Wait until you can bowl into people and send them flying.

I did it to some Thalmor and sent and flying off a cliff.

Very much this.  It is worth taking the time to level blocking to 100 just to bowl pyro, necro, and whatever other overpowered mages off of ledges and send them flying and helpless.  Perhaps the most fun I've had in the game, and certainly the most satsifying thing for me to do to an enemy that owned me repeatedly early on in the process.  Revenge is sweet in Skyrim and shield charge is my preferred method of extracting it.

Try it in a room full of Daugr sometime (Dead Man's Respite comes immediately to mind)...then break out Dawnbreaker.  Good times bowling then setting them on fire and exploding in a spray of bones every so often.  As a matter of fact you might find youself giggling manically.

Quick Inquiry: What is your Fave Race? cCass? Perk Tree?

Mine would be Breton for the MR, Rogue for the included perks, and Stealth/ Sneak; amazing how it works in this game compared to others in which I avoiid it.

Favourite race? Tough to say. Orc for it's power, Nord for how it fits the setting and lore, Breton for power and general all-around usefullness... and maybe Altmer for Magicka.
The two-handed warrior is strong to the point of overpowerdness, Power attacks with a two-handed axe really cripple your enemies badly, most of the time they land on their knees and take real long to recover - if you fail to kill them outright.
But that becomes a bit boring after a while.

Currently have a lot of fun with my squishy mage-assasin, so I'd vote for that and the Illusion skill...

Speech and Lockpicking are probably  the only two trees in this game that lean towards the "pointless".  But of those two Lockpicking is probably worse.  At least with Speech you can get perks that allow you to sell anything to any merchant.  Compound that with the perk that lets you  invest in merchants and increase their money  + the perk that gives all merchants an extra 1000 gold, and  you 've much solved the hoop jumping tedium of selling your loot. Of course, by the time you've gotten all those perks, money is no longer a problem.....

I don't think Speech is useless but you need to take the haggling perk fairly early for it to do the most good.  Later in the game I usually fill it out to get the merchants more gold.  Riverwood Traders gets 10,000 gold from investing in him.  That Lucan, he's a tricky one.  And ladies, he's on the marriage market.  :D  (edit- correction, I just checked and he's not marriageable- too bad, I like him)

If you're using crafting to make money, it helps to be able to sell to any merchant and have them be able to buy stuff.

I've been playing nonstop since 11/11 and still not bored with it.  Looking forward to the Creation Kit coming out for the mods. 2012 looks like a bum year for RPGs so I hope we get a good expac, too.

You hit the TES wall already? :o

Oh well, it happens to us all at some point. Might be time to do one more radically different character, then leave it for a bit - give the nexus a chance to work up a decent crop of mods. :)

Wish I could say that. I've been playing Skyrim since mid November and can't have enough of it.
It's eating up way too much of my time!

Just read a cool notation on the Wikia that Ruined Books may be used to create Spell Tomes at the Atronach Forge. Nice to see some re-purposing for those librams, though I see little reason to do so.

And I have ben playing fairly steady since release. The main reason is that I have yet to see the complete map, and all that it has to offer. While I can get tired of searching the Undead for a few gold, still being able to be surprised by them just ain't getting old..

I just finished the quest "Taste for Blood". That was not the smartest priest in skyrim. You'd think taking a nap on a stone tablet with a giant spike above him would have driven the point home. Whoever said there's no such thing as a free lunch needs to head on over to namira's place.

As far as favorite race? I picked high elf due to the highborn racial and the stats for a mage, but I rather like the dark elves. Argonians are a very close second, though.

Which the bardmaster in Solitude also says.

I was kind of bummed that I could not learn an instrument and play for money or something.
I mean I can:
Mine ore, Harvest wood, harvest crops, and craft items...but I cant entertain people in a bar.

That would have been a cool mini-game to have where it lets you make some quick money.
Then again that probably is old after the Zelda games and all.

I kind of miss the option to kill anyone in the game who got annoying sometimes.

Oh Maven just pray to Stendarr that I dont make you unessential.

