I also get antsy to try new characters so sometimes I just progress the main quest, kill Alduin and retire.

The character I had most fun playing (and I think was the most powerful) was a breton dual-wielding / conjurer. Just by using the generic loot found in the game she torn through everything.

Is it me or is the breton's racial noticably better than all the others?  I guess the designers realized that and compensated by making their facial models so damn ugly.

I too hate that you can't access Sarenthaal without being a mage apprentice.

You don't always get the prompt to say you're a Dragonborn. The only time I got it was late in the game when I needed to get the Elder Scroll. And they still treat your level 40 character who has a vast collection of dragonbons and dragonscales in their home as an "apprentice."

That sticks to everyone though.

Like that steward in Solitdue.
Yeah sure lady the orc who can breathe fire and turn into a werewolf really will have a hard time with some measly little blood suckers. :bandit:

Or more amusingly when I saw 4 bandits all get killed by the Old Orc.
OLD MAN STRENGTH!

Okay, I'm just going to throw this out there...Anyone else at 400 hours (or something comparable) and still playing the original character you started with on 11-11-11?

Just had a look at Steam. I've currently got 449 hours logged and I currently have 8 characters. Still playing my first character though, he's up to level 52 with almost 200 hours put into him. I generally just swap about playing a bit of each character and then changing to another. I was originally going to only have the one character and do everything but my first character has encountered the bulk of the bugs I've seen (first and foremost, my Companion questline is bugged to all hell on that character), so I started making characters who would only do specific things. Even created an alt start character who technically isn't the Dragonborn and will just be an adventurer and also I'm forcing myself to not use fast travel with her, and she has to eat and sleep regularly, something I've never really tried before.

Suffice it to say, regularly deleting all of my saves other than the auto-saves and the most recent save for each character has become a necessity. They were really eating into my disk space.

You know even though we have discussed it to death and all...Delphine is a real ****.

I mean you have a right to demand an explanation and SHE gets all offended by that.
I really am glad I can tell her to STFU and walk away at the end.

Ugh, I hate Delphine so much. I keep putting off the main quest, just to avoid dealing with her. She and Esbern crossed the line, dern it.

Urgh, I hate her too. I have to kill so and so? Really? It was thousands of years ago, way to hold a grudge! By the way didn't he teach men to use the Th'um and causing the fall of Alduin, nice way to repay him. : )

Esbern is not so bad but Delphine REALLY drives me up the wall.

The Greybeards dont demand I follow their way of thinking or boss me around.
Delphine tries to make you her slave but accuses the Greybeards of doing that to you.

Uhm Arngeir pretty much just says he is your teacher but not your master.
Delphine treats you like she IS your Boss and really just grates on me.

Besides I always get a little kick when the Greybeards say "Dovahkhin" and the building shakes.

I never used the Altmer or Nord racial abilities but definitely use Berserk on my orc character.  It's so wonderful.  Image IPB

Hheheeee.

I just walked down the road of Falkreath while a thug who wanted my money was stabbing me and doing no damage really.

He ended up beating himself to death.
Stop hitting yourself indeed

I just got one of the most lol worthy perks in Skyrim.

Reflect Blows from the heavy armor tree.
A drauger death lord just wound up to smack me but got itself killed.
Than I just let some skeletons beat themselves to death as I walked through the dungeon.

It is very funny to see a giant kill itself from hitting you.

What?

Are you playing on Novice mode or something?

You know, the better your armor rating, the less damage reflect blows will do, making it the most useless perk on the Heavy armor tree.  If you're at the Armor cap, a Giant will hit you and do about...   10 damage to himself.  But only once per 10 hits or so.       For a giant to have killed himself hitting  you, the fight must have lasted about a half hour.  lol

I found the Nord ability very useful when I was getting overwhelmed in fights.

I waited until his health was at a very tiny sliver before doing it.

The giant came first actually and I wanted for his huge wind up attack to do it.

I don't like the Nord battle cry because enemies just run away. I don't want them to run away, I want them dead. lol That's why Berserk > Battle Cry.

I think I only used the battle cry once, when I encountered an ice wraith I couldn't beat at low level and I didn't have a save close to it.

For all the hype about Max von Sydow and Joan Allen, Esbern and Delphine are the most boring and annoying characters in the game. Terribly written, too. Bethesda wasted a lot of money there.

