I think Destruction is underrated. I'm starting to tip again where it's not doing so much damage, but that's where Conjuration and Illusion come in. Impact plus double charging your spells helps, and enchanting. The bummer about mages is that you have fewer slots for buffs than people who use weapons do. Can't wait for the mod that will let you wear more than one ring. You do have to kite a lot. Summons will take some pressure off. When I get the dual summon perk, it will be nice to have a whole posse. All the magic schools level so darn slowly, though.Haplose wrote...
Oh and Destruction really does feel lackluster. Runes barely tickle the Draugr and I need to unload a whole volley to kill just one..... it's night and day if I manage to backstab one (with no perks in 1handed, skill around 20... and Assasin's Blade, of course). Not to mention fighting bosses... was running like a headless chicken during the Bleak Fall Barrow end Draugr Lord fight. Had to hide, heal & recharge, then re-engage like 6 times (and numerous reloads), before finally claiming the victory.
On the upside just got Impact, so maybe this will improve things. Also working towards achieving Adept Destruction level spells... but the damage figures don't seem to scale a lot... well at least there's the AOE, let's see.
I'm playing a mage/ spy, too, but built the magic up first and just now gave her some assassin perks. She's more honest than my DB/ TG character. It's kind of nice not to be ripping people off. Poor Brand-Shei, he will get to stick around this game.
