F*ck it, I've just decided to create a pure 100% viking character after being inspired by this guy.

I'm ONLY going to use perks from the warrior tree and I'm absolutely NOT going to use magic.

And you know what? I'm gonna play him on MASTER!

I think my build will eventually look something like this: http://skyrimcalculator.com/#132715

This is gonna be epic.

I did something like that for my second playthrough and it was a lot of fun. Very different from the other characters I played.

Only used 2-handed weapons. Magic spells, sneaking around, picking locks, archery, enchanting, alchemy, all of that is for "cowards," so I didn't use any of that stuff.  Also didn't touch the College of Winterhold, Dark Brotherhood or Thieves Guild quests, either.

I sometimes asked my follower to open locked chests or doors. They have a random chance to open these things. Even though I had the player skill to open any lock, if my follower couldn't open it, I just skipped the chest .

F*ck yeah that's glorious. I'm gonna go dual-wield though. A steel sword in my left hand and a steel war axe in my right hand. I'm gonna f*ck **** up. If I ever get f*cked up myself, I'll take out my shield in my left hand for some extra protection while continue attacking with my war axe in my right hand. It's gonna be f*cking glorious!

Fixed the graphic issues I was having with patch 1.5. I had to use this graphic mod from New Vegas to fix it, believe it or not.

I'm finally able to play my Altmer thief again!

I finally found a smart bandit!

So here I was walking along a road when three bandits demand an "imperial toll" in...Stormcloak occupied Skyrim....

Anywho I splatter two of them like nothing, and the third?
I hit him once and then he runs for his life!

Then again he only had a tiny sliver of health left. Still he ran off but since I was near my destination anyway I let him run. Now I wonder if a bear or something gets him.

you can throw a piece of armor on the ground near bandits, and they will fight each over who gets to keep it

I dropped a thing of Dwemer armor I had in Riften and watched Mjoll slaughter people for it.

Including two priests, Aerin, a few shop owners, and a guard.
Then Maven killed her.

Still odd as hell.

Wow, I'll have to try this.

In the past whenever I drop something, people either try to give it back to me or complain about leaving trash lying around. I haven't seen any NPCs fighting over something.

Oh I have dropped a diamond in Solitude and watched people slaughter each other.
During the Burning King festival.

Seems like it was a good idea to ban it after all.

I've been away from Skyrim for a number of months and I intend to rectify that on the long weekend.

Can anyone recommend any mods that improve the gameplay in ways that either make it more difficult or add new dimensions/features to it?

I'm thinking about mods such as ACE or Economics of Skyrim. Probably gonna scrounge the Nexus regardless but I'd like to get some feedback on the mods people here use.

Dark Brotherhood Forever bugs me, as its always active and reappears even if you complete it.

Wish there was a way to make it go bye bye on 360. I know there's mods on PC to move the quest into the miscellaneous section.

Why? Its just a quest to kill someone for money lol. You can always unselect it in the quest menu actully.

Yeah, but it just looks odd since I've completed pretty much everything else and would like to have an empty quest log if I did everything.

Well all of the final guild quests are like that. I guess as they are more like "jobs" so never over.

I don't have any repeating Thieves Guild, College of Winterhold, etc etc quests in the Main Quest section.

Just DB. That's what grates me a little.

I try to do a lot of those quests before I do the important guild quests.

For example, I did a lot of the Devlin and Vex special jobs before doing the important quests for Mercer Frey.

It might have been meta-gaming in a way, but it felt like I needed to earn their trust and become a respected member of the guild before I could do the bigger jobs.

And since that was my very first time playing Skyrim, it was great that those quests given by Devlin and Vex sent me all over Skyrim. Up until that point I had only been to Falkreath and Riften. Had never even visited Riverwood. So it was a way to get to know the various cities and villages and pick up new quests and dragon shouts along the way.

I only got up to about 70% of the Thieves' Guild quests before starting over with a new character, but that alone took me around 200 hours.

You must have not finished them all the way then. Or just didn't speak to them afterwards.

The Companions have a "Go to Companion leaders for work" quest that repeats after you talk to them after finishing the main plot. Volkes (or whatever his name is) gives you item retrival and hostage saving missions, his brother takes you on dragon hunts. And The woman gives you beast killing quests. Plus after the main section you can cure the brothers on there request of being werewolves if you kept the extra heads.

The Thieves guild you have to do extra jobs to actully finish and be the guildmaster. And afterwards you can keep going back for work as often as you like.

The Mages guild has nothing minus fetching stuff like the books for the orc, and etc.

I do not mod much myself, but recently discovered a weekly Mod Recommendation youtube series from Gamespot, I believe. It shows the mods in play, so you can tell if they would fit your playstyle. You may wish to check on some of those.
