^ Thanks! Image IPB I wish I could redo some of their war paint, but alas, it's too late for that.

I dunno. I guess I figure that if I'm going to be looking at them for a long time, I'd like them to be appealing to me. I don't bother with helmets, usually (unless it's Dragonscale or Daedric), so I see their faces quite a bit.

This really makes me wonder, why didn't anyone working on Skyrim think of a means for players to change hairstyle, makeup, facepaint on a charactor in-game?

Dragon Age 2 has the magical Mirror of Transformation but that of course enables the player to change the entire face. What I am thinking of is in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning where when a player has a home, there will be a mirror that allows the player to repeatedly re-customise hairstyle/color, jewelry (earrings, piercings) and facial tattoos (assuming that it's non permanent) without changing the face itself.

Wonder if there is a player mod out there that allows that for Skyrim ...

^ there probably is, but I'm playing on XBox, so that leaves me out of the equation. *sniffle*

I have some custom textures installed and the game is very playable this way (and beautiful with ENB injector), but still, after several transitions it may eventually slow to a crawl and/or be stuck at loading.

I have a 1 GB GTX 560 and 4 GB RAM, which theoretically should be enough, but I run Windows XP, which limits accesible memory... and that is clearly not enough for the most demanding textures.

How is it possible your game is very playable with ENB while it crashes with the HD texture pack? With ENB you mean the lighting mod, right? Because I can play with the HD texture DLC and toss in all the HD textures I want, but as soon as I try an ENB lighting mod, my game slows to a crawl. I tried cinematic lighting, and It took almost ten minutes for the game to load, and then the framerate was so low the game was stuttering. I couldn't even normally look around me.

Real shame, because I have seen ENB mods that look very beautiful. I suppose I will have to make due with Realistic Lighting instead, with high quality textures.

Yeah, I do use Cinematic Lighting at 1920 x 1200 with SSAO, AA at 8x and AF at 16x. And it's quite playable. Maybe not buttery smooth, but enough for me. And the game simply looks gorgeous this way. My guess would be that maybe you have more graphics RAM and/or more RAM running Windows 7/Vista to manage all those texture packs?
While maybe your graphics card is a bit slower?

Haha, I have a lot of RAM, yeah: 8 GB, with Windows 7 (64 bits). But my graphics card can't be bad either: an NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M, with 2 GB memory.
Odd, I don't know all that much about it, but I think my system is better than yours. And yet ENB makes my game completely unplayable. xD

If you're on PC you don't need a mod. You can simply use the console to go back to the race menu and tweak your character. Type showracemenu when you are in third person view, and there you go.:)

Yeah, very frustrating that a lot of these games featuring character creators don't give you an opportunity to change the character's looks after punching the "done" button - even now my Skyrim character's cheekbones are too high, yet I've simply come too far to start over now and have to redo all of that stuff all over again (the thought sickens me, really).

Still, every time I see my character's face I get annoyed by those blasted cheekbones.

Well, then it's all clear now. You do have moar VRAM, RAM, and a 64bit system, so that's why textures cause no issues. But GT 555M is a laptop card. And mobile graphic cards remain inferior to their desktop counterparts, even when they have somewhat similar model numbers. Laptops are still inferior as gaming rigs... even if some marketing folks may claim otherwise.

Oh, okay. Still, my laptop can run all new games on the highest settings with ease, so to me it's still surprising one mod messes things up so badly. But that is probably my lack of knowledge then. :? Thank you anyway.:)

Dafuq is that? A mod? I play on Xbox360, so no mods for me. I'm not very keen on mods anyway (yes I know, crazy). I like playing my games vanilla. I don't know why but it just feels better.

Go for heavy plate then. In my opinion that's the best looking heavy armor in the game. Or Ebony armor, but only on Nords.

Okay...I think my little Breton PC has issues.

Just for fun I made her a heavy armor wearing, 2handed axe user (all to get Wuthraad later on).
For some reason she keeps headbutting people to death.

I just cant stop laughing at someone almost a full head shorter than ANYONE else in Skyrim, violently headbutting people to death. MOCK ME WILL YOU???? Violent headbangning death ensues.

Sure she may seem like a nice person but all that head butting is probably making her just a bit...unhinged.
Dont get me wrong its very fun to play, but I really wonder about someone who prefers head butting most of their foes to death.

Wont be surprised if she does it to a dragon one of these days.

And apparently she wears a steel horned helm. Yeah...that's gonna leave a mark.

BTW, nothing quite like the smell of a pile of fresh dead Draugr in the morning. :P

EDIT: I'm a little disappointed though.  My guy never headbutts anyone...but I did just craft a set of scaled bracer combat fists.  Brawls don't last near as long and fighting seems to have become a bit of a pastime for my Nord.  But no headbutting.  What the hell?

That has to be one of the single most enjoyable fights in the game.
Drauger popping up with nothing but you and Farkas kicking ass.

I played Shoot to Thrill when it was going and had an epic time.

Yeah, a mod. Visual only though, stats stay the same. Of course Weapon and Armor fixes are vital as well, so that it can be properly double-improved by smithing with relevant perk (Steel for leather?), like most equipment can.

If I'm not mistaken, the head-butting finisher is Warhammer specific.  I've never had  it activate when using a Battleaxe, Greatsword or Fists.

^Ah...that would explain it. I think about using a warhammer much more so than actually using one.

I might have to get my new Breton headbutting. That sounds hilarious! She's only level 5 at the moment, so it's early enough to switch...or maybe I'll use my other Breton. I have to see it at least once. Image IPB

I bet it's funny with a Dunmer as well. I didn't realize how short they were, until I made one for myself. I mean, I noticed that Irileth was short, but didn't put 2 and 2 together. Derp.

LOL. I still have never really tried using two-handed weapons in Skyrim - they just feel too foreign to me, along with dual-wielding. I prefer the trusty ol' sword and board in just about all RPGs I play.

^ You should visit Liar's Retreat, and pick up The Longhammer. Or, if you already have it, try it out! It's an Orcish warhammer that swings 30% faster than a regular warhammer (faster than a greatsword, too). It's a nice way to ease into the big guns, so to speak.

Also another thing I noticed: Using 2-h weapons in 1st person view is a horrifically awful thing to do. For one, you really do feel the slowness, and second, hitting your opponent just looks wrong, often times it doesn't look like you're connecting on your opponent at all.

I usually switch to 3rd person when I unsheath my 2-h weapon. the animations look a lot better.

The 2H animations are worth the try, though some weapons look far better than others.
