I'd have liked for them to have given some more depth to some of the NPCs and the marriage options. But really it's not something that I expect from an Elder Scrolls game, paticularly when the world is vast. But, I think they improved on it since Oblivion, I'm still laughing at the guards finding my wolfish grin unsettling.

^ It would have been nice, but it really wasn't necessary. I've always found it humorous that the Temple of Mara would be in Riften, of all places. What better way to show your love for someone, than to marry them in a town riddled with crime? Sign me up!

My favorite spouse in my playthroughs was Scouts-Many-Marshes (he's so sweet!), although it was pretty awesome to be an Orc, married to Ghorbash the Iron Hand, running around with Borgakh the Steel Heart. Orcs are the best. (IMHO).

Skyrim marriage is more of a mechanical thing; implemented as a feature mention in name only. This is even worse than follower AI which shoves you or them off into harm's way; at least they seem to care when they get hurt or healed. IMO.

OTOH. the game is filled with quest locations; unique, different, and independent missions and sites that offer something new to experience even after my own 730+ hrs of play.

Humorous Note: Just noticed yesterday that the Shrine of very one mean and evil Daedric lord is a simple stone's throne away from the Hall of the Vigilant. Hello? Bueller?

I played some FNV this weekend as well, and tried to get Mass Effect working, that's another story entirely. I'll probably play Witcher 2 or Deus Ex HR for a while until there's some DLC news.

While the followers could use some more depth, I'm glad they didn't go for Bioware schmaltz. I think I've had enough of that. In a medieval setting marriage would be pretty much as depicted. The soap opera is not necessary. I did notice one of the things in the game jam video was adopting a kid. That might be cute, I wanted to adopt one of the kids from the Riften orphanage, though most of the kids in Skyrim are little snots.

OMG, Happy what have you done! How could you?Image IPB

Image IPB When one's played Skrim as long as you have, I can understand why you need a break from it. How is KOA by the way? I was unsure on it. I've not had a lot of time to read reviews or do some digging on it.

I believe I just saw a mod for it in the Workshop!

On second thought, the dovahkiin would be a pretty bad parent. "Now honey, I have to go to Sovngarde and slay the world eater, you stay with Argis and be a good girl." Years of therapy.

Argis would be a pretty cool babysitter. Of course, I'm basing this on watching him and Mjoll fighting over weapons I dropped on the floor, because the weapon mounts didn't work in that house (in that playthrough)...

Hmm...maybe not such a good idea. I kept thinking I'd come home to find my pixel wife or housecarl dead on the floor. Nevermind.

Yeah can you just imagine take your kid to work day? or Parents day at school.

So little timmy what does your daddy do?
Then again you have to admit that "Dragon hunter" is one of the cooler jobs you can have.

Anyone interested in the Space Core mod since it says part 1? I wonder if Wheatly is going to fall out of the sky as well, cause that would be funny.

Pretty good engineering if you can make something survive re-entry.

The marriage feature is really disappointing. The options are very constricted and characters tend to be bland. It's just about income, companionship and having someone other than your housecarl in your place. Really, though, what would people expect? This is an Elder Scrolls game. Eh, might as well make the best of it.

Does anyone know how to make make certain NPCs marryable with use of the console? I found Niranye to be a suitable option for my PC (Argonian but still).

Hi, fellow Fateless One.   I haven't touched Skyrim in 2 weeks.  With 3 weeks to ME3, I might as well consider deleting it for now Image IPB

Backstabbing Dragons was fun while it lasted ...

This is what marriage has been about for most of history.  Well, and reproduction.

Yup, partnership and reproduction. But, then again, Nirn's history is not the same as Earth's.

LOL. Personal life, reruns through ME1 and 2, and ME3's impending release are all keeping me away from Tamriel for the time being.

But the legacy of the Dragonborn is not closed just yet. I still have to quit lollygaggin' and wrap up the main quest.

New events for me: a letter of inheritance from the estate of Farkas (death of my first major NPC friend), and delivered by my first undressed courier. Kinda wish I knew what killed the big guy, but nothing was being said at the Companion Hall. And it makes me wonder if the glitch in attire has anything to do with this assignment.

^Farkas probably died on the field. You will, sometimes, see members of the companions out in the wilderness fighting bears, trolls, and sometimes dragons. I was Floored a few weeks ago when my 7th level character was up north taking on some foresworn only to look over my shoulder and see Aela and Farkas engaging a pair of sabercats in a battle taking place behind me. I hadn't yet set foot in Whiterun, let alone joined the companions... but there they were, doing their own thing, so far away from home. It was awesome.

