I've been playing Skyrim again a bit, testing out 1.5 beta patch.

I've been testing Ria and Njada Stonearm from the Companions. Ria is boring, she's just Lydia in another skin, but Njada Stonearm is a surprisingly fun companion. She has a lot of acerbic comments and as the expert trainer in Block, she never goes down.

^ Hmm, that's an interesting thought. I never tried Njada out as a follower, because I assumed she'd be rude to my characters the whole time. Makes sense that she wouldn't go down easily, though.

I always enjoyed Eola's comments, "I'm not just another pretty face!" She was a bit squishy, though, if we got mobbed.

I think Skyrim has plenty of soul. I found the world to be very full of character.

I thought I'd never admit it, but I actually kinda like Eola now. So what if she's the head of a coven of cannibal serial killers? At least she has some personality - and does, in fact, have a pretty face, even with the white eye and face tattoo (which she wears quite well, actually).

(or maybe I just have strange taste in women - LOL)

Still feel like a real ass for killing Verulus, though - that's no way to go out for anyone, especially a priest. I also still hate that one meat salesman, and now I have this psychotic cannibal guy who appears randomly on the road and calls me "Champion of Namira."

Ah well, nothing's perfect - and at least Eola is a powerful companion. Too bad they didn't give her any voice files for when you give her directions - awkward.

^ Eola is one of my favorites, just behind the Orcs. I love her voice, and she's quite adequate as a follower. I'm glad you gave her a try, and even like her now! Hooray!

I told my husband that I thought Eola was pretty, and he said I was crazy, until he watched me play with her as a follower for a while. He eventually agreed that there's something about her that makes her quite pretty, even with the white eye and tattoo.

I hadn't noticed that Eola is missing voice files...but then, I didn't start giving followers orders until quite recently. Oops.

Yeah, poor Verulus. If you're ever trying to find a "blank" robe to enchant for your mage, his is a good one. Image IPB

Aye, she has missing voice files for just about every command except for when you dismiss her. I find that disappointing, as she does have a sexy voice - one that managed to make her opening lines in Taste of Death seem less "evil" and "repulsive" because of her seductive delivery of them. Crazy.

I seem to have a bit of a thing for Breton chicks in general. It's one of the reasons I now marry Muiri (oh the irony - my character is a proud Nord) and my favorite enemies in the game are the Forsworn. LOL.

Why did they take out spell creation?!?! :crying:

Actually, it probably has more to do with spell creation being broken and easily exploited (especially in Morrowind - Soul Trap glitch, anyone?). If they couldn't fix it, they might as well just take it out completely - I don't miss it.

...well, I dunno - I do sort of miss pumping strength into the thousands and one-hitting the Heart of Lorkhan (without Kagrenac's tools) just for teh lulz. Oh, and enchanting a permanent 1 point Slowfall item, then pumping Acrobatics into the hundreds and moon jumping across Vvardenfell - can jump all the way to the top of Red Mountain and back down again, jump from one canton to another in Vivec, one island to another, etc.

Fun, fun, fun. Almost makes me want to fire Morrowind up - Oblivion's spell making system, while still exploitable, sucked in comparison. Good riddance.

I know you guys probably all know this, in regard to the 1.5 patch, but...

I play on XBox, so I haven't seen any of this stuff in action...yet.

Wow, they're a little late in making Lydia marriagable, aren't they?

I might have popped the question to her on my first playthrough, but I've since taken more of a liking to Aela and Muiri (preferably Muiri). I'd also be interested in marrying Lynly Star-Sung, but sadly she's one of several NPCs who should be marriageable but aren't.

Not that I have time for any of that right now, anyway - cleaning out all of the sidequests in Eastmarch on my newest playthrough, and probably won't be done for several hours - then I'm headed to Riften. LOL.

Speaking of regions, what is everyone's favorite? Mine would have to be The Reach (even though I hated it at first) - I just like the setting (reminds me of the Scottish Highlands), history, and lore of that place. Always a pleasure when Sam Guevenne challenges me to a drinking contest, and magically find myself stranded in Markarth the next morning.

^ Yeah, it seems like something that should have been fixed a few patches ago, but whatevs. At least they're finally fixing it. I'd like to know when they're going to let me marry one of my boys in the Thieves Guild. A girl can hope, right? Image IPB

I started up another ME3 playthrough with no import (I'm obviously crazy), so I haven't spent much time on Skyrim as of late, but I do miss it. I'm hoping to get back to it probably next week, so I have some time before TW2 comes out.

My favorite area is probably Eastmarch or the Pale. The Reach is quite beautiful, but I am still not a huge fan of the Forsworn.

Eastmarch is probably my favorite, sans Windhelm itself, which is a bit too dreary a place for my tastes. Eastmarch is cool because the sheer number of different settings: (tundras, forests, snow-filled mountains and swamps. Eastmarch is also where the steam pools are. And those are awesome. Also there seems to be a larger number of draugr crypts in  Eastmarch, or at least it feels that way. Draugr crypts have recently eclypsed Dwemer ruins as my favorite dungeon setting in Skyrim.

A close second is  the Reach, in part  because that's where the foresworn camps, caves and ruins are.   I've grown to really enjoy  killing Foresworn. Also that river that snakes through the mountains in the Reach is really breathtaking from a high vantage point..

Why do people like Muiri? The girl is a nutcase and gives new meaning to "boundary issues." I'd be checking my tea around her, in case she decides the dovahkiin is spending too much time killing dragons and not enough attending to her copious emotional needs.

My favorite area is also Eastmarch, including Windhelm, which to me is the most realistic medieval city. I got enough of middle-class twee in Oblivion and don't need it in Skyrim.

Perhaps I just have a thing for loony girls - I'm the same guy who thinks Ingun Black-Briar and Eola are attractive, after all.

It also doesn't hurt that Muiri's probably the best-looking marriageable NPC next to Aela. LOL.

Call me crazy, but I also kinda dig Anska from High Gate Ruins. Too bad she's only a temporary follower.

Heh, ok.  I just have an allergy to clingy, needy people.  Add in homicidal tendencies and the creepy level is off the charts.   Hello Leliana.

To be fair, I can understand why Muiri wanted her ex killed - being seduced, used, and left in disgrace would make just about anyone want revenge. Killing Nilsine might be going a bit far - but I suppose I can understand that to a degree, too.

And hey, at least she doesn't like to poison animals and watch them die, or carve people up and eat them like a Thanksgiving turkey - that's always a plus. LOL.

(and yes, Leliana is a bit of a creep - I can't say I'd care to wake up one morning and find someone kneeling over me "admiring" my eyelashes)

I recently discovered you can use that Imperial commander from the "Rise in the east" quest as a companion after finishing the quest. I'll use her after sacrificing (and eating) Eola.

The poor girl is schizophrenic. Not sure whether the writers intended her to come off like that, though.

As much as I like Eola as a companion (one of the best IMHO), I don't think I'm gonna complete Taste of Death again on my current run - it just doesn't feel... right.

Besides, it's so much more fun and ironic to just go werewolf and massacre the coven.

And to what sacrifice are you refering? The one from Boethiah's Calling? I never finished that quest because I couldn't figure out who I should sacrifice.

Although, now that I think about it, I might sacrifice my Housecarl in Windhelm - that guy annoys me.

Aw, Calder.  :crying:

I've never done Eola's quest and never done Boethiah's.  There are just some things I can't do.
