They're talking about the Thalmor.LegendaryAvenger wrote...
Err, You know how Bethesda is with this. Khajiits aren't allowed in cities, yet I could just bypass guards as a Khajiit. My Altmer was talking to a Stormcloak:
"True daughter of Skyrim? We could use someone like you"
"So what are your goals?"
"We hope to drive the Legion out. Once them, we will kick those damn elves out too. Wanna join?"
"0_0"
And Khajiit are allowed in cities, just not the caravans. J'zargo can go with you anywhere, and there are a couple Khajiit who show up in towns who are Thalmor agents.
It's kind of funny that most of the beast races in Skyrim actually live down to the Nords' bad expectations of them. Even the caravans do sell moon sugar if not skooma. J'zargo, Derkeethus and Sorli the Builder's housecarl excepted. I think I posted here before about the caravaner who starts out saying "it's so unfair, the Nords all think we're smugglers and thieves"... "so what are you doing in Skyrim?"... "oh, I got kicked out of Elsweyr and Cyrodiil for run-ins with the law"....

I slaughtered my way through the Thelmor embassy. In my underpants because I screwed up and didn't give the dude any weapons or armor. Nonetheless, High Elves are nice and smushy.

Regardless, not one time did the Stormcloaks acknowledge that my high elf character was a high elf. Just a foreigner. Kind of like how people were tossing the word "Lizard" back and fourth with my Argonian character in Oblivion. Except Countess Allesia...Addai67 wrote...

And yes, other than a few exceptions, Khajiit do tend to live up to their reputation.

My Orcs eyes went from being one yellow and the other grey to them both being yellow.....
I have to go look through my saves to see how that happened.
Although its seriously fun to ignore safety and go berserk on people.
By the end of the game it probably will come close to giving 60 seconds of invulnerability.

As for the debate of who`s side is right ( Stormcloaks or the Empire ) . I think there are good points on both sides .
Does Ulfric care about the Nord way of life or does he only care about power for himself and he is using the turmoil to position himself politically .
Is the Empire selling everyone else out to save themselves or are they going the best they can when they are in a hard spot .
For me i don`t agree with Ulfric ( i think he just wants power ) but i want a free Skyrim so i joined up .
A side note the Imperial guard say to you " What the rebels like to forget is that the Empire is whats keeping the Aldmeri Dominion out of Skyrim " but as we all know thats BS .

My character and I think that the Imperials are the "reasonable" side to join but overall, the Civil War is just one petty squabble distracting from the real problems like Thalmor encroachment or the dragons, so he'll leave the Stormcloaks or Imperials to kill one-another. Which is why I kill every bit of Thalmor scum I see.Busy Jackalope wrote...

That's never happened to me even on my last playthrough where I was completely decked out in Daedric gear and made it a point to seek out and complete every single Daedric quest. So I don't think their hostility towards you has to do with that. The Woldan wrote...
I just got attacked by a Vigilants of Stendarr patrol for no reason while simply traveling on the coastline. Could it be that they don't like people who make daedra quests and carry daedric equipment with them?
But considering the game's AI, there could be a ton of reasons why vigilants of Stendarr would go hostile.
1) Are you an archer? Arrows launched in an upward arc (like when you're trying to hit flying dragons) can travel pretty far in this game. Did a stray arrow hit one of them without you knowing it?
2) Are you a mage? Dremoras and Atronochs are Daedra. If they see you summoning those things, they'll sometimes attack
3) Is there a mage nearby that might have 'charmed' them?
4) Did you rob their headquarters?
5) Did you get too close to them while wearing the Ebony Mail? (the magic chest piece that does poison damage to anyone who gets too close to you)
6) Are you a werewolf or vampire? If they see you transform, or in the case of the latter, sense your vampirism, they'll attack.

They're cute together. And by cute I mean "wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley."

It's kind of amazing when you see the wolf brothers without their scruffiness. There's a mod that cleans them up. I wouldn't use it myself but they are fine looking beastly Nords. Maybe I'd use it if I end up getting them a cure.

