I have to change some things I've said in this thread.

I will not officially decide on a race until my eyes and fingers are on the character creation screen. Leaning Nord, but I'm going to check all the races out.
My name is also a question mark...still pondering.

Also, I believe that my first playthrough will approach 500 hours :)

Do what I do and have 3 simultaneous playthroughs going at once.

200 endings seems like hyperbole. I'm taking a wait and see approach on that one.

From what I'm thinking maybe its like "parts" to an ending rather than a whole ending myself.

I'm sceptical even of this. Since when did TES have anything other than 1 specific ending? Let alone 200 (genuine question, i'm wondering if it was in daggerfall or arena

I'm kind of disappointed that they merged the cuirass and greaves together. I miss Morrowind/Daggerfall's armor system. That won't be a major problem, though.

Same i loved finding the individual armor pieces in morrowind. You slowly but steadily improved your armour piece by piece until all of a sudden.... you find a dead ordinator and loot all of his ebony armour :D

I think its one of the things there taking from fallout, but daggerfall had more then 1 ending, in morrowind and oblivion theres a book called warp in the west (i think) that explains how all endings happened.

the author of the article wasn't talking about the ending of the game, rather the ending of the main quest.

so, if there is some sort of FO3-style slideshow or cut scene that plays after you complete the main quest, assuming five different components of this slideshow with three different possible outcomes (completed, failed, never attempted, for example), then you would have 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 3^5 = 243 different variations on this slideshow.

Personally I think the guy who wrote the article got confused because in another interview Todd said something like FO3 had 200 different endings, but who knows until the devs confirm or deny this info.

As for Daggerfall, the Warp in the West and fidelity to the canon, I personally would enjoy the game a lot more if my actions and choices during the game have some impact on the world, even if it is totally different from whatever the devs of The Elder Scrolls 6 decide was the "canon ending" of TES 5.

the PC choices having impact on the world trumps fidelity to canon any day of the week IMO

I agree, sadly choices in Oblivion (and Morrowind for that matter) seemed to lack any impact on the world around them, aside from aesthetical changes that had no further purpose in the game

Pretty much as the above went, things Change. Look at Mario, in the Start we hand fireballs and jumping on heads, then we get wing caps, Metal caps, etc. Then you get a water jetpack, and so on. Elder Scrolls is changing up the pace a bit it seems. Reguardless whish November wasn't so far off :P.

As essentially the kings of open world free to do as wish style games, I want more than anything for them to take over and produce an Elite title, open-universe free to do as wish title just like the original however I know this won't happen as it may even be beyond their abilities. :D

You know you have too much Elder Scrolls on the mind, when you read that as "Redguardless".

 ^ haha brilliant

A demo is pretty difficult with the scope of Skyrim. As long as new footage appears showing a variety of options and carries on gives a feel of the game world I will be more then happy.

I would love to simply have a character creator to fiddle around with.  I'm sure I'll spend hours making my first look "just right".

Coming back to race differences:
Will there be more distinct appearances for races now? Like you could tell between an imperial or breton.

Also, how much will race affect the combat? I sure hope it's just slightly different animations like in Morrowind.

Both have been confirmed!

Each race will look different and there has reportedly been a lot of effort to make each race distinctive and unique.

As far as combat goes, I heard them saying that each will have their own certain style to go along with their natural greater powers. To what scale remains to be seen, but its nice to know there will be variation between them all. It'll make it feel so much more organic. I'm curious how Redguards will fight

I wish they hadn't done that. I mean it's an RPG and I want to choose my character's preferred fighting style and personality. Well it's better than oblivion where combat didn't feel that precise.
Anyway, I sure hope dark elves, argonians or any race for that matter, won't fight like skooma addicts.

Lol. Skooma addiction!!

Yeah I know what you mean, but I think Howard said the fighting style is just the animations on some of the things. Everything else is stats and perks

Great! So if I wanted a high elf to fight like a barbarian I could make one.
Moving on...
Are there any addictions in this game like Fallout?

You should be able to make Skooma with a high alchemy skill and a delicate recipe :wizard:

Pft Mages, Nothing stands before my sword, my enchanted sword, so hah not even damn wisps stand against me. Which makes me think as a pure fighter/stealth type, how would you get pasts magic only foes like Ghosts and Wisps? Enchanted items, or can you basically just level what you want?

It's not like you can't make any character with 100% reflect magic. Those enemies kill themselves.

Most Battlemages use enchanted weapons. One of my favorites I enchanted personally in Oblivion was an elven longsword with 35% damage health I named Sovereign
