Huh? That never happened in any of my playthroughs. In fact, Aela firmly believes that being a werewolf is a blessing. Farkas seems to be indifferent about his werewolfism. I don't know Vilkas's opinion about being a werewolf though, or at least I can't remember.

If you talk to Farkas or Vilkas about work after completing Glory of the Dead, they should talk to you about wanting to cure themselves of lycanthropy - if they don't give the quest to you immediately, then it should still come up sooner or later. Just keep talking to them and doing some grunt work for them until it does.

For those of you who think being a werewolf is useless, try this:

Force yourself to look at the sky at night once in a while. When you see a full moon, turn into beast form right away, no matter where you are or what you're doing. Once you're a wolf, force yourself to attack everyone on sight. The next morning, deal with the backlash of your transformation, which is either very big if you transformed in a town, or very small if you transformed in the forest or fields. You might kill NPCs that you actually like. When that happens, well, yeah, sucks, just deal with it. In the long run, it will greatly enhance your experience of roleplaying in Skyrim. It makes being a werewolf a bit more interesting.

Also, something less drastic but still fun: Avoid silver like the plague. Don't loot any silver weapons, silver ore, or silver ingots. You're a werewolf, so silver is bad for you. I find it strange that Skyrim doesn't give you an actual handicap to silver as a werewolf. It would make sense if being attacked by silver does extra damage. It would also make sense if carrying silver gives you a handicap. But alas, it doesn't, so instead I'll just pretend that it does.

With this, though, you fall into the problem of whether your werewolf SHOULD be affected by silver. Werewolve aren't real; there isn't a hardline fact saying they can't take silver. just like vamps and sunlight.

Skyrim does seem to acknowledge the lore that werewolfs are effected by silver, as the Silver Hands all wear silver weapons. Yet as a werewolf, you're not affected by it in any way.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, that it would be more fun it being a werewolf had more downsides. Being a werewolf is great on a lower level, but feels useless when you're a higher level character. Being a werewolf does not give you any disadvantages either, other than not being able to get rest bonusses. I think that being a vampire in Skyrim is much more interesting. My Imperial assassin character is a vampire and I love to play as him. Don't get me wrong, I also love my new character Mjullnir, who is a Nord and right now he's also a werewolf, but being a werewolf does not really add much to the gameplay in my opinion, it's just awesome to transform and rip people to shreds, but that's it.

I've yet to play as a vampire. I wish there were a way to become one that didn't involve getting infected. Almost like you can't really "decide" to be one, only by accident.

I can't play Skyrim anymore.

I'm 245 hours in on 360...massive lag and continuous freezing. It just froze 10 times in a row before I ragequit.

I'm so pissed. I don't have any of the patches because I don't have XBOX Live...people on budgets without internet get screwed.

If I would download patches somehow, did any on 360 even address this?

^Yes, the patches fix most of the really nasty, game-breaking bugs - but it's by no means perfect.

I can't play Skyrim anymore because I'm too busy modding DA:O and playing around with the toolset - that's an adventure of epic proportions in and of itself. LOL.

I'll probably pick up where I left off around the time Dawnguard is revealed - as I recall, me and Eola were terrorizing the countryside with lightning bolts and Dremora.

FYI, you don't need to pay for a Xbox Live subscription - just get the Xbox onto the Internet somewhoe and sign up for an account, and you can download the patches as well as any other DLC. You only need to pay to play online multiplayer, watch Netflix, etc.

You mean like a friendly faction of vampire?  That would have been interesting.  Reminds of Janus Hassildor from Oblivion.  I liked that guy.

Or even like...that guy in the DB in oblivion. Vincent? Something like that. Doesn't have to be a whole faction, just a few who're willing to share their...gift.

Yes. Skyrim runs buttery smooth on my Xbox360 since the latest few patches. Skyrim is still kinda buggy, but at least most of the game-breaking bugs are gone now.

Have the witch heads in your invy. Vilkes and Farkas will both ask.

I don't care for it. I don't need a crutch like  being a vamp or werewolf to be the badest MFer in the Valley. I prefer in most games to play as a default class or human. I need no add ons to prove my power, which IC I see as being darwn from my cause. Such help weakens the cause I find, partially why I rarely use magic of anysort.  My Dualist Warrior has yet to be stoped in any case.

Thanks for the tips guys and girls. It's much appreciated. A video game store...small privately owned with gamers running it...said they think they can download patches, plus they are going to update my firmware.

Damn you, Skyrim! If you weren't so big and beautiful and fun, I wouldn't even put in the effort. But. I. Need. :)

Playing a overpowered God character in Skyrim is not difficult and, quite frankly, it gets quite boring really fast.

Try roleplaying a regular average joe (with a few tricks up his sleeve) once, that will make Skyrim much more interesting. In the end, I base all my decisions on roleplaying and trying ot shape a realistic, or at the very least a believable character. Playing an overpowered God-like character is just lame.

