Than again EVERYONE is a little bit racist across Skyrim.

Well, the forsworn seem to be equal opportunity employers.  Who else can claim having hagravens in their company :wizard:

I wonder what High Rock will do if Skyrim is successful in ceding from the Empire. Hammerfell and Skyrim both aren't traditionally to fond of magic. Hammerfell/Redguards sacked Orsinium and hate Conjuration magic(Breton's forte). They will be separated from the Empire, and fairly vulnerable to an attacking nation.

Here is one of the problems with owning too many houses - I had Gaius Maro's travel plans (DB quest), and stashed them in a container in one of my houses....then misplaced it.

I spent a little time trying to find it again, but realized it was a fool's errand, considering that it could be in any bookshelf, nightstand, chest, etc., so I decided to just wing it - if I was ever in the same city as him, I would just do the assassination wherever and whenever it came.

His time ended up being in Riften. When I arrived there, I saw that he was leaving the keep, and walked to the front entrance, and left. I reloaded, and tried to think of the best place to snipe him from. I ended up going up to the front balcony of the house between Riftweald Manor and Aerin's house. I found the perfect spot, added poison to my arrow, and waited for him to walk by. The first couple of tries, I missed, but finally, I was able to tag him with a paralysis poison. I hit him with a couple more arrows, and he finally died, right in front of the entrance.

It didn't look like anyone was hostile, so I ran down the steps in the back, and got swarmed by city guard. My follower Borgakh started attacking, so I did as well, with the thought that I'd just reload if things got too bad. Long story short, we took out all of the town guard in the area, and the bounty got erased, because the last witness was killed. Phew! All of this happened behind the houses, so it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. I then ran over, fed on Maro (thanks, Namira), planted the incriminating letter, and ran back to the shadows.

In retrospect, aside from a few blunders on my part, it seemed like the perfect crime, in the perfect city. I was so proud of myself. It went way better than when I tried to take him out in the guard barracks in Markarth in a previous playthrough.

I kind of giggled to myself when his daddy referenced the DB killing his son. If only he knew what else my Orc did to him.

Aye!  Though somehow I can't reconcile the older Viking image with the many Euro-weenies of today.  I digress...

That's one of the things I absolutely love about this game. Even after this much time invested in it, it still finds ways to surprise and amaze me.

True, I try to keep myself from being jaded about things despite having spent so many hours in it.  I was amazed the first time I saw a beehive, which was like on my 3rd game.  Had to spend 5 minutes chasing bees for potions, despite my RL fear of them.  Then on this game I noticed a line of ants for the first time, crawling around a stone marker.  Sadly not lootable for alchemy but it was a reminder of how much detail is in the world.

^ I didn't see any beehives in my first playthrough, either. It was probably my 2nd or 3rd playthrough, but I'm not exactly sure.

I also didn't realize that scaly pholiota was found on trees downed by bears (the birch-looking white ones). That, I just realized over the weekend. It makes me a little sad that I'm so unobservant.

Now that I'm really getting into alchemy, I'm finding the sources of lots of ingredients that I was previously paying for. That's handy, since it seems like most of the Alchemists are apparently being killed by dragons in my absence, since their stores never open, and I haven't seen them around.

^^ I didn't get half the alchemy ingredients until my third character either. Bees, giant lichens, that scaly philiota stuff, and Bird's nests are not exactly conspicuous. I still cant find Canis Root...

^ I didn't know what the actual bush looked like until I saw the garden in the Dawnstar sanctuary. Apparently Canis Root is found:

In the Rift, the bushes are found in birch woods near rock formations or at the base of cliffs. They are also found in swampy regions such as Hjaalmarch.

I haven't looked for them out in the wild, but I need to. I have a paralysis poison I like to craft with them. Image IPB

You know why I like the Grey Beards?
Because they say thank you and treat you with respect.

Hearing the mountain rumble when they say "Dovahkhin" and seeing that little bow of respect they do gives you a very nice feeling.
Not once do the Blades thank you, or even tell you, you did a good job.

They are your teachers, guides, and provide a great deal of help across the board.
You know I honestly think my Orc would just retire up there and kick back at the end of his career.

Canis root is scarce, but once you learn to recognize the root you start to see them. The only place I've noticed more than an isolated one is in the woods around Riften.

I have yet to find a giant lichen in the wild. Only recently figured out what juniper berries (jyoonipurr burries, hello Ralof get out of my head  Image IPB) looked like.

Giant Lichen are usually very close to Swamp Fungal Pods; so if you find one of those, Giant Lichen are nearby. They look like this:

And now you'll find them everywhere.

Aww, Ralof. Image IPB

Oy, thanks. I'm sure they've been hiding in plain sight the whole time. Gorbash and I were crawling around Morthal swamps just last night collecting alchemy supplies. It would be hilarious if he would bust out with a "WTF are we doing here" type comment once in a while.

