I just discovered something hilarious.  You can meet Cicero  (and do a quest for him) before getting involved in the Dark Brotherhood.  I found him and his wagon stranded on the road north of Whiterun.  he asked me to find someone to help him fix a broken wagon wheel.

I read of this after my first Dragonborn, and have seen it since. Nonetheless, Cicero is still the most irratating NPC in the game, and I will do what I am able to limit his time in each session.

They might leave it vague. Some events are left vague from Oblivion - the KoTN is reformed, for instance, but there's no mentioned of who reformed them. And Sheogorath's line merely implies that he was formerly the Champion of Cyrodiil (however heavily).

Which line implies that?

Sheogorath mentions a head which belonged the mother of the traitor in the Dark Brotherhood storyline. The cheese he mentions deals with the quest the oringinal Sheogorath gave him to troll a village full of khajit. He recalls Martin Septim as if he was familiar with him and even compliments him. The only thing he doesn't mention was The Knights of The Nine events with Umaril.

I'm level 35 and my Nordic Spellsword is clad in a full set of Ebony armor.

And damn does he look badass in it.

Also, he has an Ebony Sword and Shield. Now if I can just get an Ebony Bow he'll be set.

I hated Ebony armor in Oblivion, but loves the way Ebony armor was designed in this game. I switch between the Nightingale armor, and Ebony from time to time.

I kind of miss the option to kill anyone in the game who got annoying sometimes.

Oh Maven just pray to Stendarr that I dont make you unessential.

So many npcs put hits out on me and I can do nothing about it.  On a brighter note, I got absolutely sick and tired of the enchanter mage telling me (the Archmage) that  I'm not as dumb as I look.  I killed him and paid Tofldir 500 septims to continue doing business with the College.

I find it annoying how Bethesda does not really punish you or anything.

In DAO the guard mobs that got sent after you were tough battles after the second time. But sending ONE assassin after you or some mooks is kind of sad.

Like in Fallout 3 Talon Company/Regulators were utter jokes.

I have a thread in the Mass Effect 3 forum called "How Will Mass Effect 3 be viewed I'm the Post-Skyrim Era". Some good discussion and debate, if interested come over and join in.

How will ME3 be viewed in the post-Skyrim era?

Isn't Talon Company Armor pretty good, if butt ugly, or at least fairly serviceable?  I wore it for a while, and I remember hauling piles of it home and repairing it up since there was an ample supply, as TC was attacking me a couple of times a day.  Memory's a bit foggy after all this time though.

True, but try killing Vulpes Inculta and his little band of Frumentarii in New Vegas when you first meet them in Nipton as they're attempting to send their little message (as a level 4 or 5 Courier no less).  I couldn't keep up with the Legion's attacks that early on.  Had to reload, spare them, and let the anger stew for many levels, then later swim the Colorado with Boone and wipe him AND Caesar out where they friggin sleep.

I always found that fight relatively easy, even on Very hard difficulty, On all my characters..
Really just a question of utilizing all those explosives/AoE you have access to from earlier, rips them all up nicely..

Talon Company armor sold at a good price but they were pathetic.

Really the only things to be truly afraid of at high level in FO3 were deathclaws, and those hick mutants in the DLC....damn I can solo an Enclave base but those bastards hit like the wrath of god.

Also playing around with the Expert level destruction spells...all i can say is meh.
To much cost for too little effect really.

I will stick with Chain Lightning, Fireball, and Ice Storm...which are very fun to use I have to admit.
Especially when you blast a vampire with a fire ball and see their corpse come flying at you on fire.

You don't just meet them at high level.  I always had a hard time with their first few encounters, when I had worse equipment than they did.  Same with the thugs in Skyrim.

Their armor is quite good for a new character and can fix the Ranger armor, so it's always valuable.

But, I usually stay out of discussions on how pathetically easy a game is. For some people a game will never be hard enough, no matter how hard it is.  I'm glad I don't have that problem.

Yeah, the fight itself wasn't hard at all, even on very hard.  It was the almost immediate repercussions of attacking swarms of legionaires, and I mean it was continuous.  I first tripped into a legion camp just over that bridge to the east of Nipton soon after leaving Nipton and tirggered a legion raid, ran out of explosives, went to guns and gladius' and did finish them, although I was in poor health.  Decided to backtrack into that rad scorpion infested plain around Nipton to see what might be around there, (no big deal, right?), and then another raiding party came at me just as I was getting mauled by a bunch of nightstalkers.  It didn't end well.  Figured it was too early for that sort of nonsense, so I reloaded and focused on exploring as opposed to making too many enemies too early on.

Wasn't the last time I reloaded, since I decided to try my hand at the Legendary Deathclaw (by accident) just a bit up the road.  I was spent before I even got to the end of the cave with all the minions laying in wait, and he pretty much one-hitted me.  His end had to wait awhile, until I could level and re-acquaint myself with my old friend mr. landmine.  Wasn't my best day in NV.

