The problem Bioware has is where you and some others see "changes" that you do not mind, more of the hiterto satisfied customers dislike the removal of elements which they do mind.  That is why "when you press a button, something awesome has to happen" has become a joke.

I did not care for all the changes either; missed Kill Scenes a lot, as well as being able to upload new BSN portraits. And I pref DAO as a game.

But overall I was pleased, and was challenged in gameplay without having to use NM I am willing to overlook what some others see as flaws, and am now a fan of full VO, though I would like more exact phrasing in choices.

That's a nice opinion, but sadly the majority of the BioWare fanbase disagrees. And DA2 isn't the only BioWare game that has problems. Mass Effect 3 suffers from the same problems: Weak story, lots of plotholes, too much "streamlining", and both games f*cked us with launch-day DLC. I've just had about enough of EA trying to nickel-and-dime us every single time with all of their games, trying to make us pay as much as possible and as often as possible in order to be able to enjoy the game in it's "full glory" (relatively speaking, as DA2 and ME3 were not really that glorious). Sure, we got some free multiplayer DLC for ME3, but that was obsiouly a combination of damage control after the ending controversy and trying to promote the multiplayer in ME3. It is very obvious to me that EA wanted to turn Mass Effect into another mainstream video-game that appeals to the "CoD crowd". This is obvious if we look at how the design of ME3 was handled in comparison to ME1.

TL;DR version: I f*cking hate EA and I think EA should just vanish from the video-game industry because everything they lay their hands on gets destroyed.

Yes, I started out using the shirtless fur armor, then around level 20 or so, I switched to the stormcloak fur armor, and then when I went to Sovngaarde I used steel plate. when I returned from Sovngaarde, I was level 27 and it felt like the character was way too powerful. Also it felt strange to continue playing after the MQ was finished, so I retired the barbarian and started a different character.

As for the heavy armor helmets, just use whatever looks good. I often mixed up heavy and light armor. Didn't really matter since I never got any armor perks.

And you played on Master?

I plan on staying true to my Barbarian Berserker role. I want to stay true to my Conan archetype, so I'm not going to use any fancy armor. Just cheap piece of crap armor like the shirtless Fur armor or maybe Hide armor. Conan is not the type of character who wears Steel Plate or Stormcloak Officer armor. So far it's pretty damn hard, but I think once I get my Smithing a bit higher, I can upgrade my Fur armor and then hopefully I'll die less often. I play on Master and I did invest in the Light Armor perk tree, so I rather don't use heavy helmets, as that would kinda screw up my build so far.

Yep only playing on Master. Adept is just kind of boring because you kill everything so easily.

And yeah, I upgraded that shirtless Fur so many times! Every time I returned from a dungeon I upgraded it a little bit more. i think eventually toward the end of my playthrough, my smithing was up to the level where you can craft Dwarven armor, so I guess that was around 40 or 50?

Eola was also a good follower for a 2-handed melee character (and cannibalism helps as well of course ;))

Bleak Falls Barrow was really hard, much harder than for any other kind of build I played. I died about 20 or 30 times fighting those two Restless Draugr toward the end there. But it gets easier after that and if it's too hard you can always find a follower or a pet. I used followers sometimes to open locked doors or chests, because I never used lockpicking.

(In my case, I never finished that quest where Gilda the Goat starts following you, so she was my permanent pet. Much better than a dog because she doesn't push you off cliffs.)

Stormcloak fur armor is totally something Conan would wear, though! It's some Braveheart type stuff, man. You might also like the Savior's Hide since you are doing light armor perks. It's sewn from the skin of dead werewolves, can't get any more barbarian than that.

Or maybe look around for a rugged fur armor mod that has the style you like.

Dwarven smithing is 30. :P

What kind of gear did you give to Eola?

Did you really think Bleak Falls Barrow was that hard? I found it quite easy with my Conan character on Master! Then again, I did use Sven as a follower for Bleak Falls Barrow. Sven is weak, but he's a handy distraction. He often aggroed the draugr and I smashed them to bits with my 2-handed weapons.

I can't wait until I'm a werewolf. I'm going to stay a werewolf with my Conan character. He's not going to cure it (yet) because of the upcomming Dawnguard DLC. I already have a vampire character and I want my Conan character to be a werewolf, so I can test out both of the new vampire and werewolf perk trees.

Yeah, maybe Stormcloack Officer armor does fit Conan, but I read on the Wiki that the Officer boots count as heavy armor for some strange reason. So I can't wear the full set. I guess I'll just replace the Stormcloack Officer boots with some Hide boots or something.

Yes, the two restless draugr at the end of Bleak Falls Barrow killed me about 30 times. It was the hardest experience in the game for me, much harder than Alduin or any dragon.

I was level one at the time and I had no followers, and no ranged attack. The deathlord at the very end was much easier, because I could bash and block him, but the 2 restless draugr were teaming up on me.