I like Ralof because he refers to the other guy in the cart as "Horse Thief" like that's his name or something :wizard:

Ralof is a sweetheart. I didn't take to Hadvar really, he was irritating even before he started following me everywhere. Ralof's line "I don't think Galmar even knows my name" made me d'awww. I wish you could tell him that Ulfric knows his name.

You're using Ghorbash as a follower? He's my Orc's husband in this playthrough.  Image IPB He and Borgakh both seem to have a pretty good AI as followers. I didn't know for the longest time that he's actually better with light armor (despite his steel default). Or that he's an archer!

It would be nice if there were more random bits of dialogue.

Borgakh was my first ever follower in the game. Felt a bit guilty about stealing her away since Orcs are a dying race and all, but what the heck.

Marriage is largely for the lulz, though. The only NPC I genuinely wanted to marry, was unavailable even with console commands. Poor Kharjo.

I had him for a while.  It was a little deflating that he had almost exactly the same dialogue as Borghakh.  He is good, though.  I ditched him for Roggi Knot-Beard.  I may go back to an all-orc team though.

Both of them are good archers!  I gave them a couple ebony arrows and enchanted bow and they were going to town.

Eh, the Blades in Skyrim are good for nothing.  They are the exact opposite of their Oblivion counterparts.  I take that back, they're good for two things...Katanas and Dragonbane.

Other than that...squat!  Kill Paarthurnax?  Seriously?  This is what has become of the Blades?  See ya.  Oh, and any attempt on his life...and Dovahkiin will erase the Blades from existence.

I too am a Greybeards disciple.  They are respectful and bend over backwards to assist...to the point that I really began to feel like I was wearing my welcome out, with the insane amount of times I approached Arngeir to put me on another World Wall.  He was always gracious and welcoming.  Of course they, and the dragons, are the only ones who truly comprehend the Dragonborn.

The monk's life at High Hrothgar would suit my PC; no better place for him to retire to until Sovngarde calls for him.  There's a slight wrinkle there though.  Him being married to Mjoll...well...let's just say spending his golden years in a contemplative life of silence is not really in the cards. Image IPB

Huh looking at the hard copy map I got in my Skyrim box what are all the little x marks on it I wonder?
After I finish the main quest I will look into that.

When I read this I went and looked at my map and was surprised to see a lot of little red crosses dotted about. I'm not certain, but I think they might be the locations of the military camps. Certainly the red cross in Whiterun Hold seems to be perfectly placed for the Stormcloak camp on the south side of the river nestled near the Throat of the World. Just an idea though, it could be something else entirely.

Has anyone else had trouble with getting the DB quest To Kill An Empire to work? I've tried a few things and every time I run across the bridge outside the Emperor's Tower I get stopped by the Occularly challenged agents and I hear Maro clapping, but he doesn't show up and speak to me. So I just get some slow clapping and then me and the agents stand around wondering what the hell's going on. I think I might have to load up an earlier save and go through the whole quest again.

As far as I know Gordon Ramsay's never poisoned a Fake!Emperor and stabbed the rest of the party. Serves them right for making Walks-In-Shade wear a silly hat. Can't cook without a hat she says?

Well...my Orc is going to marry Aela so then I doubt she really would want to do that either.
Probably will spend the last part of his life trying to get her to give up being a werewolf before the end.

Since he gave it up after going to Sovngarde.

I wish Maven was available as a spouse. I'd marry her for no reason than to keep her at home, where her only purpose in life  becomes buying my stuff and cooking me a meal once per day..

Yeah, that's a good one.

What I really wish is that Maven was available to have her ass kicked. Then my PC could get to the business of helping Mjoll clean up that cesspool of a city.

That would have been a fun starting option:

Bryjolf and Mjoll are arguing when you enter the city.
They both talk to you about what is going on and mention their views.

Brynjolf BEFORE letting you join the thieves has you discredit people like Mjoll and others in an attempt to make Maven look better.
Mjoll has you look for proof about Maven being the corrupt one, and you try and find evidence for that.

Of course Maven could not be a candidate for Jarl, and you could also shoot joining the thieves guild right out the window.

Still though having the option to run the nastier elements out of town would have been welcome.

My DB Argonian married Mjoll as well, but she's staying in Breezehome while he goes to 'work'. I was lucky with the wedding and Aerin, as Mjoll left for Whiterun along with Lydia, Uthgerd and Carlotta, who all showed up for the wedding, but somehow Aerin got stuck in Riften. Walks-In-Shade ran ahead to clear the way of bears and assorted scum, but when he got to Whiterun and Lydia was already there but Mjoll wasn't he headed back to Riften. So he was able to follow Aerin who was sprinting to catch up, and put an arrow in his back just on the other side of Fort Greenwall.

There were more people at this second wedding compared with the first, even though the other character had helped a lot more people. I wonder if my other character's will be able to fill the temple. Planning to take a screenshot for each wedding as well to see who shows up for each character.
