Why don't you guys just use a carriage to go to another starting area?

That's boring.  The point of a Bethesda game is to get out and explore, and getting yourself into deep poo is half the fun.

Yeah, I'm definitely a deep poo sort.

I guess, but I rather do that when I'm at a higher level. Most of my characters take a carriage to Riften at lvl 2. Join the Thieves Guild, get rich and get skilled at sneaking. After getting Sneak at 50 I'll go to Windhelm (by foot) to help Aventus Arentino. After that, I'll join the Dark Brotherhood to further train my steath and assassination techniques. Sometimes however I'll take a carriage to Winterhold to join the College. Then I'll train my Illusion magic to lvl 75 to get the Invisibility spell. After that I'll often still join the Brothethood if I haven't already. Some of my characters are vampires, some are werewolfs, some use magic, some use alchemy, but one thing they all have in common is that in the end they'll all end up in the Dark Brotherhood.

You can actually join the Morag Tong in Skyrim?

I was under the impression that the Morag Tong was (nearly) extinct during the era of Skyrim. I haven't heard ANYTHING about them in ANY of my Skyrim playthroughs so far. The only info I have about the Morag Tong comes from Morrowind, Oblivion and UESP.

No I joined them in Morrowind.
They are not any better than their DB cousins.

Just more formal about the whole thing.

Yeah I know what they're like in Morrowind. They're less religious and less zelous than the Dark Brotherhood. In my opinion they're just a bunch of ******. The Dark Brotherhood is better and cooler, though I must say that the Brotherhood in Skyrim is quite dissapointing. Especially Astrid, she never was a true Dark Sister in my eyes.

They are just scum who worship an evil spirit type thing.

Then again assassinations are never a nice thing. no matter how you spin it.
I really do feel annoyed reading some stuff that they had ideas for but never really did.

Like how Vivec was written to be this crazy awesome warrior-poet, but in game he is kind of lame.

But mostly I am bummed that my Neravarine decided to dick off and leave Morrowind to suffer.

So are the Morag Tong. They also are scum who worship an evil spirit, so yeah, go figure. xD

Err, I thought the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim not being the "true" Dark Brotherhood was the entire point? There was only a single cell left in all of Tamriel and there wasn't even a Listener (or the Night Mother, for that matter) until Cicero and the Dragonborn come along.

Not to mention the part where, y'know, Astrid betrays the DB to the Empire and gets the sanctuary destroyed and just about everyone killed (herself included).

Yeah, I'd say she's anything but a true Dark Sister, and she and her crew are nothing but pretenders up until your arrival.

I guess that is the point they are trying to make.

The old world of TES is collapsing piece by piece.
The Septim Empire that we fought for in 4 games has passed on.
Morrowind has been destroyed.
Agencies and groups have changed.

It is nice to see 200 years of change.
The Fighter and Mages guild died out, the empire has shrunk, and everything that once united Tamriel is gone.

It took people like Uriel Septim to hold Tamriel under a single banner, but we dont have them anymore. What we have is a dude who sells out chunks of his empire to evil elves and spits on the corpse of a once great empire. But...Jagar Tharn and Dagoth Ur and Dagon probably would not have been any better come to think of it.

LOL. I read in GameInformer that Molag Bal is next in line to try and take over Cyrodiil, which is the main storyline in the TES MMO.

I mean, a crooked battlemage, the Thalmor, and two Daedric Princes, all trying to wrestle the Empire into submission - they just can't catch a break, can they?

Its like Warhammer 40K.

You win one battle a thousand more take its place.  Although the MMO is set before the Third Age in which all the games are set.

Set before the Third Era? There's no way in hell it could possibly be considered "canon" in any respect then - nothing about Molag Bal trying to take over Cyrodiil in any book I've read in Morrowind, Oblivion, or Skyrim.

Unless, of course, they intend to retcon everything - that would be a major fustercluck.

Well apparently he is trying to draw Tamriel into his domain of Oblivion.

Hopefully there is an option to kick him right in the nuts.

There is but it's a pvp thing. Players fight over control of the Imperial City and the faction that has control can fight him until another faction swoops in and kicks them out.

Frankly story in MMO's just suck but the developement team and especially some of the really big names Zenimax has is amazing.

Coldharbour? Well, I suppose that makes sense - Coldharbour is supposed to be a perfect reflection of Tamriel - except, err, "renovated" to Molag Bal's twisted specifications. Perhaps he does manage to partially pull Tamriel into Coldharbour, giving it its distinctive Tamrielic visage?

I dont want to play an MMO.

So many people are not in it for fun, just to get that gear drop, get that extra EXP, etc.
I want to play for fun, not to get some epic drop.

Oh come on, an epic drop every now and then is awesome. It's one of the things I like about Dark Souls - gotta get me a Black Knight Sword!

Yes it's a prequel, 2nd Era.  I should say "prequel" because we all know it's going to suck and will never be considered canon.

They consider Redguard and Battlespire as canon though despite their overall low quality.

First, canon is a stupid concept.

Second, they already did that with Cyrodiil being retconned.

Third, there's not much damage to be done. Practically nothing is written about the Interregnum.

I agree. How do you expect to find all of the cool little "extras" that don't show up on the map, if you don't walk around and explore?

My Dragonborn doesn't take a freaking carriage. That's for milk-drinkers.

P.S. I know I'm a little behind. Just getting caught up with the thread.

The issue is though that at low levels Spriggans are a bit much for my character.

I dont get their issues even, my Nord just walks by a tree and they attack him.
Maybe its Bethesda's jab at insane tree huggers.

Now we need a mod with some annoying hipster voice on the Spriggans shouting "SAVE THE TREES!" or something.

LOL, that reminds me of the hippies in Overlord 2 (Florian).

Honestly, I don't dig Spriggans at any level. I'd almost prefer to fight Dwarven Centurions. Image IPB
