Which Hold do you explore the most? Least?
I try to do everything where my house/ base is. And I never seem to get to Solitude 'till late in the game and Falkreath rarely.

I loved exploring a ruin and getting involved in its history.
Even if it is sometimes just HOLY **** EATEN BY BEARS.

Did you find the child sized draugr in there? Very creepy backstory.

Need some advice on my build here.
I'm currently a 9th level nord. I want to go assassin ninja. I've been building in sneak and archery, and I also began with destruction and restoration. I'd like to now go two wielding instead, but daggers are weak right now. Too late to change direction effectively, or is it workable? I'm also wearing all light armor. Is it worth investing in the light armor perks as well?
I don't think Destruction is very practical for a stealth character. Sneak attacks with a bow are so much better!
And no, it isn't too late for dagger assasinations. In fact, my illusion assasin was quite effective with daggers with 0 perks invested in one-handed for a long time (like till level 40+). Of course get Assasin's Blade in the Sneak treee ASAP.
And you'll definately do yourself a favor if you do the quest to join the Drak Brotherhood ASAP and wear their gloves or gauntlets. They double the backstab damage, so for backstab purposes are equivalent to 5 perks in one-handed...
Finally your life will be MUCH easier if you learn Illusion. An Illusionist has total control over the battlefield... and enemy minds. With Calm his enemies ignore him and turn their backs to him even when they see him.... what's better for a backstabber? You can easily chain Calm-Backstab-Calm-Backstab-Calm-... you get the drill.
In fact, you don't even have to sneak much, if you don't want to! But it's still very fun to
scout the area, plan the attack and always get the jump on the enemies.

I don't want to be caught with a crossbow with multiple targets who are gonna swarm me(even if I can't die because my character is THAT awesome).
Then again, if there's one real strong opponent(like the new enemies, especially the new tier of dragons called Legendary Dragons), I think a crossbow would be more efficient.

For some reason certain music isn't playing, like during Alduin's Bane quest when you see him get banished by the Eldar Scroll and when you face him in combat afterwords.

All it takes is a save and reload to make it go away. It only happened twice, may happen again in the future.

Twice tonight the game would crash in such a way where my monitor will not work properly. Meaning I would have to manually turn off my computer with the switch and then turn it back on for my monitor to read my computer. WTF this happened once before with Civilization V and I'm wondering if my computer is going bad or something. Did a recent patch make things worse?

I had a small bug with that quest where he got stuck in the sky and would neither land nor take damage. Had to reload.ReconTeam wrote...

@ Rockworm: Video card going bad, maybe? These games put a lot of stress on them.

I noticed that Enthir (shady elf in the College of Winterhold) sells gloves that allow silent casting. Unless one of my mods added those? That would be helpful for a sneaky mage type if you don't want to spend the perks in Alteration.Haplose wrote...

There's a mod that allows for magic sneak attacks.
Ok, I have a bug. I picked up Erandur as follower- why did I wait so long to do so? he's awesome- but now he's stuck in a defensive stance and won't attack. He just lets enemies hit him. I tried dismissing and rehiring him, have given him every combination of weapons. He's got his default mace equipped and previously he was dual wielding staves. I tried to FUS him and that didn't work, either. If I have to ditch him I'm going to be sad.

The damage and damage/magicka values for Destruction are very underwhelming in the vanilla game.
I was forced to enchant and wear 100% or nearly 100% Destruction cost reduction equipment in order to use it as a main offensive skill. Even 10% of the cost was still too much... given that you need expensive dual-casts to get the Impact stagger effect. Didn't have such issues with any other spellschools.
And perked archery is just nicer to aim, to stagger, to slow time and the damage is much higher. Without the magicka cost. Well, you do need arrows, but it's not such a big deal. Even less so if you use the awesome Bound Bow. And it just fits the stealth assasin theme so much better then colorful magic explosions. Even better if you poison the arrows first.

Yuck, I hate those anime hentai mods with a burning passion. This is Skyrim, people! Not Japan!
I just hate chainmail bikini mods in general. It's pathetic to say the least.
geez no fun allowed
the elder scrolls series was never about forced lore and facts on to you. A lot of the information you get is from reading in-game books and you perceive the world in any way you want. Some quests like the red guard woman in whiterun are completely ambigious and you don't know which side is telling the truth. It's pretty much your own world, mods like these help localize the flavor, and perceive it in anyway people want.
Well, ain't you a little hypocrite? First you criticize people who play "testosterone-pumped hairy Barbarian 2-handed beasts", then you post some screenshots of a bunch of weaboo characters and then when we criticize your characters in bikini chainmail, you start complaining?
You posted your screenshots with "ujelly console gamers" as if we all would think your anime hentai characters are soo awesome. Well, big surprise, most of us hate that kind of unrealistic and over-the-top Japanese anime stuff.
If you want to turn your Skyrim into a Wapanese weaboo fest, more power to you. But don't be surprised when people criticize your characters, especially after what you said earlier.