In that pic, Eola was wearing Ancient Nord armor and the Stormcloak Bear-skin head piece.

And I had a lot of fun as a werewolf during that playthrough as well. I started some trouble in Solitude (I was playing a Talos-worshipping Nord, of course), and since I was not picking locks, it was damn hard to break out of jail. I had to use my werewolf form and I terrorized all those milk drinkers in Solitude for a few evenings. My bounty was around 30,000 gold in Solitude.

What are you're favorite mods?  I'm ready to take a look at some other fun/effective mods.

Here are the one's I get the most mileage out of:

Back Shields
Weapon Variant Expansion
Bandolier - Bags and Pouches
Dovahkiin Relaxes Too (Animations added for Dovahkiin to relax during down time)
Battlefield Skyrim (just cartoonish combat fun accessed through doors in Dragon's Reach)
Skyforge Steel Plate Armor
Dovahkiin Hideout
Breezehome Mannequins + Weapon Racks
Better Breezehome Magic Room
Breezehome Extra Storage
Sexy Well-Stocked Merchants and Vendors (not at all what the name implies, but they have a ton of gold on hand for barter)
Riverwood Enhanced
Beautiful Riften
Kill Moves - No Blur

There's many more of course, but these are probably my favs.

Amazing that I browse the Steam Workshop and Nexus regularly and still don't find some of these mods which sound great.

I would add:

Immersive Skyrim Thunder -applies to thu'um as well as storms
Midas Magic- I use the Bound Pickaxe all the time

There are probably more, I'll have to check our NMM when I get home.

Lots of those mods look cool but I wont be getting the WARZONES ones.

Because holy crap I dont want to run right into total war.
I like the occupy skyrim one.

Most of my mods are just tiny tweaks here and there. Nothing to big.
I did just get a mod that lets you play instruments.
Or bash people in the face with them.

Its odd you know.

Just these little things start adding up over time, and create seemingly a whole new experience.
I mean just having lanterns along roads, and on bridges is a nice little touch.

Oh snap, the main quest is what takes 10-20 hours to complete - the side content in the expansion is totally separate from that time estimate. He also said this DLC is bigger than anything they did for Fallout - so this is gonna be a hella big expansion, perhaps the biggest they've ever done.

Anyone familiar with this More Dynamic Injuries? I want to try this next, I'm kind of wondering if it might be too much with this, plus Deadly Dragons, ASIS, Real Wildlife, etc., all on master. But I love a challenge.

Looks great, I'll have to try that one. I want to try some kind of mods that add things like pouches or hunting equipment etc., hanging from the character model.

I'm going to have to put The Pines of Whiterun back on.

Cooking Expanded and Categorized Favorites look compelling.  Will have to look at those. I prefer smaller tweaks as well.  I only have one huge mod in Battlefield Skyrim.

Another favorite I forgot to mention is Fortified Skill Spells, which gives 18 new alteration spells that fortify skills like potions do.  Particularly useful for smithing, enchanting and barter.  The spell books are available from Tolfdir, but are very, very expensive.  No dual casting either to prevent overpowered exploits. Very useful and very convenient.

Mod List

Moonpath to Elsweyr-

Let's you travel to the jungles of Elsweyr! The home province of the Khajiit!

Nightingale Hall-
Adds Karliah from the thieves guild questline as a proper follower ( unique vanilla voice, commands, etc). Larger Nightingale Hall with an alchemy lab, workbench, and new Nightingale gear.

Essential Horses-
I was sick of my horse constantly dying

Dovahkiin needs to relax-
Gives the Dovahkiin the ability to use idle animations such as eating, reading books, etc.

Cloaks
Adds cloaks to the game.

D3D9-
Actually a New Vegas mod. Fixed all the graphic issues I was having from patch 1.5.

I forgot another mod that I can't do without- one that increases jump distance. It's a bit of a twink because now I can get places you normally can't, like those ledges on the back side of dungeons, but it's just too fun to leap down on enemies.

Not only that but it upgrades every vampire in the game. Even ones outside the DLC, £13/$20 is beginning to look like a serious bargain when theres more content than most entire games have.

Wow.

So they are not only adding a huge expac, but adding it seamlessly into the world, and tweaking the vanilla world while they are at it.
So like maybe seeing vampire lords in Vanilla skyrim then.

Damn I am so high levelled right now though...but I cant wait to see these new dragonbone weapons.
At least we have a choice of who to join.

Anyone tried Deadly Combat?

I think this might be the solution for the the player being able to stun lock enemies by making small stagger effects very common for all attacks. So enemies can interrupt your spells, ranged and melee attacks a lot more frequently (and you can interrupt theirs).

This mod also seems to improve the A.I. so they back up, dodge and move out of the line of sight when the player is using ranged attacks. I plan to test it this weekend.
