Yeah, I don't ever use first person with 2h weapons...really, I don't use first person much at all, unless I'm trying to see what's on a table, shelf, or whatever (or when talking to someone). If I run or attack in first person, I start getting some wierd kind of motion sickness feeling.

LOL. I still have never really tried using two-handed weapons in Skyrim - they just feel too foreign to me, along with dual-wielding. I prefer the trusty ol' sword and board in just about all RPGs I play.
Yeah, same here. While two-handed is certainly more fun than a human should be allowed to have, shield bashing and shield charge are probably my favorite skills in the game, not to mention the sheer catharsis of bowling over a group of baddies and sending them flying. There's really something to be said in being able to interupt just about any attack and watching your enemies exhaust themselves at minimal cost to you. I really wish there were more variety of shields though, or that at least the Blades shield had higher stats.
Having said that, man, dual wielding axes (with a couple of cool enchantmens like fire and health absorption or paralyze and soul trap) as a heavy non-rogueish character, with maxed out one-handed (100 with 5/5 in Armsman)...well, it's just devastating if you can time power swings through enemy's attempts to block. The dual wielding power attack is like four moves and will kill just about any garden variety enemy with each use. Give it a try some time in low threat environments. I think once you get the hang of it, you'll be a convert like me.

Hooking a mook's head with your axe head then twisting it to break their neck.
Ouch.

My sister is however trying to make a Thor in Skyrim after having gone to see the Avengers yesterday. Personally I would make a Hawkeye expy first.

I do like the visual of trying to create a Thor character, but I probably wouldn't do it myself. Maybe a Thorina. Heh.

Hmm, a Thor clone would make for an interesting character - a large warhammer (Steel, I guess?) with shock enchantments, maybe throw in some shock spells and Storm Call for good measure.
Might try that out sometime.

Big man in a suit of armor - take that away, and what are you?
(oh, the irony of that quote when I say it)

Two handed weapons are really good in Skyrim. I find them the best melee fighting style (maybe except Assasin's Blade to the back). A bit slow, sure, but you can literally feel the force of the blows. And weaker enemies will be devastated by two-handed swings, particularly with a strong warhammer. Power attacks will knock them on their knees, unable to respond.
It's also a good defensive style, as you can block and bash with a twohander just fine. It's only slightly worse then a shield for that (and actually the bash damage is higher I believe).
Early on, I'd recommend getting the Elemental Fury shout ASAP and using an unenchanted weapon. This way the slow swing speed will be much less of an issue. In time I mostly stopped using it though. It doesn't help much with power attacks... and all my two-handed orc ever did was power attacking. The charge power attack is especially effective with a guaranteed critical, that's 4x base damage, if I'm not mistaken. Of course aiming it is a bit tricky at first, but you should learn it rather quickly.
Well, and watch out for archers and particularly mages. You'll want to get rid of them ASAP... and also prioritize magic resistance or you'll be toast in no-time.

I didn't realize how useful a conjured familiar can be at low levels. I used mine in Bleak Falls Barrow (started at level 3 or 4, I think), and that pup distracted Draugr like no other. I usually bypass them, and go right for the atronach, but I see how it can be nice for a while.

Late game I only use Throw Voice, Marked for Death, UF, and Aura Whisper.
The others just are are not powerful enough.

You know what's a useful shout, well as far as non-combat shouts go? Clear Skies. I can't tell you how annoyed I get with the weather up north sometimes, and completely forget that I can make it all go away.

Bethesda lied. I've never seen any dragon pick anything or anyone up like in that marketing video they showed over and over again.
I actually saw it last night for the first time. Well either that or elk can fly, I was happily walking along when one fell from the sky, I looked up and there was a dragon circling above me. I suppose its more like I saw the aftermath of a dragon picking something up.

He gave my Dunmer a whole squadron of dead Draugr about a week ago. He must really like her.

For all their bluster, though, a mammoth can stomp a dragon into paste - never mess with mammoths.