I like Esbern, but all the potential kind of goes out the window with the Paarthurnax thing. Forced choices are okay when they make sense. When they're forced because NPCs are rigidly incompetent, then yeah, that's bad writing. It would have been much more interesting if they had argued with each other, with one of them wanting to eradicate dragons and the other taking a more pragmatic approach, and you had to choose which to side with.

Re werewolves- I'm not getting sleep bonuses even after being cured. Is that a general bug, or just a side effect left over or what? Guards also still refer to hair growing out of her ears.

I'm pretty sure the  "fur growing out of your ears" comment from guards happens even if you never join the companions. However, the "your wolfish grin is unsettling" line IS werewolf specific.

Don't know about the rest bonus thing. You *should* be getting it after you're cured. The only time you wouldn't is when you're under the effects of the Lovers Stone.

Question: are you still getting the message "your beast blood prevents you from getting a restful sleep" when you wake up?

You sure you cured yourself or some other companino with you?
İ happen to cure Vilkas even he was without me sitting at guild house while i was battling with spectral wolf...

If you are sure than its is a bug :( Never heard of something like that tough. And i have sucsesfully healed myself 3 times.

Edit:

"The "fur growing out of your ears" comment from guards happens even if you never join the companions"
lol really?? never heard that one even with my Khajit.

Nope; great VO, just poor allies and companions. I take solice in choosing the Greybeads with Christopher Plummer.

Well, I don't see them as  particularly boring or annoying.  (both of them have a serious beef with the Thalmor, so right off the bat there's some  common ground.   However,  the writing behind the choice of "Blades vs. Greybeards" truly baffles me.  Because Bethesda seems to have done absolutely nothing to make it a difficult choice.

You're a player, and here's what you have  to work with to make your decision

 The Greybeards:
1) You meet the Greybeards first.
2) they nurture you, they teach you the Thu'um.  And then they continue to point you to word walls throughout the game.
3) They hail and revere you in every dialogue.
4) They have the respect of just about every important  NPC in the game

The Blades:
1) They seem to come out of nowhere and quickly insert themselves into the picture.
2) Delphine isn't particularly friendly,  or powerful, or open with information, or even  moderately approachable
3) Demands.  They make them to the Dragonborn, as if he/she is in a  position of servitude.  There's no kinship  (or at least I felt none)
4) the game does do a decent job of portraying Esbern as someone deserving of respect, but then they force him to take a back seat to Delphine and her plots almost immediately after you reclaim  the Sky Haven temple (or whatever its called) for them.

This makes for a rather SIMPLE choice and not a delemma in the slightest.  I choose the Greybeards.  For people who don't/didn't, what was your motivation for siding with the Blades?

Always Greybeards, cant choose Blade, i just cannot..
I tried with my last 3 characters but couldnt, i cant stand Blades, doing their dirty jobs before in other games but not ths one.

Paarthurnax is way better than them. His VO is enough.

The thing that makes me sad is that the Blades were really awesome in Morrowind and Oblivion,
Caius Cosades literally was the guy who lead you and helped a great deal.
In Oblivion the blades did help you a great deal and were a very handy group.

Yet in Skyrim...we get Dumb and Dumber who try and get you to kill probably one of the cooler dragons since Draco in Dragonheart.

I totally have no desire to help them once I saw Paarthurnax jump into the fray against Alduin and help me. He calls the three nord heroes his friends, he NEVER gave me even the smallest reason to hesitate about getting his help.

I may do it on my pro-imperial Khajiit but than again my Khajiit is a bit of a bastard.

The coolest Blade was Lady Brisienna.

The Blades are just a relic of the past in Skyrim, the best thing to do is disable essential NPCs and put both out of their misery.

And that fact that he's an insider.  Which makes him a classic ally.  Because that's how you bring down  the "powerful, unapproachable' villian-type: you befriend someone who used to belong  to the  inner circle, and knows all the secrets, but now wants to  betray the old boss.

What is up with Namira's Ring? I thought it was great for a while, but eventually, got tired of "Feed" being an option every time I looted a dead body. So I took the ring off. And it still prompts me. So I left the stupid thing in a chest in my house in Markarth, and OMG, it still persists.

Is there any way to fix this (aside from mods, I'm on console)?

P.S. My character is not a werewolf or vampire.
