Wat? That doesn't make sense.... on a couple of levels.Lazengan wrote...

ok have fun pressing around 8 buttons and two analog sticks, while I have the unlimited potential of a keyboard. (perhaps this isn't a problem for those who enjoy a simple minded experience, but in my opinion games should be immersive and mechanically potent and challenging to use)
First, when I look at an Xbox game pad, the very last thing that comes to my mind is: Yo, this is simple! The exact opposite goes through my head. Game pads look needlessly complicated to me, not simple.
Second, game controls and user interfaces (what you're discussing) should never EVER be mechanically potent or anything else resembling complex. They should be intuitively simple. They shouldn't involve thinking. This is actually where legitimate criticism of Skyrim, from die-hard PC users, comes from. On PC, Skyrim's UI is borderline cumbersome, not very intuitive. The fact that one can eventually get used to it doesn't change this fact. Nor does it change the fact that the PC version of Skyrim sill asks the player to press about 8 buttons.... just like the Console version does.
No, your best bet, if you're determined to continue fighting the PC vs. Console holy war, is to focus on the completely undisputable: Graphics and Mod customization. The PC version does those better. So much better that Console users are forced to respond with indifference, by claiming that they don't care about beauty and customizing. (which isn't a valid response at all. it's just sour grapes)

I hope you're having fun with a game that bethesda catered to you for. Complete consolization of everything in the game.
seriously they treat PC gamers like second rate citizens and pirates when we are responsible for innovating most of their ideas when they take inspiration from nexus mods

I have the option of pressing more than 8 buttons. I have the option of mapping my keys to 30+ buttons
the Skyrim UI is same for console and PC, just so it can be accesible for console gamers. It's terrible and you cannot organize or set anything with it..
And I actually enjoy it when developpers don't treat their audiences like they have the attention span of a child and can enjoy a good challenging game with a lot of depth. The spell creation system in oblivion was great.

So do I, but we were discussing controls and UIs, not the actual gameplay. I want a complex, deep challenging Game, but I don't want to have to take an advanced college course in order to learn how to quickly swap weapons and spells when I'm in the middle of combat (for example)Lazengan wrote...

When the user interface itself becomes a minigame then the devs have messed up on the immersion thing and missed the point. The gamer should be focussing on what's going on in the game itself, not the buttons on his keyboard, right?

So now I have to make a Robin Hood it seems.

Archery (duh), Sneak, Light armor, pickpocketing, speech, and one handed I think.
Any one have any good cloak and cape mods?

Heheh nice one prince.
I'm trying to save the thread to be bloody honest.
Anyway, my character is patiently awaiting Dawnguard.
I unfortunately have a doctors appointment the day of the DLC dropping(my fault for having it scheduled on that day when I didn't even consider that it was coming out then).
Hopefully the appointment doesn't take very long, I have more important things to deal with then my balls.
I have to save the Sun from being eternally altered by a cult of shiny, sparkly, vegetarian, baseball playing, fairy vampires.

I just heard a comment from Brelyna Maron that attitudes towards Dunmer soured a lot after the Great Collapse, so I'm guessing that's also where the suspicion of magic comes from. I mean, you can sort of understand it if you picture Manhattan suddenly falling into the ocean but Hogwarts Midtown is still intact.greengoron89 wrote...
Funny how the Nords despise "normal" magic, yet revere the Thu'um - they're not entirely the same, but supposedly both are magic. The College even seems to consider them to be magic, as you can be admitted into it if you demonstrate your Shouting capabilities.

There are nice and decent people you meet.
Disgusting ones who are vile
Racist loud mouths
Open minded ones
And tons of people in between.
Something lots of RPGs do is just go to extremes.
I got bored in Dragon Age 2, or the Witcher 2 meeting people who 9/10 were just complete tools, idiots, or jackasses.
People ask me why my main lives in Whiterun?
It because I dont get the overwhelming urge to smash most of its inhabitants on a daily basis.
If I honestly have to ask myself "WHY EVEN BOTHER SAVING THESE PEOPLE!?!?" then I really get bored with a game.
As a famous Hobbit once said "There is some good in this world, and its worth fighting for"

Again and again and again and again and HEADSHOT.
Shame about that really guess they wont ever know who did that....especially since I used a elven arrow to frame the Thalmor.

Whiterun? I moved Ysolda to Solitude with me when we got married. I still go to my Whiterun home, but DAMN MAN.
How you deal with Heimskr is beyond me.
Alas, poor Heimskr - he died tragically during a werewolf attack, viciously mauled and torn to pieces right in the middle of Whiterun. Such a pity.

They are to me as well...since I want an epic dragonbone one to pwn some vampires with.
I am just going to get really pissed if someone says "YOU DARE OPPOSE ME!"
Yes far be it from the Harbinger of the Companions, Guild master of the Thieves Guild, Arch-mage of Winterhold, Thane of all Nine holds, Stromblade of the Stormcloaks, Champion of multiple Daedric Princes, and THE ****ING DRAGONBORN WHO EATS DRAGONS AND CRAPS AWESOME thinks of themselves as slightly competent.
Sorry I just get annoying in RPGs when people are so stupid they forget they are talking to people who can rout entire armies.

I hope he shouts "I told you so!" from Sovngarde when Talos really gets Shezzarine on the Thalmor.
#21448
Posté 14 juin 2012 - 04:37
But:
The Thalmor are basically National Socialist Goosesteppers
The mages guild quest line is REALLY like an Indiana Jones plot
You can help museuems a few time (dawnstar, Calcemeo)
You adventure into deep dark ruins, filled with traps quite often.
Really add a Fedora and some snakes....and you could play as Indiana Jones.
