Wow, Crossbows and Vampires!

My dream of creating a Pavise Crossbowman Mercenary ala Darklands Van Helsing draws ever closer. Looks like I'm gonna be having another run through of Skyrim once Dawnguard comes out.

Looks like there is a vampire lord who asks you to save his daughter and bring him one of the Elder Scrolls, and he's trying to darken the skies with some kind of magic.

So there are a couple of new joinable factions, the Dawnguard (vampire hunters) and this new vampire faction.

Although they said it would be around the size of Point Lookout, I get the feeling it will provide a lot more gameplay, since it seems like it will enhance the vanilla areas of the game as well with improved vampirism and new factions.

Looking pretty impressive so far, the fact it's supposed to be the size of Point Lookout is a good thing (despite the fact that I spent hours on that DLC and have still not completed it) so a good chunk of content to be found here hopefully.

Release date can't be that far off now surely?

He certainly doesn't look anything like the regular giants. Also, I doubt there will be many new creatures added that are not directly related to this Vampire Lord - Dawnguard conflict.

My guess is some kind of vampire abomination, or perhaps a giant infected with Porphyric hemophilia?

It's coming "summer" for Xbox and I think 30 or 60 days later for PC and PS3.

As for the price, it's 1600 microsoft points which I had to look up to see is equivalent to $19.99

(Wonder why microsoft doesn't simply list real prices instead of this points system.)

His plan sounded pretty cool to me - he's using one of the Elder Scrolls to work some powerful magic ritual. Sounds like an epic and exciting quest.

Because the way they do it the bundles don't really match up with the cost of things, so you will have like 400ms points left over after a purchase, but that thing you want to buy is 480ms points. Can you buy 80 points? No, you have to buy 500 points, which again leaves you with left over points and not enough to buy most things so its another 500 points and the cycle continues. Thats a very rough version of how it works.

1600 points is a fair chunk of change for DLC, it would need to be more than a couple of hours long.

Never thought I'd say this, but I think it's a wait and see purchase for me. I don't like the new price point unless we're talking about a full-on expansion, and it doesn't sound like this is one. I guess it's a wait and see anyway, thanks bloody Microsoft.

It's depressing, since there really is nothing else on the game horizon.

Seems like some new armor types, weapons, mounted combat, new enemies, island region with either diverse landscape or changing weather, the rivers shown on part of it, not sure if its a new area or the region around solitude.

So depending on things, not bad amount of content for the price.

On a side note most of the larger DLC's for Oblivion were the same price.
