My friend plays on PS3 where he has the "game freezes when you step in water" glitch.

He plays an Argonian.

An Argonian that can't swim.

/doubles over and dies laughing

There's a simple fix for that put out by the devs. Delete the 2 Skyrim files in 'game data utility'. Reinstall game and update. No more water freezing.

Oh snap, I just decided to toy around with a two-handed weapon, and... I'm not even sure why I ever bothered to use a one-handed weapon and shield in the first place. I am just flat-out dominating my enemies now, cutting down Bandit Chiefs like overgrown grass.

I may have to start over and use two-handed weapons from the beginning - though I think I'll test drive them for a while longer just to make absolutely sure I'm comfortable with them.

Yes, those are great coupled with the perk that ignores enemy armor.

Need some advice on my build here.

I'm currently a 9th level nord. I want to go assassin ninja. I've been building in sneak and archery, and I also began with destruction and restoration. I'd like to now go two wielding instead, but daggers are weak right now. Too late to change direction effectively, or is it workable? I'm also wearing all light armor. Is it worth investing in the light armor perks as well?

In my view assassin/stealth gameplay is a lot more fun when you can be easily killed if you are discovered. The danger is what makes sneaking around and backstabbing more fun.

No need to start over, but I would skip the light armor perks and go with stealth and one-handed. Get Assassin's Blade as soon as you can. If you want to be a hybrid archer/dual wield, then go for Steady Hands and Critical Shot as well.

Pickpocket and Alchemy also have some useful perks for an Assassin. I would not invest in any lockpicking, as you can pick Master locks using player skill rather than character skill.

My first character was an Argonian that dominated everything in his path with 2 handed weapons.  Seriously every fight was getting rediculously easy.

Buzz off.  No one cares about your anime monstrosities.

In other news, I'm liking the mage kill animations!  Always did like those for the other classes.

Tough luck, necromancy dude.  Enchanting means I got armor and still have better mage moves than you do.

Speaking of mods, I like Ancient Spells which adds some useful stuff from Morrowind and Oblivion that were missing in Skyrim, like Ease Burden and water walking which really ought to be in a Skyrim mage's repertoire, considering hypothermia and all.

Heh, I cleared out two bandit hideouts with a steel battleaxe - they didn't stand a chance. I just wish the kill animations for two-handed weapons were a little more dramatic.

huh? how are those anime-like at all? Just because I don't make men that look like testosterone pumped bearded vanilla barbarian 2 handed beasts like everyone else does.

Silly western perceptions of sociocultural norms.

That may be so, but your characters are the complete opposite of "vanilla barbarian 2 handed beasts like everyone else" and also quite cliché.

How are your characters anime-like at all you ask? Well, all I can ask you in return is: How can you NOT see that your characters represent pretty much every single anime cliché that exists today?

Sorry, you might think "barbarian 2 handed beasts" are cliché, but your characters are cliché too. They also don't fit in the world of Skyrim. That chick in golden "armor" (or whatever that golden stuff on her body is), she'll probably freeze to death as soon as she climbs High Rothgar.

Destruction and restoration do not really fit into an assassin/ninja build. Magic will be quite useless unless you go all the way up in the Illusion tree to get the perk that enables you to cast spells silently.

If you want to go pure assassin, go for: Sneak, Light Armor, One-Handed, Archery and Alchemy.

If you want to go for a more exotic ninja type of character that uses dirty tricks to confuse his enemies (like real ninjas did in real-life oot), you want to use Illusion magic. Of course real ninjas did not use magic, but this is Skyrim, not real-life. So invest into Illusion magic and get some nice Illusion spells, such as Invisiblity to become invisible and Calm to calm down enemies that are scouting/looking for you. If everything goes wrong, use spells like Frenzy to cause mayhem (enemies will start to attack each other) and then become invisible and get the hell out of there!

An Illusion ninja/assassin is super fun!

^When you can calm enemies, I'd say you don't even need to invest in light armor. You'll sneak up on most enemies and kill them instantly with a backstab, and when you mess up your sneaking, you can use calm and backstab them after all. Casting fury on one of the bandits in a group while remaining unseen is also pretty fun. The one you've casted fury on will most likely get himself killed by his buddies.

The only reason why I personally decided to invest in Light Armor anyway is for the Windwalker and Unhindered perks. Unhindered makes my light-armor weightless and doesn't slow me down, Windwalker makes my stanima regenerate 50% faster. I'd say that's worth the investment!

Oh I forgot how much fun playing a mage is!
I got a mod that makes spells get more powerful as you go so now I can really enjoy it.

Nothing says owned like sinking an ice spear into a bandits guts.
Or blowing up a few fire balls in a dragons face.
Or wiping out a camp of rebels with LIGHTNING STORM!

Damn.
There I go again channeling old papa Palpatine :POWER UNLIMITED POWWWERR!!!!!!
Made more funny by summoning two frost Atronach's and watching them rip apart people.

I may love being a warrior on my main, but nothing quite beats the thrill of demolishing people with magic.
What's that "magic is for milk drinkers?"

Bethesda has "denied us"  all romances period.  So fairness is still there.

But  for what it's worth,  a bro can marry a bro in Skyrim.  Take that be happy.

Funny little glitch I encountered... I'm replaying my Stormcloak battlemage, and ignored Breezehome this time so Lydia is still in the keep. When we fought Balgruuf, Lydia apparently got confused and started attacking both sides. I have a Followers Don't Die mod so she just kept going to one knee (as Lydia is wont to do), but every few seconds in Balgruuf's surrender cutscene, *everyone* would break off to attack Lydia until she went back down. LOL

Sad ending to this tale, I have found that Fus will break misbehaving followers out of strange patterns like when they get stuck in attack mode. So I tried this on Lydia to get her to stop attacking and alas, she dropped dead. Oh well. She was sworn to carry my burdens!  And as his last act in office, Balgruuf was kind enough to send me her inheritance.

Bethesda is almost as bad as Chris Avellone when it comes to this.
He HATES romance sub plots, unless they ended badly.

In FONV you could end up marrying Cass..but no he much prefers trolling people with an almost but not quite thing in the epilogue.

geez no fun allowed

the elder scrolls series was never about forced lore and facts on to you. A lot of the information you get is from reading in-game books and you perceive the world in any way you want. Some quests like the red guard woman in whiterun are completely ambigious and you don't know which side is telling the truth. It's pretty much your own world, mods like these help localize the flavor, and perceive it in anyway people want.

Some people who don't like this kind of style in their game don't have to download it, it's completely optional

I think the real annoying issues involve actual mechanics gameplay not how you perceive the world. There are a lot of mods for that though