I'm wondering if my computer is going bad or something.
My girlfriends computer did something like that on her games. They would crash/freeze where she would have to flip the switch on the back to turn the pc off/back on to get the monitor to work again. It also got to a point where she had to go even a step further and unscrew the monitor cable and screw it back into the back.
Anyways the part you're probably interested in; what was wrong? It was her power supply going bad. Bought a new one and it fixed everything.
As for Skyrim specific stuff.
I'm thinking of a character for Dawnguard. Probably going to make a cunning Imperial trader who was illegally selling supplies to the Stormcloaks (why he was in the execution camp). Give him a touch of magic (restoration/illusion?), crossbows, sneak and daggers. Put the rest into blacksmithing, speechcraft, etc.
No much into Vampires or Werewolves. Might make him a Werewolf so I can try out the new content.
Another character I thought was making a female Dunmer "Lara Croft" type of dungeon explorer who is a geek for all things dwemer. Build her in a way of like a DnD Artificer/technomage.

My husband made fun of her hair and her name, though, which made me second-guess the whole thing. *sigh* I know i will be able to change her appearance with Dawnguard, but her name?
So, alas, I'm up to 13 characters now. Some of which still haven't left Whiterun. I really need to stop creating new ones, and further them along in their greatness.

Thanks Greengoron, because of you, I had to create a new 2-handed Orc last night (battleaxe, of course).I gave her larger teeth than my original Orc, and those crazy blue eyes. I'm kinda thinking she might ultimately shake out to be a good vampire lord.

Lulz. Happy to help.
If you don't like the name though, coming up with another, better one isn't too tough - Orc names in particular are pretty easy to throw together IMHO. Something like Bashug gro-Sulush (male) or Gorbul gra-Mugbak (female). You can use this as a guide to get a "sense" of what an Orc name should look and sound like:
www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Orc_Names
I personally like to stick strictly to racial names for characters - a good Dark Elf name could be Sarvel Hlervi, an Imperial name could be Gnaeus Sempronius, or a Nord name could be Jorunn Frost-Leaf. Just examples I slapped together using a few naming resources. You can check to make sure the name you make up isn't already being used in the game by an NPC if you're really obsessive about it like I am.

I don't think I'll be able to complete Dark Souls before Dawnguard comes out. And I don't want to rush it. I'm a Level 32 Necromancer currently in the deepest recesses of passages and dungeons and civilization in the Dark Souls world. The foul, horrid puke of Dark Souls' underbelly isn't a pleasant place at all. Unspeakable foul creatures that will viciously murder you in seconds without hesitation. Nasty ancient giant slugs with tentacles guard ancient treasures and passages. Narrow crevices and ravines where you will inevitably fall multiple times to you death. The bottom of this is where I currently rest, mere feet from a floor of poisonous goo that is both littered with rotting corpses of dead creatures and home to gigantic insects. Large pesky mosquitoes are also present, and they are nimble and hard to kill. Attacking one often results in a counter where it'll quick suck blood from your neck, back up and proceed to spray your own blood at you...your own blood turned as a poison against yourself, the same blood pumping in your veins just seconds before. It's a foul and terribly diseased underbelly, it is.

I usually take a peek at Tamriel Rebuilt's name generator, which is where I got the inspiration for this new Orc. The problem is that sitting here, right now, I can't remember her name. That says to me that it wasn't very catchy. My first one was Orbugob. Short, easy to remember...but not particularly inventive.
Like, for instance, my Argonian is Eats-Many-Babies. I will always remember her name. And my second Breton is Darien LaVelie (because she is lovely, lol).
I do try to keep true to racial standards for naming, but sometimes I go blank. I'll scrap this Orc, and will create a new one, I think. Your link will be helpful in this.

Hard to say a favorite, but I do seem to spend alot of time up in The Pale, Winterhold, and Haafingar coastal areas exploring islands and swimming for wrecks, etc; but I do like the Rift because it's probably just one of the prettiest areas of Skyrim. I mean seriously:

If I had to choose a favorite to explore, it would probably be The Reach in and around Markarth and Forsworn territory. There are just a ton of winding paths, dungeons, caves, ruins, cracks, crevasses and hidden areas in the mountains and river valleys out there.
If I had to choose a least favorite Hold, well, that's Falkreath for me--I just hardly do anything down there.
