For those with a 360 and an account on the Bethesda forums, you get to apply for a free beta of Dawnguard:

EDIT: If you don't have an account you can sign up anyway.

Tempting, but I think I'd rather wait for the final release.

Crap.

Now I have to wait for an entire month or so to avoid spoilers.
I really hate doing it to myself but the temptation is to much.

I was wondering where I saw that vampire lord before!

Its from the Van Helsing movies....huh maybe I should go and make a Van Helsing expy now.
Worships Meridia, carries Dawnbreaker, will use a crossbow all that

As far as I'm concerned Van Helsing doesn't worship anyone. But of course you can roleplay your Van Helsing wannabe any way you want. You might want to join the companions with your Van Helsing and become a werewolf, just like Van Helsing did near the end of the movie.

Anyway, my asassin already is an vampire, so he'll join the vamps. I also have a Templar-like warrior-like character who uses full-plate, the Dawnbreaker and lots of anti-magic stuff. He'll join the Dawnguards.

Sounds like this DLC was made for you.

That's my problem, I don't have any characters that it fits and am not interested in vampires to make a new character just for the expac. I guess undead- either being one or killing them- is not big on my list of things to do.

I did not think I would like the Shivering Isles until I acutally played it.

I found all the depth and color to the land very entertaining.

None of my PC's are infected with either vamoirism or lycanthropy, but that will not stop me from enjoying the 'War'. The affected foes met thus far in Skyrim have been memorable and rather challenging, so I look forward to slaying more.

And at least these vamps do not glitter.... Image IPB

Well, you can still decide to join the vampires right? And you don't have to be a werewolf to join the Dawnguard. I suppose both factions will provide compelling reasons for your character why you should join them. If you're not a vampire yet, perhaps the vampires in this DLC can convince you to become one? And if you don't want to become a vampire, you probably want to stop them, especially if they want to blot out the sun. So in that case, joining the Dawnguard seems the most logical choice.

So no, I don't think this DLC is specifically made for vampire or werewolf players. I guess players like you can still find enough enjoyable things to do without being a vamp or a wolf.

It's not tied to the Dark Brotherhood questline I believe, but according to the lore behind it, it is inhabited by a splinter faction of the Dark Brotherhood. You automatically receive a miscalleneous objective to locate the tower. Then you can simply enter it and craft or buy armor, weapons and accessories.:)

Sounds cool. A splinter group like the Crimson Scars, then? How did the occupants react to your Dark Brotherhood Khajiit? Are they on good terms with Astrid's group? Is the armor strictly a white variant of the DB armor, or are the enchantments different than the black version?

From the trailer, it seems like the Vampire Lord is using sonar to locate enemies in his transformed form, and the white figure in the scene where he uses that ability seems to have the shape of a werewolf.

LOL, because of this upcomming Skyrim DLC I'm actually in the mood to watch Van Helsing again. That movie was awesome and I'm going to enjoy watching it again. :D

We don't even know what all is in the expansion (which appears to be quite a lot), so I think it's too early to jump to conclusions like we all seem to be. All we can do is wait for more information.

Omg I can't wait for Dawnguard.

It's superb content will annihilate most fully released games.

Long live Bethesda. Skyrim is the gift that keeps on giving

Moonpath was very well done but it had nowhere near the quality of an real Bethesda project.

Hell looking at this I think Bethesda is saying:
"What do the FANS really want?"

-Mounted Combat
-Crossbows
-A new place to play in
-New powers to vampires/werewolves(maybe)
-New plot line to follow

They dont BS with "artistic integrity" or say they know better. They put out feelers, ask fans what they want, and try and make them happy. They get a very loyal fan base and a very dedicated group of modders as well.

Bethesda, Valve, CDP, and only a few other devs even seem to care about their fans anymore.

You know...20 bucks may be a lot but I am willing to give that out to Bethesda since all their past expacs (Shivering Isles, or Point Lookout) were well done and had hours of exploration.

Hell it might even add that stuff back into the base game it seems, meaning its not just a flashy DLC area but one that adds to the base game.
