, the idea appealed to me for a split second. I've been fluffying my feathers like a peacock about how awesome I think my characters turned out, so if I could easily get an image of them, I might consider it.
As it is, any snapshots I'd take are of my tv, and that just looks like arse.