Good times though.

That's why I kept TC armor, I could repair my Ranger armor with it.  That's right.

Oh, and I've never run into the too easy problem very often.  Shooters rarely give me problems on their highest difficulty, but they don't really count in this discussion.  RPGs always provide a challenge to me, because I'm still relatively noob-ish with them compared to many here, and I will set the difficulty normally to something just under drudgery, so I can still have fun with them.

A new observation today: kill or lose Skill increases.

I was in a minor quest with a new PC, and made it to a small vacant guard tower, and Saved. Thing is, what I did not know is that I was being stalked by a sabre-tooth tiger, and it would pounce right after any reload, and could 2-3 shot me with my starting 100 HP.

So I chose to use Calm spell, and use the down time for healing and re-preperation. But the kitty had vanished; could not find it anywhere, so I continued onward on the Bounty quest. And what I found is a bunch of dead bandits. All of the outside dwelling bandits guarding the Lunar Forge had become catnip.

No Archery, Light Armor, Stealth, etc training; cat got it all. And these bandits never had a chance, because the rear exit from the ruins was guarded by a very large bear.

Nature; love it, or it will kill you....

How will ME3 be viewed in the post-Skyrim era?

I had a look in, braving the fanboyism.  My question would be, why did you ever think ME3 wouldn't be a linear, push-button shooter?  I have no illusions about it, and not many expectations, which I think is probably a safer course.  All I want is for Garrus to be awesome.

The phrase "post-Skyrim era" is bound to tee a lot of people off.  I imagine that at 40 pages, you've already found that out.  I don't think of Skyrim as revolutionary, just as a huge relief that someone still wants to make RPGs and they get rewarded for it.

So my mage-assasin is progressing pretty nicely. Level 20 so far, finally got the silent casting perk.

Boy it's way harder then the two-handed warrior. But also more satysfying and fun. Most humanoid and beast enemies I can handle with Calm and/or Frenzy. But I'm seriously struggling against atronachs and Draugr. Probably automatons too, but haven't fought any recently. I guess my sneak skills are still too low (around 55, Stealth 1/5) to approach an enemy from front... and sometimes they directly face the door/corridor/bridge. Also surprisingly enemy mages rip me apart even faster then they used to kill my warrior.. but fotunately I tend not to give them the chance.
Guess I will need to work on my enchanting more and get some Elemental/Magic Resist. Evenmoreso that I will probably start encountering dragons now.

Oh and Destruction really does feel lackluster. Runes barely tickle the Draugr and I need to unload a whole volley to kill just one..... it's night and day if I manage to backstab one (with no perks in 1handed, skill around 20... and Assasin's Blade, of course :) ). Not to mention fighting bosses... was running like a headless chicken during the Bleak Fall Barrow end Draugr Lord fight. Had to hide, heal & recharge, then re-engage like 6 times (and numerous reloads), before finally claiming the victory.

On the upside just got Impact, so maybe this will improve things. Also working towards achieving Adept Destruction level spells... but the damage figures don't seem to scale a lot... well at least there's the AOE, let's see.

yea car your right call of the dragon is awsome! but its only good when you use it to fight other dragons for you.

Or when attacking Forts, ruins, towers, etc. when full of opposing forces. Of course, it is quite entertaining to solo all of these, also.

Thus far, the only companions used have been those that the game forces me to take; can't stand the shoving, blocking, rushing ahead AI. This needs some work for future games, IMO.

I couldn't agree with you more this is the reason for which I don't take companions as well. I hate it when they block me in a  room and I've got to fight with them to get out. Or they run in fronto of my arrow shot just as I realease the arrow and take the full blow of it to the back. They could have done the AI better for your followers I would think

On Another note I stated a 3rd playthrough this time with a Female Nord who I'll have to admit turned out pretty good. Not only that there she's moving up pretty quickly. She's Level 16 the first day with 1handed 57 Heavy Armor 45 speech 30. These are what I remember off the top off my head.<G> And she's yet to be up to the top of the 7000 steps for the first time.<G> She's already got 100 areas marked on the map and got herself a home in Whiterun which took all the septums she had made up to that point. But she knows there's more septums out there to be made.<G> Ok now time to climb the 7000 steps for the first time. Oh yes she is collecting ores, pelts and indgredients as she comes across them. Going to have a day or to of noting but crafting.<G>

Ah... nothing like a good new TW2 run to remember how awesome that game is and to take a sweet and deserved break from Skyrim. v2.1 Dark Mode... a hell lot more challenging than anything Skyrim can throw at us!

I have a few games that are 9/10 for me but only three really than are 10/10. DA:O, Skyrim and TW2! So beautiful, so challenging, so hot! heh

Skyrim has a slightly advantage for me, mainly due to the Dragons movement. That's how Dragons should fight and move. It reminds me so much of Reign of Fire that I could bet it was the inspiration for the Dragons. Going to watch it again! hehe
