Quite a nice character indeed. But that choice of armor surprises me. Steel equipment is fine (perhaps even best in terms of looks), but iron are just plain ugly IMO.

Well they do give a rugged look I suppose, if that's what you're after.

I blame the female nord on the roads with the Mo-hawk hairdo and "milk-drinker" comment, she's really the inspiration for this pc.

Also I'm blaming my mage who has a 'entering jarl palaces CTD' bug for starting a new toon, hopefully the 1.4 patch will alleviate the bug.

On a random note! I love this game but every single armor set looks so dumb in this game! If it is snowing everywhere you go why do all the armors and clothing show so much skin?

Reason: Graybeard outposts with awesome vantage points. Or did you really believe the Clear Skies Shout was being used for just mist?

Man I just had a MAJOR flash back to Fallout New Vegas.

Saw some Thalmor walking along the road and took them down with three stealth archery shots.
Just like I sniped off squads of Legion boys with Boone.

Something about hearing that impact noise from one-hit killing someone at long range is awesome.
Though my friend says its more funny to rob them off all their gear and watch them get mauled by animals.

I liked the look of iron on my orc early on.  It does have a rugged look, and doesn't have the molded breasts which are just... ugh.  Not as prominently as other sets, anyway.  Some of the "lower order" armors are better looking than the higher tier ones.  With smithing improvements, they can also be functional for a long time.  Their appearance will also change subtly as you upgrade them.

You know I really HATE how Dwemer armor changes when a female wears it.

On a guy it looks bad ass.
On a chick...it really loses its edge.

Same with ebony armor. Sad, really.

Nord, of course! I don't know about William Wallace, but Robert the Bruce had Norse heritage. There was a lot of Viking settlement in Scotland.

true, true.  most of British Isles were conquered by the Vikings.  I'll name my Nord Cnut. lol  I'll make my Redguard Shaka Zulu.

Speaking of conquest and raiding, do the Nords raid as much as their irl counterparts?  Are they good seafarers?  The Nords seem more landlocked then the vikings

Nords have raided and attacked Morrowind on more than one occasion.
In fact the strongholds you can visit in Morrowind were to prevent stuff like that happening.

Then again the Dunmer were colossal dicks who were slavers at the time.

I don't think the Nords took the whole 'slaver' thing as a reason to attack. They just attacked because that's their nature. Hello Falmer. :)

Question. I want to play as a rogue on my next playthrough. Is it imperative I go to Riften immediately after Whiterun so I can begin the Thieves Guild quests?

The same question for a mage. Do I go right away to Winterhold tojoin the Mage's College?

No, you do what you want. You go where you want. You can easily play a Mage and not ever join the College. Same with a Rogue/Thief. :)

Nope; you may write your own path.

For myself, putting the College off for a while actually is more appealing after a few playthroughs, as becoming the Archmage with low magical skill seems way off for me. The TG quests are more lenient; seem far more instructive for lower lvls, and one seems to have become an accomplished  thief to have completed the quests. IMO.

Because this game would look silly  if everyone walked around  wearing coats, ski masks and scarves.

You know I really wonder where all the extra dark brotherhood members keep coming from.

Arent they you know...in decline or something.
This is like the fourth or so assassin I killed.
Yeesh.

One of the early DB quests may solve this.

Rumors abound about a job, and is one that is hard to decline due to the potential target. Plus the Dragonborn seems to sport a decent commision, too. So we have supply amd demand.

Well...uhm so finally an assassin sneaks up on my orc.
Sadly it went mostly like this:

I love my Orcish armor and Volendrung.
Somehow I know that Malacath is watching in pride for my Orc.

As others have said, you don't even have to go to Whiterun at all if you don't want to.  The benefit of the guilds is that you get goodies and access to trainers.

Well if you take the fact that Tiber Septim was a Nord, they raided the whole freaking continent.  lol  I don't think they have the same reputation as seafarers that the Vikings had.

Snow Elves- now that is different.  The Nords were responding to the Night of Tears.

Plus, the Main and some of the Faction quests are fairly well planned on getting one to roam Skyrim itself.

But one may also choose not to visit some areas; my latest Mage has yet to see Dawnstar or even encountered the intro quests of Markath, Windhelm, and a couple others. I chose this time to focus on the main story and the College of magic, and plan to explore and wrap with the Daedric confrontations.
