Damn I keep forgetting Marked for Death.

That is such a useful attack and it makes enemies so easy.

^ That is my all time favorite shout. It's nice that it stacks. If you can get that in a couple of times on harder enemies, you can basically flip them off, and they'll die. Image IPB

I've came up with a new character to roleplay. He is, again, an assassin though ( I can't help it, I'm just addicted to the stealthy gameplay and the Nightingale armor). But this time he's quite different personality wise and should provide for some interesting roleplaying.

My new character is names Silas. This is what he's all about:

Silas is an Imperial young man who escaped from an mental insane asylum. Silas was abandoned by his parents as a baby. Silas was raised in an orphanage. In the orphanage he never ever spoke to any of the other children. Instead, he kept mumbling nonsense about stuff like: "my father is in the void, he needs me" and "my mother is calling for me, she needs me, my brothers need me".

When Silas turned 16 he was released from the orphanage and offered a job at the local blacksmith. Merely 2 weeks later, Silas was caught murdering his blacksmith employer. Before he was thrown in jail, they asked him why he murdered his employer. Silas answered: "My father made me do it. He was calling for me, for blood, he wanted to see blood. I pleased him. I made him happy."
After that, Silas was considered a dangerous psychopath and was thrown into an mental insane asylum.

10 years later, Silas finally managed to escape from the asylum. He ran away and searched specifically for Nord people. Every time Silas walked into a Nord, he asked him: "Which way to Skyrim? I need to go to Skyrim. How do I get in Skyrim?"
Some curious Nord asked Silas if he was planning to join the Imperial Legion in Skyrim, as he was an Imperial himself. Silas always answered: "No, not the Imperial Legion, my mother. I need to find my mother. In Skyrim. She has something to say to me. Father showed me. In the void. A young boy. In Windhelm."

When Silas finally crosses the border of Skyrim, he's nothing more but a skinny dirty man in bad shape. His hair is incredibly long and he clearly hasn't shaved himself in a while. Then he ran into a group of Imperial Legion soldiers, who captured him and brought him to Helgen. Silas was angry, furious. He needed to go to Windhelm, that's what father said, but now these damn Legion bastards captured him! This is not how he planned it, not at all!

But then a dragon came and Silas managed to escape his death yet again. Now he's on his way to Windhelm to find a guy named Aventus Arentino. He saw this young man in his dreams and Silas was sure that this was a sign from his beloved father...

What do you guys think of my new character? Sound interesting? Or do you think he's boring?

The idea is that Silas starts as an insane psychopathic serial killer, not a proffesional assassin AT ALL. He's just crazy and confused because of the voices in his head and the visions that he has about "father" and "mother". But once he figures out he's actually the Listener of the Dark Brotherhood, he'll calm down and eventually become more professional.

After completing the Dark Brotherhood questline, Silas will be a professional assassin. Still completely amoral though. He does not mind dealing with daedric princes, he collects daedric artifacts in his spare time, finishes bounty and DB contracts for a living and on occasion he'll do some jobs for the Thieves Guild because he, why the hell not?

Silas is far from greedy though. All he cares about is making Sithis proud.

Oh, hell yes...

Need alot of leather, leather strips, and metal buckles (crafted from steel ingots).  But to me, it's worth it.

I think they look cool and you get a massive carry weight bonus.  Will be making black leather soon.  You have to make your own black leather dye with frostbite venom (which I've literally collected thousands of, but can only lay my hands on about 7 right now without cave diving).

Anyway, I thought it was a cool mod.

If I could I would mod the sound for Dawnbreaker's blast to be "WHAT THE FU- BOOM"

Does anyone wonder if their Dragonborn really is going to do something more in the future? Tsun, Odahviing, and others all mention that you are going to do something more.

My main probably has the goal of kicking the Thalmor in the balls and creating a truly free Skyrim.
My Orc probably wants to create a new kingdom for the Orcs, after helping Ulfric get Skyrim back.
My Altmer probably wants to make the Mages College bigger and really help Nords recall the clever craft as Tsun put it.
My Nord probably would not rest until he was king of Skyrim, and has killed every dragon.

Brian "Dragonender" Blessed THE HAMMY.
Know if only I can get which Brian Blessed to make him look like....

I sometimes forget Marked for Death stacks. :P Usually I'll shout and you'll see the purple effects, but unless you use an Amulet of Talos my opponents get Incinerated quickly.

Although I ran into a vampire recently who the first couple of times, along with a few lower subjects of his, beat me to a pulp twice.