Forelhost is a hell of a maze with several ways in to the final chamber; btw, those folks who try to draw some sort of equivalence to Bethesda environment copy/pasting to Bioware's in DA2...well, I just don't get it. I've recently been in and out of multiple dungeons trying to locate all Word Walls and the variation in environmental design is breathtaking. So I really fail epically in any attempt to understand the comparison of the 3 caves in DA2 to the literally hundreds that Skyrim has. But, each to his/her own view of things I suppose.
Forelhost had Deathlords out the wazzoo, and the few that weren't Deathlords were Scourges and Wights, and when you finally get to the Dragon Priest Rahgot at the end, out of nowhere come six more Deathlords to fight with him. I only found two crypts besides his in his chamber; still wondering where the rest of them came from. Lot's of tricks and traps throughout with an elevator floor that'll will hammer you into the ceiling if you get caught on it, and kill you instantly, which added some adventure while fighting four Deathlords in extremely close quarters. Add to that being betrayed by Captain Valmir, the Imperial a-hole who sends you in there in the first place, right when you exit. Oh well, I get to keep everything now that he's no longer with the living.
Anyway, it's a great and challenging dungeon for those who haven't found it yet, the loot's superb, and I walked out with piles of ebony weapons to add to my already bloated collection. Still some surprises left out there in Skyrim even after 350 hours when you press yourself to find all locations.

Playing a Mage is much different, and more difficult for me than the others. But I have noticed that there are a large variety of ways to approach a goal. Just discovered that Magelight is considered an attack, and will turn folks hostile. This could be useful later, coupled with Throw Voice in setting up a kill zone. And the various elemental Cloak spells are killers; much more effective than I had seen previously.
Q: What Magika score is recommended for a primary Mage? 400? 500? Trying to figure out how much to place into Health and Stamina, and currently have them at 200 each. Thanks for any helpful advice!

More health is always good... but why would you ever take stamina on a mage-type character?
My Magessasin does a lot of melee and I've never felt any need to raise Stamina above starting 100.
200 sounds like a sufficient level for a pure Fighter, who isn't specialized in block.

Not sure about Magicka. Guess it would depend what kind of spells you use (Destruction would be most demanding) and how much you will enchant your gear to reduce the casting cost. If everything you cast costs 0 (possible for 2 schools), you wouldn't need much Magicka. Up to your preference, really. I guess I will want some 500-600 myself.

Stamina affects carrying capacity, and my current kit leaves ca. 200 lbs for extra portage, plus Stamina aids Archery; my minor class. Avoiding multiple trips to dungeons and shops is also a key element for me; hate the possible hauls (eg; scrap metal, ingots, Heavy armor pieces, etc), and take only what is desired. And I am able to leave all the Stamina potions on the shelves.
Thanks for the tip; am currently aiming at 500 Magika , so this looks to be on track.

I agree that Skyrim has a plethora of dungeons , caves, ruins, etc; tis the redundancy in VO and dialogue that irritate me. But I generally solve the problem of recognizing which NPC sounds the same, and skip taking companions on my trips to avoid irriatation. Solo play is fine with me, but avoiding companions and NPC's is not a fix that should remain in future games.

Cost reduction is more imporortant than magika. On higher difficulties where there is a danger of getting one-shotted, you'll regret having 500 magika and no health.

1/4 of my characters cared about the civil war and he was a Nord. The oaths required to join either camp were a turn off for the other 3.

Does anybody know which races get yellow/gold eyes as vampires aside from Argonians and Khajiit? I'm planning something for future playthroughs.
I let my Altmer become a vampire for a moment just to see what he looked like and he had the gold eyes. In fact he didn't really look different at all except for his pupils (since Altmer already have yellow eyes).

Yep, that' it. They start off taunting you by puting the word wall out front in plain site but frustratingly out of reach: no Dragonborn, you must run the Deathlord guantlet through three chambers for your Storm Call upgrade. It only gets better from there imo.
BTW, evidently I was wrong, you do have only a single way (swim through the well) to reach the Refectory where Rahgot and his minions are. I had just made the right choice apparently, having abandoned what I thought was going to be the hard way (where of course there happened to be a key!) and went back to pick the master lock securing the well and just getting lucky finding the glass claw, which was laying about on the ground with some other random junk.
Like you said, great level design.

Never using any magic except for shouts makes the game pretty damn fun.
Though I doubt Malacath is like Khrone and really cares about using magic.
Then again I guess not everyone can do magic in TES verse.

Bound swords.
Also, running. Very important for your longevity as a magic user, is the ability to run.
