My Orc finally hoofed it to Riften yesterday, and bought the Amulet of Mara. Ghorbash, my follower, said a couple of different things about it when talking to him. I didn't realize he was a marriageable NPC! Happy dance!
I later spoke with Moth gro-Bagol, the Orc blacksmith in Understone Keep (Markarth), and he also said something sweet! I'm sure Gat gro-Shargakh (Left Hand/Kolskegger Mine) probably says the same stuff, but awww. To me, the male Argonian and Orc marriageable NPCs are the most romantic in the game.
Decisions, decisions.
Some of the Nords are just...meh. "Wanna get hitched?" "Why sure!" "Derp-a-derp-derp."
Granted, this is not my first Skyrim spring romance, so I'm aware of what I'm getting into...but if you're going to bother, at least make it interesting.
I was tempted to hold out for one of the sexy orc men, but Farkas has too many advantages. You can continue to adventure with him and the Companions seem sort of like family. Plus, I think his personality meshes really well with my orc, even though I picture her as a bit more cerebral than your average orc. She collects books and has some alchemy. I just have fun picturing their conversations.
Farkas: What are you doing?
Shar: This is a book. It's called reading.
-long pause-
Farkas: When you're done, wanna go beat up on some bandits?
Shar:

On the down side, thus far his marriage dialogue is exactly the same as Balimund's was, so it's like marrying Balimund all over again. They could have had the VA record a few different lines.