Things got so bad I had to duel-Conjure.

One simpel question: Are all vampires in TES always evil and corrupted? Or are there also known cases of "good" vampires or at least not completely evil?

There is at least one good Vampire. Count Janus Hassildor, count of Skingrad in Oblivion. But he seems a very far and few exception. Nobel however.

Well Janus Hassildor in Oblivion stands out really.

Mostly though if you become a vampire its because you want to be one.
You have three days to cure yourself of it, and hey all it takes is praying at a shrine, or chugging a cheap potion.

Or it could be that someone did not have three days to cure themselves and simply became evil to survive it seems.
But  then again in Morrowind there are three vampire clans you can possibly join or wipe out who are evil.

But for the most part 99% of vampires are bad in TES.
Though Janus is a pretty cool guy and so is his wife.

In skyrim, I can only really think of 1 vampire who isn't flat out evil/hostile.

Hert. She runs a mill north of Falkreath. She's the standard Mill-runner. Chop wood for her and she'll pay you. After that, you can sleep in her cottage and she won't even mind if you loot her place.

of course, if you attack her, she'll use all of her usual vampiric powers to destroy you, but then, just about every mage NPC in Skyrim will go nuclear on you if you attack them.

Also, there is a section where there is a Vampire vs Mage war ongoing when the Dragonborn arrives; no real good side there, but one may choose to help the lesser evil.

Really? Neither Hert or Hern use Vampiric Drain when I kill them (and yes, I kill them both - loose ends and all that), and only Hern actually looks like a vampire. I've often wondered if Hert is actually a vampire, or merely a thrall.

Also, in the small shed across the bridge near the mill, there are human remains inside - these two are obviously killing and eating people, so I wouldn't say they're not or even less evil.

The only vampire in the game who truly isn't evil or hostile is Sybille Stentor, Jarl Elisif's court wizard. It's implied she limits her feeding to criminals in the Castle Dour dungeon, and even sends you to wipe out a den of evil vampires as a misc quest.

Actully she only acts nice York. She feeds on passing travelers with her husband that stay the night. So not nice. Though I found it odd whenI killed them both neither had vampire dust. Oh well.

Also lesser of Evils? Pft I killed both sides lulz.

And Sybille Stentor is a vampire? Totally did not know that, now things make sense.

Isn't that one of the mage college quests, where you retrieve the books from one of the forts? I always let those vampires in cages loose. They make me giggle when they say, "Out of the way, meat!"

This is meta gaming. Yes, as Luc, the person who's playing the game, I want to be a vampire. However,  my in-game character doesn't want to be a vampire.

One can easily roleplay that your PC is unaware that he is infected with vampirism, until after 3 days when he wakes up as a vampire and it's already too late.

That's what YOU as the player know. Your character does not have to know this.

Can you explain this? I don't think I understand what you mean with "become evil to survive".

@Luc:

Vampires become the scum we see in Skyrim because people attack them on sight.
They have to live apart from society and hence take up banditry.

Well most folks don't take kindly to blood suckers. So stealing, killing, finding more of your own. Thats pretty typical, or opening an inn and sucking on the visitors.

Only two Vampires in the TES world (that we know of at least) have been good and both are not open with that. Both seem to be able adminstrators, and only the highest in power know what they are, and both pretty much only feed on the damned, or in the case of the count I think somehow they just collect blood for him, not 100% sure but think its animal blood.

Both of those had skills or wealth and kept silent on what they were minus to those who needed to know and left the general populance in ignorance. A typical person that wants to live a typical life. Well thats like a person with boils and leprocy wanting a back rub. I mean who would feel comfortable living next to something that actively drinks your blood and wants to eat you?

So yeah either keep to shadows and hide the fact, or be a murdering crazy man.

When they say that, I cut them down:whistle:

When they keep their mouth shut and go after the mages in the next room, I'm a lot more understanding of their condition :wizard:

Thanks for all the info about vampires, my fellow Skyrim players.

One more question:

When you start the game as a Breton, then, at the beginning of the game, before your execution Harvard says: "Are you from Daggerfall Breton? Fleeing from some court intrigue or something?"

What does he mean with that? What "court intrigue" could he possible mean? Does this have something to do with the history or culture of the Bretons? Can someone shed some light into this?

I think its just cultural the region is made up of a number of kingdoms and they have no real national identity. In fact the Empire is all keeping it from turning into a five way blood bath. So for now its like a game of spy vs spy.

Ah. And what does "court intrigue" exactly mean in this context? I'm not all familiar with the term.