This is how I shaped and play my vampire character:

Garrett, the Imperial Thief/Assassin:

History I made up for him:
Garrett is an Imperial man grown up as an orphan in Cyrodill. As a child he already learned the art of pickpocketing and thievery. As a young adult, Garret joined a criminal gang of bandits and thieves. However, one night, a terrible accident happened. A raid on a rival gang went horribly wrong and Garrett was captured by the rival gang. He was tortured for days until a bunch of soldiers from the Imperial Legion found him and freed him. Garrett was horribly scarred and his right eye was blinded. The soldiers told Garrett that if he wanted to escape this criminal life, he could go to Skyrim and enlist with the Imperial Legion. The Legion in Skyrim could use any help they get and it would be a great way for Garrett to pay off his depth to the Legion, who just saved his life.

How I play him in Skyrim:
Once in Skyrim, Garrett joined the Imperial Legion. He doesn't care much for the whole "Dovahkiin business" and he pretty much ignored the calling of the Grey Beards. After Garrett helped the Legion to retake Skyrim, he decided to pay the Grey Beards a visit (out of pure curiousity) and at the same time he's trying to make a living for himself.
Notl long after, Garrett was contacted by the Thieves Guild, who tempted Garrett to turn back to his roots of thievery. Garrett has heard a lot about the legendary Thieves Guild back in the old days in Cyrodill, so he thought it would be an honor to join them. After all, being a thief is what Garrett is truly good at.
When Garrett found the Thieves Guild in the Ratway of Riften, he was dissapointed. This pathetic bunch was nothing like the legendary Thieves Guild he heard so much about. However, Garett decided to help rebuilding the Thieves Guild back to its former glory.
During his work for the Thieves Guild, Garrett had a confrontation with vampires. The vampires infected him, but he did not realize that. After a while, Garrett became a vampire himself, which changed him completely.
Being a vampire, Garrett quickly discovered that he became even better as being a stealthy thief. But his vampirism also made him more agressive and more hungry for power and glory. He became less human and less moral by the day. Being a simple thief no longer satisfied Garrett. He wanted more. And he found more, in the Dark Brotherhood...

I like my friends RP.

He just plays a wandering Bosmer tinkerer who goes and does odd jobs, but nothing REALLY dangerous. He avoids the main quest, civil war, etc and just goes about mining, hunting, smithing etc.

He does keep his combat skills up though just so he does not paint himself into a corner.

Pens 'n Paper roleplaying ever gets old if your roleplaying group is fun and your game master is good at writing stories.

I've been PnP RPing for 5 years now and it still isn't boring. But that's because my group is awesome and my game master is a really talented story writer.

Over the past 5 years we've played several PnP RPGs. We started with World of Darkness, which was awesome. Then we played a little Dungeons and Dragons, but that got very boring very quickly (I don't like the mechanics of DnD, at all). After that we started playing some Rogue Trader (Warhammer 40k), which was super fun. When the latest Warhammer 40k roleplaying game came out (Deathwatch), we started playing that. Right now we're still playing Deathwatch and it's still super fun. Playing an overpowered space marine fighting against hordes of Tyranid and Chaos is more fun than you think.

This is me right now.  I ran on up to level 38 without even visiting the Greybeards.  All I've been doing is wandering about, fighting all comers, exploring and dungeon diving for loot, and general playing the self concerned goon with gold as his primary motivator, who sees what trouble he can get into.  Absolutely no sense of purpose, yet incredibly fun.  Making jewelry, tanning, smithing weapons and armor based on what you've scrounged, enchanting items, cooking, chopping wood, hunting, mining, transmuting ore, taking the odd job, and looting were just a few of the ways this guy makes gold.  It's incredible what you can come up with in game to make a living and get rich.

Had to DL a modded companion she elf though, who is primarily a silent follower, because I was really getting tired of hearing Lydia's same lines over and over...not nearly as bad as Mjoll in my first playthrough...but I'm less tolerant of it now having been in the game for so long.

One of my favorite mods was "More NPCs" because you couldn't walk a hundred meters in the wild without fighting ne'er do wells, or running into an Imperial/Stormcloak patrol doing something, and you deciding whether to help or ignore.  Picked up alot of loot just meandering about.  Made the adventurer's life a fun one; but sadly the mod has disappeared.

But yeah, a wandering adventurer is incredibly fun.

Nah I ment Text Rpging like Gaia though less sucky places.

I just got burned out on it. I still form "mindsets" and what not, but not as much detail. I tried Rpging again here recently but all the vets are gone and the current kids I'm just like.........my god......."Hey guys I'll see you tomorrow haha great work!" Never returns again. I tried teaching it to rebuild some of that but meh.

So just burned out on it. And its not as I was lazy of it. I used to make bios longer than yours, and I would be able to turn something as simple as walking into a bar into a 2 para sentance. Been awhile though and given some drama with pretty much anything online this saying comes to mind.

Famililarity breeds contempt.

^"More NPCs" (well, at least the one I was talking about) is just plain gone.  While I was away, it just disappeared from my game and from the Steam Workshop.  It's not on Nexus either.
My companion mod is "Miravel Tel'Nar - The Rose of Valenwood."  That one is in the Workshop and on the Nexus:

http://skyrim.nexusm...le.php?id=10201

She's a bit overpowered with the bow, and there's still a slight bug with her dual weilding, but she's overall a good companion.  She's invulnerable, but does go down if her health bar is exhausted, like Mjoll.
