Yeah, baby!

Please note, the linked video contains imagery that may be offensive to those who don't support their modding communities :D

Wonder what the checking process is going to be for mods on Steam.

It would be different from the nexus since its attached to valve now and mods they release will get tied into their name if its on their service.

People were mad enough at nude tomb raider mods even though the developers had nothing to do with it back then, so there might be some back lash here and there.

There will be a report button and I imagine any mods that violate the Steam TOS will be reported.

With tens of thousands of mod files, Valve will need to rely on end users to check this sort of thing.

My guess is that the people who want nudie mods badly enough will learn how to use the NMM, and that the Steam service is a way to lure people who don't regularly mod but want to to buy their games through Steam. Maybe even people coming over from console to PC. It's a good thing IMO. Expanding the PC gamer base would be a win.

Their dialogue creation and structuring tools are much more impressive than what they had in previous toolsets. Looks very nice.

I haven't played Skyrim for almost a month now and I dunno if I honestly feel like getting back in to mod like I had planned (it's hard to mod for a game you're not really interested in playing anymore and that's assuming I have the talent to make good mods to begin with), but that CK video has made the idea a little more appealing.

I usually go for that old woman that wanted to be a Companion in the Whiterun Inn.  Fist fighting her wasn't enough, i usually use her for the sacrifice lol

Uthgerd?  She's not old.  Image IPB  40 at most.

I get sick of people hating on her because she's not some fawning princess.  Bunch of milk drinkers.

Uthgerd the Unbroken is one of my favourite followers. Some of my higher level characters still go adventuring with her every now and then. At least Uthgerd's never pushed me off the bridge at Valtheim Towers just before I could kill off the bandit chief. *glares at Lydia*

This has been posted here already, right? I'm not browsing past posts for it, just assuming, but in any case here it is again! =)

Well, apparently the take-over of Skyrim continues... they have ported Geralt of Rivia himself, complete with Raven armor... For your amusement, here are some of the Skyrim mods with Witcher stuff in them. One thing I have to say, while they still look better than anything in Skyrim, the W2 models look awful in Bethesda's rendering engine, as compared to how they look within W2, even at the lowest settings.

And an observation: if CDProjekt would just release and editor for the game, and a couple tools/tutorials for packing/unpacking meshes, it could get interesting around here :)

Geralt himself

Iorweth

Triss' outfit (there are a few similar mods, plus a bunch of retextures)

Triss' head :) (which automatically makes the best looking female model in the game)

Helmets and knight armors

Witcher and knight armors, including Letho's and female version of Iorweth (although he put Letho's on a scrawny dude)

I kind of wonder how Geralt would handle facing off against foes in Skyrim.

But the giants would probably be the first group to then put a Witcher into space.

Companion horses should be a priority mod.
Or horseback combat.

I mean until one or both of those comes out no horses for me.

God I hope not.

If they're going to  start placing  rigid rules/limitations on the modding community, then what's the point   (from the modder's perspective) of putting  the mods on Steam in the first place?

By making these mods accessable to Steam, They're on to something  big,  something that could potentially revolutionize the industry.  I hope they're smart about this.  At the very most, mods containing adult content should get their own section, clearly flagged as "ADULT",  with the adequate warnings.  And nothing more.

I'm sure you could, but I'm also sure I wouldn't be able to do 99% of them. Although if you wanted a naked Ulfric mod, I guess my reason for not doing it is choice, not lack of ability.

The Deadly Reflex team deserves an inordinate amount of praise for their hard work for getting Horse Combat working in Oblivion, let alone the way they've improved combat mechanics and features. I think it'd take a talented and dedicated team months or years to get working horse combat.

OTOH, a for-hire Horse Companion doesn't really present too many issues for the CK as far as I can tell.

They might do that, but if it breaks Steam's TOS, what other options are there?

What exactly IS steam's TOS on community mods? Where can I read it?

I have no idea, honestly. But there is a subsection of the Bethesda modding community who make mods that really disturb me and in no way shape or form would I want to see their work on Steam.

Hahaha

I don't know what's more disturbing, the mod itself, or the fact that it was downloaded 254,000 times.

Somebody describe the mod, please. I don't want to register on that site only to view it.

Yes the new patch is out but as one who has beta tested the patch it's fixed some things like quest items still remaining in inventory but it did break one of the Daedric quests. And me and several others tried to tell them this but it seems they didn't fix it with the release of the patch. This is one of the reasons for which I hate a game that auto updates.

You can disable auto update : open Steam, select library, select Skyrim, right click and select
properties, select updates, then choose "do not automatically update
this game", close.

Actually, haven't noticed any ill effect with the patch at the moment, it even solved a bug in one of my main char's quests.

Will have to admit that the only horse for which I use is Shadowmere as that is the best horse in the game plain and simple. As for companions there are to many cons in regards to using companions as compared to the pros.
Only thing I found a companion good for is carry crap.

As for combat or anything else not so good. As they stand in door ways that you need to get through run in front of you about the same time you fire an arrow and get killed. They disappear and it takes forever to locate them again. They are good at ruining the stealth of a stealthy character and many more. As for me I found that running solo is best. Until the AI is done better for the companions I won't use one I'll stick with a horse.

Don't get me wrong I've tried to run with a companion while playing the game but it just don't work out.

Well now will have to admit that is something for which I didn't know there as this is my first time using Steam. Might have to do that there.

Hopefully in the next patch they will fix the broken Daedric quest as well as for finding a way to obtain the house in Windhelm earlier than what you can do so currently. Because the way for which it is right now you can't buy the house till you've all but got the civil war quest done.
