interesting new article in the Wall Street Journal about Skyrim

some highlights

- the dungeons are "in the hundreds"

- the game world is "3 or 4 times the size of FO3"

- "The dungeon is a kaleidoscope of trouble, every other room having some backstory or evocative detail—a Dungeon Master’s fever dream. "

Skyrim will be taking place 200 years after oblivion so I guess I won't be able to "import" my argonian character in terms of roleplaying. What is the lifespan of argonians, anyway?

It can be his great, great, great grandchild!

Yep as chunky pointed out they are already in the game.

However, if you're playing on PC, I'm sure there will be a mod to replace them with something else.

Thanks for the update here and on the last page naughty!!  Your making sure I remain constantly hyped!!    :happy:B)

Oh and Spiders look really fun to fight.

As for build.  Still not sure.    Duel Wield sounds great fun, but it will need a block option somehow.

OR it can be one of his clones. Or I'll just assume he absorbed the power of oblivion and became immortal.

I've always figured that the Argonians, in the ancient times, were designed by dragons. From there, I figured that if somehow, a dragon impregnated an argonian, the offspring wouldn't bare dragon-like details. And then I decided that was how my character was born, and now that Skyrim takes place 200 years, I still want to RP my Oblivion char, so I decided argonian/dragon hybrids can live around 1000 years.

I've been looking forward to it since around 2008 when I completely finished Oblivion. I have the utmost faith in Bethesda for creating a masterpiece of an RPG (in their own style) but they seem to be simplifying things, and that seems to be the pace it's been on since Morrowind. Regardless, I know it will be an awesome game and take my social life over.

Yeah, I know. I didn't know **** about the ES universe when I made my character, though.

Giant spiders=sweetness

I'm betting there will be at least one dungeon that is one big complex spider's nest. There won't be Shelob, but giant spiders are a good enemy.

Wait...I just realized this...there could be some hanging on ceilings and they drop down right on top of you, maybe shoot webbing at you in combat. I bet too a spider sting will deplete stamina really fast, too.

Bring them on!!! :P

Spiders should cripple/drain your health fast with extremely potent poison. That's how I would design them to annoy and frustrate players. :)

So, essentially, they would be the Cazadores of Skyrim?

I bet somebody is going to make a massive Mounted Combat mod and we will see some insane youtube videos - armies mounted on Mammoths engaging armies mounted on Frostbite Spiders on a panoramic field of battle, with 20 or 30 dragons spawned in the same cell to mix things up.

It's a new engine, but people spawn huge battles in Oblivion, FO3 and FNV - seen some insane youtube videos like this.

Oh, I've got a nice video of some really good skirmishes outside Camp McCarran in New Vegas between NCR soldiers and Fiends. Altogether, there were probably around 30 guys on each side, though they were split up into 3-4 battles, which would crash my game if I tried to run from battle to battle without "finishing" the one I'm currently in. Some really great stuff, especially with some mods I've got. They use cover, loot weapons and stimpaks if they are low, hell I once saw a Veteran Ranger try to flank a group of 2-3 Fiends who were using road barricades as cover.

So without a doubt, it's definitely possible. Now, as to whether that would cripple 99% of computers (Gamebyro has awful optimisation, hopefully Creation is more than just a rendering upgrade), or actually turn out any good without major changes to the AI (pathfinding and terrain detection is still lol), I can't say.

You know what I miss? Climb. Daggerfall had it and it's been missing from every game since, (iirc) they couldn't get it to work in Morrowind and Oblivion wasn't built as a single world so if you climb a wall, to say, a city you'd see the queen's underwear if you know what I mean.

Getting climbing back would be cool. Could add a lot to multiple approaches to quests.

"What's this you say? Reach the top of a wizard's tower? Well then, dear quest giver, I shall ignore going to the tower and fighting through levels of skeletons and zombies. I shall instead climb my way up to the top, I have faith in my superior climbing skills that I won't slip and fall to my death."

Plus I climbed halfway up a wall to keep from being slaughtered by skeletons.
One second you're alone and next thing you know there are two of them screaming in your ears.
