I've seen the crab once don't remember exactly where though. I also was like...what an odd ro...holy hell, wait its dead?

It's slightly west of Broken Fang Cave - go have a look, it's quite cool. Be prepared to fight a ton of mudcrabs though.

Just rode back over there to find it and get a screen shot of the location.  Well west of Whiterun out near Gjukar's Monument (just south and east).  That's Rorikstead to the northwest and Broken Fang cave to the east.

Oh, and for those who haven't seen the Skyrim Game Jam Video, here you go.

So far we've got kinect commands and killcams with mounted combat coming next.

Makes you wonder what else is on the way.

Okay I tested it out.

Pros? Its REALLY fun to take people down like some bad ass rider of war.

Hell I just took down an entire giant camp like the Battle of the Pelenor fields in LOTR.

Cons?
No magic or shouts from horseback at all, gimping some play styles.
No kill cams from horse back
Cant swing on either side of your horse with one weapon it seems
No first person combat on horse back

Its really a good first step but they need to add to it.
ALSO SPEARS I want that

I know mudcrabs are kind of like the kobolds from D&D but I will unhappy admit that those buggars have killed a couple of my low level mages who were a bit too blase in combat ^_^

That game jam video showed water arrows and their ability to put out fires, would love to see water spells added to the game. Though they might not do as much damage as the other elements setting them up for lightning spells to do more damage.

Also combining spells and dual-casting them to create new ones would be pretty neat, I'm hoping some of the stuff they showed ends up as part of Dawnguard.

It seems like Bethesda is gonna keep adding things onto the game even outside of expansion packs - it's pretty damn cool they're willing to do that and not charge a penny for it.

Bethesda may very well become my favorite developer if this keeps up.

Just hope most of those come to the 360 as well.

Anyways that spell mixing idea sounds neat, but the should add in water and air magic.

Oh SNAP! I just watched that video... some of those addons were f***ing INCREDIBLE. I would gladly take an arrow in the knee myself if it meant some of these would actually get released. :o

Same well minus being stabbed.

I was like "holy ****" when I seen the giant mudcrab. The house, foilage, I have to say even the werebear, I may just have to start a new run if they add all of this stuff in.

Yeah that's why I'm expecting a bunch of them be part of the expansion, monthly patches are nice and they'll probably keep adding stuff to them hopefully thorughout the year but if they put all of the content from that video in one package then I'm really excited about any upcoming content.

You know I really hope that they add some stuff to mounted combat, but looking at it what I really thing they need to add:

1) Spells/Shouts from horseback
2) Bandits riding on horseback to fight, maybe some patrols as well
3) Improving the aiming with your bow, since its a bit off
4) Improve your horses turn radius, since IRL horses can turn much sharper then in game
5) Add shield bashing if you have one since it sits there doing nothing the whole fight.

Because honestly...with some work this could be an epic addition to the game and add some really interesting battles. I mean fighting a dragon on horseback like a knight from a fairy tale would be pretty fun.

I was thinking about alot of this while testing it.  What came to mind, especially with the turning radius, slightly clunky archery and shooting radius, was to use the mechanic out of Red Dead Redemption. I almost felt like a medieval John Marsten with a bow...emphasis on "almost."  Like you said, a good first step.

Of course, if they get the kinks worked out and make this a new form of effective combat, then not allow bandits to fight mounted, you have a hell of an insane advantage in any given outdoor fight.  I wonder if Bethesda is worried about ES becoming a wild west sim and hence will only give mounted combat minimal functionality?

Well there are disadvantages to horseback riding.
NO STEALTH at all or backstab/sneak bonuses.

But seriously I want some mounted combat, its part of fantasy so why not?
Hell they should make Thalmor always be on horseback or something just so they can act "above" others.

It will be modded in but right now...I would give mounted combat a C+ maybe. Its nothing that fancy honestly.

That is the hollowed out husk of a GIANT EMPEROR CRAB.
As in the same thing we probably saw in that video with all the mods.