Add Sibbi to that list, not even Maven can get rid of him.

Sibbi isn't essential, you can kill him even though he's in prison (and sometimes he glitches into the neighboring cell, which makes it easier to kill him if you tend to use a blade in stealth mode like I do). I'm planning to see if the Ebony blade 'registers' him as a friend when I'm done with the TG radiant quests to become Guildmaster.

In my first playthrough, I kept holding on to the notion that if I found a song book, the bards would do new songs. My hopes and dreams were crushed.

Thanks for the info, i just assumed he was essential like Maven, and didn't bother attacking him.

So it's perfectly okay to take animal souls but not man/mer souls?

Poor animals :crying:

I trap Thalmor and Falmer souls all the time.

Both never really used their souls when they were alive, so I might as well use them.

I like to use soul trap on people who betray me. I love how Astrid was like "No, wait!" when I cast it on her and spoiled her plan.

Her soul gem rests on my mantle in Solitude. :wizard:

Don't worry - I heard tell that choices in Skyrim don't have consequences, so this sort of thing is probably in our imaginations :o

It should still work; same for my previous Orc, and he was a Stormcloak.

Perhaps one must finish this by ending the Civil War for perm solutions?

Dunmer, the "Dark Elves" of Morrowind. I've been a fan of dark elves since the Record of Lodoss War. As for class, it varies.

My first character was a Dunmer assassin, a bit of a Spellsword I suppose, using stealth, invisibility, muffle (until the proper equipment came along), and a one-handed weapon (a sword) for a direct confrontation (sometimes using conjuration to bring up a blade), or a dagger for stealth kills. I've re-created him for a new run, where he's using the Nightingale attire with an Ebony dagger.

My second character was a Dunmer Tribunal mage, which simply happened during character creation when I was originally planning on doing a proper run with my assassin, when it came to me when I noticed the mages I faced throughout Skyrim seemed pretty powerful, and I had wanted to create a Telvanni mage until the Tribunal warpaint inspired me to create a scion of the Almsivi. Mastered all the schools of magic as a pure mage; used all the spells at different times to deal with antagonists, often using destruction on enemies, turning enemies against one another (which is nice when you're facing a Dragon Priest and several Draugr Deathlords), and going into battle alongside two Dremora Lords who are fighting for the glory of Mehrunes Dagon.

Last night, Cosnach and I stumbled upon a couple of conjurers fighting...somebody.

We stealthed our way closer, and realized that they were fighting a group of stormcloak soldiers, who in turn were getting chased/attacked by Legion solders. Long story short - lots of dead bodies, and two Legion soldiers alive to tell the tale.

I walked up to talk to one of them, who proceeded to tell me that I wasn't fooling anyone; that he and all the other guards knew what Thieves Guild armor looks like.

And btw, conjurers really need to carry more equipment. I find it hard to believe that they feel ok leaving home with just a robe, shoes, and an unimproved iron dagger.

Up to level 14 now-I had a assassin from the Dark Brotherhood try to kill me as I was wandering around the countryside. I can't recall if I did anything bad enough for someone to hire a assassin to kill me.

I think you get assassins instead of hired thugs if you haven't joined the Dark Brotherhood. It could be because you stole something from a house, held onto an item for too long when someone wanted you to bring it to a specific person, or you killed someone who had friends who want payback.

You say that - once you get conjurational enough, you can basically wander around in your slippers and dressing gown yawning at potential threats. Even now at level 80 I can occasionally thrown down the storm atronach and file my nails while companion/atronach get the job done - although it still works out badly sometimes.

You know its kind of hard to really get anything done in Skyrim.

I keep heading out to hunt some animals for soul and leather and really dont move any plots forward.

I suppose that's true. Image IPB

I haven't actually gotten any of my characters up to level 80 yet. My first one I stopped around level 53, and I have a few others that are levels 20-30. I just created another new one a couple of days ago. I can't seem to stop myself! This new one is an Imperial, and she looks just like Vex...except that I got the hair color wrong. She actually does have white hair, apparently.
