Also: 10 races, right? Holy crap that's a lot. By furries I mean I don't want animal people. But it seems likely.

Unlikely. The devs don't get that personal when it came to world events. It's assumed that events happened, you likely caused it, and the world has changed.

Furries? Like a Kajiit?
I made peace with a lot of Oblivon's faults, but the Khajiit and Argonians in Oblivion suffered from being people in animal skins. In other words, furries and scalies. Not that there's nothing wrong with animal people, but they didn't have that weird sense of "other" like in Morrowind too much. Like the Khajiit greeting, "walk on warm sands." For example, Dar-Ma talked like a teenage girl in her diary, or the way she spoke about mutton on Chorrol. It's so familiar it's uncharacteristic.

Uh just a reminder,
1. Imperial
2. Redguard
3. High Elf
4. Wood Elf
5. Night Elf
6. Nord
7. Breton
8. Khajit
9. Orc
10. Argonian
Those were the 10 playable races from Oblivion and Morrowind. I don't think we're getting anything new.

Few... oblivion is the last game i would like to play all over again since it's one of the biggest games ever... The only thing i'm very curious about is which races will be in the game... i gues dwarves will be there since there are 10 races, other than that i don't have a cluemonkeycamoran wrote...

I hope Skyrim includes background conversations about mudcrabs and news from the other provinces. It wouldn't be the same without them. Or passing comments that whatever random tat I'm wearing suits me well.

NvVanity already listed them. No dwarves...ever.
And it's Dark Elf for no. 5, not Night Elf.

Dunmer. They get tetchy if you call them "dark elf".monkeycamoran wrote...

Wonder if they'll get the same voice actors back again? I know some people didn't like them, but my only gripe is that there were far too few in Oblivion (though I think it was the technical limitations of there simply not being enough room for fully voiced dialogue; though one could answer "so don't use fully voiced dialogue, then", but I digress). I particularly liked Linda Kenyon (dunmer woman) and Ralph Cosham (absent-minded Bretons) though all were pretty good. I did think that Sean Bean made Martin sound almost suicidal, though.

Well, we have Max Von Sydow. I liked his performance in the teaser.
I just hope that not all Nord and Orc women in Skyrim won't be voiced solely by Wonder Woman again.

I hated it!
I will simply pass on this Game because of the awful experience I had with Oblivion.
Morrowind was Great and I'll simply remember what a good time I had with that.

As long as the females continue to have breasts they'll remain my most hated race.

Of all the TES games I have played, Oblivion was by far the most boring. The scaling enemies meant you did not feel your character improve, and the loot you collected from ordinary highwaymen became ridiculous. Furthermore, the limited use of voice actors (five! as I recall) meant than all NPC's was utterly uninteresting and stereotype.
More than looking at the former TES games, I hope Bethesda consider the Fallout games. Suddenly, story and interaction meant something in a Bethesda game. (I know New Vegas is developed by Obsidian, it's still a Bethesda game.) There was hillarious situations, brutality, sexual undertones and all the other things that has always lacked in the TES games.
Besides that, I am certain they will manage to create gameplay that is good. The only time I felt that they had failed in that department was in Oblivion. Morrowind was very good, except that your character ended up being ridiculously overpowered. But, IMO, the answer to that is not scaling enemies, but rather to look further back, to Daggerfall, where it was virtually impossible to level past 26 -27, which meant that the most powerful enemies remained a serious challenge even at the end.
All in all, I am curious. Bethesda has always delievered in freedom, but have sometimes failed in the actual roleplay department, and almost always in creating memorable NPC's. The antithesis of Bioware, so to speak. They should make a game together, THAT would have the possibility to be the ultimate in awesomeness.

There were 11 regular voice actors that I can identify (admittedly not much of an improvement) not including the various daedric gods, Shivering Isles characters & races and the unique characters, so the total tally was 20 or so.TMZuk wrote...

But both in terms of gameplay and modding I'd have preferred a more text-driven dialogue system: easier to mod and it wouldn't have necessitated the recycling of dialogue amongst so many characters.

I'm in shock!
Seriously, that was interesting stuff, and I must sayd that Todd Howard impressed me several times by hitting the head on the nail.
The difference between western rpgs and jrpgs and how overly fantastic stuff makes it impossible to suspend disbelief. How character interaction is the part of crpg's that really has room for improvement and development, rather than visual presentation. How there's no limit to what you can actually include in an rpg, but anytime you exclude something it really detracts from the experience. All these things was things that had me nodding in agreement.
And he referred to Darklands as an inspiration source.
Cool stuff! Thanks for the link.
