I hope there wasn't a team already working on that >.>

Hopefully Bethesda looked at Mount and Blade for some inspiration. I'm gonna try it later today but it looks awesome Short demo

Awesome! I just started playing Skyrim again today and adding a bunch of mods after not having touched it for quite some time. I'm amazed I'm still finding new areas and dungeons.

I really want to see some bandits on horseback to do battle with.

And some kill cams for being on a horse.
Come to think if it, is there a mod that makes any horse you own immortal? I had Frost for a while...until a dragon ate it.

I believe I saw a "cowardly horses" mod that also had the option to make Shadowmere and/or Frost essential. Not sure about horses in general, I don't remember if it had that as well.

Yeah, I've got a couple of essential companions mods on; even Meeko is unkillable at present.  I'm sure I saw essential horses, or some such thing, somewhere in the Workshop. Just do a search.

Wait... am I reading this right?

In fact, by opting into the latest Steam Beta Update, PC users can check out the feature today.

Ooh!  guess what I'm going to be doing today ?

Brock, I probably have over 800 hours in between 360 and PC, and I'm still finding caves, cracks, crevasses, and characters I'd yet discovered.  Oh, and mods...simply magnificent.  26 loaded and actively using...and that number has only steadily risen over the past month.  The best thing I ever did was put down the controller, turn off the TV and XBOX, wave goodbye to the ME franchise, and start browsing the Skyrim Steam Workshop.

Hell, Skyrim's even better the second/third time around (some here are on playthroughs 8 and beyond), and the mods...hell, I'm gong to need a 12-Step program soon.

Skyrim is pure gold.

Downloading Beta as we speak. There's a companion mount mod as well for those who are interested.

Im 256 hours in on my first playthrough and I'm still finding tons of new things....and new quests :). I can spend hours just reading a book or relaxing by taking a walk somewhere, maybe ending up in a dungeon seeking out some good loot. I haven't discovered everything, but I'm close. There are only two or three places I know popped up black on my compass that I haven't officially 'discovered' yet.

I love my character, too. Best one I ever made.

My main is over 100 hours in right now, and I still have adventures to do.

He takes jobs from three different guilds, and strives to keep Skyrim going ahead.
You know AFTER he learns some more alchemy, enchanting, and magic.

He is a great warrior, and sneaker but there is always more to learn.
Then again he does just bum around Whiterun, with his wife and dog, relaxing.

Hopefully the next DLC will be interesting, since my Dragonborn really needs to find something new to do.

It works!

Shooting radius is severely limited toward the rear, but works good enough I suppose with a slightly better than 180 degree field toward the direction you're moving.  You can shoot to the front and sides fine, but really need at least one perk in Steady Hand to get some stability on the move.  Axe or sword appear to clobber anything within reach.

I hope there's actually enemies for mounted combat. The addition is nice, but I mean how many people are really going to prefer flailing your arm on a clumsy horse over the old-fashioned way when all is said and done?

Yay! I have been eagerly awaiting its arrival in the game ever since their hackweek video.

Of course, it won't be the same as M&B's real-time combat, and the satisfaction of skewering people with lances, but boy am I looking forward to Friday evening now :)

Is there any ETA for the non-beta addition? Being able to fight from the saddle will seemingly make long distance travel and exploration more enjoyable, and may keep a lot of horses from becoming additional targets.

^ I'm still anxiously waiting for the 1) dragon-sized mudcrab; 2) Home building; 3) spears; 4) fire and ice arrows.

Well I for one would love to ride down my enemies and cut them into with a calvery saber as they fall underhoof of my horse and are trampled into dust. Filthy Peasants and bandits have not earned the nobility of bringing forth mounted death.

Speaking of giant mudcrabs...remember this dude?  Forgot all about him, and just happened to run into his carcass last night playing with mounted combat.  I was shooting at a few MCs, and looked to the left.  Scared the crap out of me.

It looks like the area around Whiterun. I haven´t found that thing yet either.