And that's just one of the reasons why the ES series is so good. The world goes on without you. I went to Riften yesterday and managed to witness the aftermath of a brazen daytime murder  in the merchant square. The Argonian jeweler got stabbed to death by someone. Guards were swarming the area with their weapons drawn.  Citizens, including the other 2 merchants, where standing over his body.    There was no quest or any story  to it. it just happened.... while I was gone. So cool.

I think these mods would be awesome. Especially the dragon mounts. And giant reaper-mud crabs.

One of my archers watched a couple of Companions pass by close under his sights last week near Riftin. Made me glad that I do not always shoot first. And depending on which Dragonborn is playing, sometimes I will Save, then stand upright and introduce myself to see if the strangers ahead are friendlies or not; hate those bounties.

But this is the first time I have seen such a letter, and only had heard of the disrobed couriers until now.

Also, just saw my first Giant die from 1H combat, and it almost turned my stomach as they do not seem to have proper skeletal systems. He trained me in some Blocking and Heavy Armor, and then when I killed him, he folded over bacwards like a cheap deck chair. So unexpected; so grotesque.

I want a mod that puts a shrine of Dibella (or better yet: Sanguine) in my home. Because that's what my characters all have in common: Love of sex/debauchery and that kind of fun stuff.

Well damn. I haven't even touched the main quests or the civil war on my Magessasin (level 50) and am now getting crashes to desktop with no error reports on most map travels and after every 15-30 mins of playing without map transitions as well. Prior to crashes I started getting blank (white) textures on various objects as well. As it is, the game is unplayable. I read about many such issues, but it seems the most common reason for such behaviour are bloated savegames exceeding ~16 MB. Well mine are only roughly 9 MB. I wonder what's causing this. The HD Texture Pack? Some other mods I tried recently (but they weren't that many and I tried uninstalling them all.. unless I failed to uninstall them properly). I'm trying reinstalling the game through Steam now, will see if that helps.

But I must say I'm quite frustrated now.

Edit: I've read some more and it seems the HD Texture Pack DLC might be the culprit. The requirements for it are listed at 4 GB RAM, and since I run WinXP 32bit, my system can only access about 3,25 GB.
I guess I'll try to disable it and see if this works. Still I'll be sad if this will prove to be the solution. I absolutely love the gorgeous, stunning Skyrim's graphics with this DLC and SSAO effects through an ENBDev injector. Contrary to some other opinions, for me its much better then any other texture mods I've come across.

I must say that of all the games I have bought, Skyrim is one of the best, right next to Dragon Age: Origins. I love DA:O for its immersive story and characters, but after having played more than 100 hours of Skyrim, DA:O's world feels SO very very small and restricted...I love exploring the lands of Skyrim and stumbling upon random dungeons and areas in general...It feels so 'real', you see. The only thing that's been bothering me is that my character is truly all alone all the time. I wish possible group members like Lydia could mount a horse like the Dragonborn does, to not fall behind while exploring. And of course, there's the lack of depth in the characters...I'm also disappointed at the lack of customization options in houses. Bethesda could at least have included a button or option to normally rotate objects to make customization in houses more enjoyable. For example: wanting to decorate the shelves in my house in Solitude is practically impossible due to the weird manner of moving objects once you've dropped them out of your inventory...You have to practically THROW them around to get them into the right position...I ended up putting all of my potions into a barrel after having spent about half an hour in trying to just put a potion on top of a table...So awkward.

On another note, I installed the Dungeons Sound pack from the Steam Workshop yesterday. Having noticed some of the sounds are ripped from Amnesia: The Dark Descent and having seen some of the videos of this game, I think I'll uninstall it. I got nothing against this game, but the sounds just make the dungeons creepier than they have to be. Skyrim is not a horror game afterall. Meh, it might also just be me who can't stand any form of horror or scary stuff...However, I will install the future installments of this sound project (there will be different packs for the cities, forests, etc if I have read correctly) as I think that more sounds will only make the world of Skyrim even more realistic.

As for quests, I have recently finished the mage quest in Winterhold. I must say I am impressed with both the characters and the storyline they put into this quest. Overall, I thought it was very enjoyable and now my character can finally have those nice Arch Mage Quarters for herself. (I always was jealous of Savos for having such nice living quarters, lol). Another quest is the Wolfskull Cave quest, which I'm currently working on and which has also been quite interesting thus far. Of one thing I'm certain: I'm not just yet finished with this beautiful game. :)
