Anyone tried Deadly Combat?

I think this might be the solution for the the player being able to stun lock enemies by making small stagger effects very common for all attacks. So enemies can interrupt your spells, ranged and melee attacks a lot more frequently (and you can interrupt theirs).

This mod also seems to improve the A.I. so they back up, dodge and move out of the line of sight when the player is using ranged attacks. I plan to test it this weekend.

I'm currently playing with it, can't really comment about the AI since I'm only level 3 and I just haven't been in combat enough to make a judgement, but it is harder - you really regret swinging and missing a lot more. Timing is much more important. It's fun.

I think Joy Division asked me earlier what mods I enjoyed, not sure which is my favourite but one mod I'm very impressed with is Skyrim Redone. Massive Overhaul which is modular so you can pick and choose. I'm using all of the modules minus combat changes (since I'm already using Deadly Combat). Loving it, huge scope and well polished. It introduces a Vampirism Perk Tree, so I don't know how Dawnguard will affect the mod.

A little more DG info here, like there are both male and female vampiric forms:

Oh snap, the main quest is what takes 10-20 hours to complete - the side content in the expansion is totally separate from that time estimate. He also said this DLC is bigger than anything they did for Fallout - so this is gonna be a hella big expansion, perhaps the biggest they've ever done.

My wallet is open, Bethesda...

Bethesda, I'm begging you. Please. Take my money.

Wow, this really inspires me, and I think it calls for celebration. I will bring out my original Breton for the festivities. Or maybe my Orc? And would she be in the Dawnguard, or a Vampire Lord? How does one choose?

Argh, why do you people decide to post lists of mods just when the nexus decides to go offline! xD

Oh, I am finally in Blackreach for the first time. It's awesome. And a bit scary.

Was anybody else drawn to this thing? I was a bit disappointed nothing happened when I was finally up there. xD

^ I think something does happen there, after a specific something is done...oh, but I'm brain-farting, and can't think of what it is.

Edit: Aha, found it. Do you want a semi-spoiler? It's not a huge plot point or anything, but something does happen if you use Unrelenting Force on the globe.

Wow, 10-20 hours for the main storyline, excluding side content? Looks like a Shivering Isles size expansion!!

You want $20 for 60-80 hours, Bethesda? You got it!!

Just take my monayyy!!!!

Sure thing. I haven't tried it myself; I just saw it in the wiki. I hope I didn't send you back there for nothing! Image IPB

Wow, I've played the game hundreds of hours and I never would have thought to try that.

^ Yeah, me either. If not for the wiki, I'd have had no idea. I'm not sure how someone figured that out. I mean...do people typically just use shouts in random places? I do that in town, to get more word wall locations, but that's about it.

You mean the guard who gets angry when you shout gives you a word wall location?

^ LOL, no. You get a letter from a courier, from "A Friend", with a miscellaneous location of a place of power you should investigate.

This is the letter:

<Alias=Player>,

You caused a bit of stir in <Alias=Location> when you demonstrated the power of your Thu'um. Not everyone is anxious for the return of the Dragonborn.

I for one desire to see you grow and develop your talents. Skyrim needs a true hero these days.

You should turn your attention to <Alias=Dungeon>. I understand it holds a mysterious source of power that can only be unlocked by the Dragonborn.

Sincerely,
A Friend

Oh, I get those all the time. Are you saying you get more if you shout in a town?

LOL nice copy/paste from the Creation Kit BTW:lol:

You only get a new one if you don't have an existing one to take care of. If you do the existing one, then shout in town, you'll get another right away.

I actually tried that out a few times, just to see how long it would take to get a new letter. I did Aura Whisper in Whiterun, near the courier, and he ran right over to me. I had just talked to him before that, and he said, "nope, sorry, nothing". That's how I figured out why I was getting those letters.

Yeah, I just copied that out of the wiki. Image IPB

I still can't muster up much enthusiasm for the DLC, though I'm planning on getting it.

I'm thinking I'll use my orc, and maybe back up in her game so as not to cure her lycanthropy.  I'd like to try out the new werewolf perk tree.  She won't care about the whole Dawnguard business, who cares about being a holy warrior, just tell me who to bludgeon.

No magic, or shouts from horseback makes it lame though.

Meh I don't use magic, its nice to be a bowman on horseback. Honestly I have no problems in controlling a mounted Archer.

I never knew playing an Orc would be so awesome. In fact, when I first started Skyrim, I kinda figured it would be one race I'd never play. Despite my many other characters, my Orc is probably my ultimate favorite. I love something about each one of them, but Orbugob rulez.

I might redesign my "canon" character - I noticed all of the members of the Circle, as well as Sinding, have whitish pupils - seems to be a characteristic of those inflicted with lycanthropy. Those eyes are available in the CC, so I might use them, and make a few more adjustments to my character's face so that everything looks "right."

If I do not have a lower lvl in storage, I may start a new one to become a Slayer. And while I may lose the cool new steed, I still have access to Shadowmere via commands.

Wonder if a 2H maul on horseback will look like polo?

My Orc is going to side with the Dawnguard simply because he HATES Vampires.

Stupid cowardly back peddling health draining, frost magic using, vanishing PANZIES!
AH to cave in skulls with Voldunrung in Orcish armor.
Still need to do the civil war, marry Aela finish off a few more faction things and such.

It is pretty fun to just run into something's face then SMASH it.

Skyrim really does make you feel like a verifiable badass.

Here I was just checking out some mods I added for Riverwood, I walk out of the trader and lo and behold an ancient dragon descends on top of the smitty.

So poor Camilla is literally right in its line of fire, only for me to leap in front and stop its attack totally.
I still get a kick out of that little crowd that shows up when you defeat a dragon.

Even that little brat Frondar was for once not a complete idiot and insulting to the Dragonborn.
Nothing like beating a dragon to death, then eating its soul.

^ I always thought it was funny that the dogs and chickens run over to see what all the fuss is about, too. It's happened more than once in Riverwood. Image IPB
