Bloodmoon had nothing to do with vampires, though - and Solstheim could have (and has) changed dramatically in 200 years. Many Dark Elves fled there after the Argonian invasion and the eruption of Red Mountain IIRC.

The place is also very isolated and prone to foreign invasion and takeover - vampires could've conquered it at some point and turned it into their playground for all we know.

If they do that then you can be sure that certain people will complain they are redoing Blood moon.
Could be set in High Rock maybe.

That's really a bad thing, Bloodmoon while yes had a werewolf focus, the main conflict was between you and a Deadric prince. This however is a conflict between a groupe of powerful vampires who want to bloat out the sun and a group of guardians who protect the world from them. Even if it takes place in the same area, it's not the same or redoing Bloodmoon, in fact it's just adding to what was already a fantastic expansion.

Pfft the people on the Bethesda forums are even worse then people on the BSN.

They REFUSED TO PLAY OBLIVION OR SKYRIM SINCE IT DID NOT HAVE SPEARS!
That was for some their entire reasoning.

My money is on it being set in either High Rock or Solstheim, but you never know.
I wonder if they are going to add crossbows into vanilla Skyrim so you can see them in the regular world?

A few things about the trailer:

1). That big white giant was probably a frost giant as it somewhat resembles Karstaag from Bloodmoon.
2). Could that portal in the vampire fortress lead to the daedric realm of Coldharbour? That's Molag Bal's realm who is thought to be the founder of vampirism. Just a theory.
3). If the vampires can turn into demonic lords then perhaps the Dawnguard can also transform into something. Werebears?

Another thing I'm hoping for is this: if you get to choose between the vamps and the Dawnguard (which is likely) I hope that both factions have a grey element to them (like with the civil war) rather than being complete evil monsters vs noble paladins.

There is indeed a shrine to Molag Bal in the trailer, though more ornate and "active" than the one in Markarth - so it appears he will be involved in some respect or another.

Also, if the sun is blotted out and the crops die as Recon pointed out, I wonder something: it is said, that the Falmer were made into the unthinking brutes they are now by being forced by the Dwemer to eat toxic plantlife that grows underground - could the vampires be looking to do something similar to non-vampires? Is that why Falmer are apparently involved? Humans could be more easily controlled and made into cattle for vampires if they were subjected to such a plant, after all.

Also, do you think that this is still somehow related to the "dawn magicks" the Aldmeri Dominion used to hide Secunda and Masser for two years, except being used by the vampires to hide the sun instead? If so, does that mean the Thalmor could have an Elder Scroll?

Much to speculate about as a result of this trailer... this pleases me.

Looking at the map in the trailer it would seem to me that the Vampire's castle is in the absolute north west of Skyrim, near the border with High Rock.

Cannot wait for this. Seriously, my favorite game of 2011 is probably going to be my favorite game of 2012. I hope Beth goes way overboard with expansion packs for Skyrim. I can't get enough!

See what you did thar.

:D

Anyway as I pointed out earlier I'm pretty stoked for this myself and waiting for this to come out so I can start my 2nd run of Skyrim, also hoping Dawnguard adds to the vanilla landscape i.e: crossbows, new swords, armor etc.

Yes, I just noticed the map - it shows the area stretching from Markarth to Solitude with a distinct marking at the end of a fork in the river leading into the mountains between Skyrim and High Rock. But can we be sure it's a map showing where the vampire fortress is? The fortress itself seems to be somewhere out in the Sea of Ghosts, and the map in the trailer seems to correspond instead with an Elder Scroll.

Pretty good trailer breakdown...

I really didn't notice the vampire turning into bats until it was slowed down.

Saw the trailer. Bleh. I have no idea why people are so into vampires. I'll probably play it, for lack of anything else to do.

Flavour of the month. I don't mind vampires but I prefer them being rare and somewhat scary. Rather than what they've become.

I kinda agree with Addai67.  I would have preferred a DLC that further delves into the plotlines that already exist in the game.  But that being said, I'm not gonna turn this one down.  The story's premise from what I gather from the trailer seems decent, and the implimentation of Crossbows(!) and all the other gameplay additions the trailer shows are enough  to warrant  a blind, day 1 purchase from me.  No question.

As for the $20 price tag.  Bah.    For anything Skyrim-related that means nothing.  I paid $60 for Skyrim and If I knew then what I know now, I'd have gleefully  paid 10x that much for it.

Only concern I have right now is that I'm an impatient PC user.  How the hell am I going to survive an entire month knowing that the DLC is out and being  played/enjoyed by a million people but not available to me?  Damn, that's gonna be painful.

What a bunch of idiots.

They did not recognize Molag Bal, The Elder Scroll, and a few other things.

Hell I have 300 HOURS overall.
For the 60 bucks I payed that is around 5 dollars an hour, and I am still going. I have another three runs going and a few more to start.

For 20 bucks it adds hours of new content, new items, new powers, so I am giddy.

Plus I cant pass up the chance to punch out a bunch of panzy blood drinking sparkly faced mooks.
