I kinda wish we could use bears, sabre tooth cats, etc. as mounts (especially after the 1.6 mounted combat). Maybe I played too much Sacred 2: Fallen Angel back in the day, I dunno.

Hmmm...

I want a ridable moose.

I want to ride another person, piggy back style.

So how's that mounted combat? I haven't played much Skyrim since December.

Funny thing is, I'm waiting till Dawnguard before I try it out.

I am definitely getting that expansion. The vampire lord looks so awesome.

I just started up a new character about a week ago, in preparation for Dawnguard, but I haven't gotten a horse yet. I'm waiting to try it out until I get Shadowmere.

Seriously silly sidenote: I didn't realize that you could get a horse for free in Riften after you brawl with Hofgrir Horse Crusher. It makes sense, though; you can get a horse at the stable in Solitude if you do some farming at Katla's Farm. All it takes is being a "good friend". /facepalm

I was crushed when I found out that you couldn't ride Odahviing. I thought that was going to be the whole point of being able to call him.

I think I lost Shadowmere. He was such a good, evil-looking horse.:crying:

That is a bummer. I think they must have had you in mind with Dawnguard - at least with that, you have the opportunity to get another awesome black horse!

I still have Shadowmere, but I never ride her anywhere because I'm afraid of a dragon killing her.

But yeah, you can get a new undead horse mount in Dawnguard.

Perhaps this one can't friggen die. Jeez. I want a permanently essential mount.

Shadowmere is not onlt durable, but has her share of kills against the drakes in my game. And I use the console commands to add the mare into play now; easier than modding.

Oh I know Shadowmere kicks ass, but I'm just so careful. She died once in the past against a dragon, so I refuse to let that happen again.

Plus, I like traveling on foot. I prefer first person perspective in Skyrim, it takes longer to get anywhere, and I can enjoy the scenery.

I enjoy foot travel, too. But with Console Commands, recalling her if fallenj may be possible, too; never has occured to me, but seems likely. And I wish to have at least one mounted rider of doom.

I find myself fast traveling less and less, so I see her very few times nowadays.

I just walk everywhere, no matter the distance.

I walk everywhere, too. My husband was just giving me crap about it again last night, in fact. He said, "why do you still walk, when you can pay to go there?" (in regard to my new game, where I still haven't visited many of the cities). I told him that only Milkdrinkers take the carriage. He came back with, "but you've done the 'walking' thing before."

I finally just had to say that I always would. Image IPB

I just like enjoying the scenery, and finding hidden treasures that you would miss if you were fast traveling.

I know, right? Fast traveling sucks the fun out of the World.

There are some absolutely beautiful places in Skyrim that you'd miss if you just fast traveled everywhere.

Exactly. I'm not playing Skyrim to hurry up and finish all the quests. I'm playing it to enjoy myself, and I delight in finding new things that I haven't seen before, in over 1000 hours of play.

I'm always giddy when I find new ruins, or shrines that I never knew existed. I think some people are under the impression that the only things to see are noted with a map marker. That is just so wrong.

As far as Shadowmere's gender goes, Shadowmere was called a mare in Oblivion, but in Skyrim they switch between referring to Shadowmere as male or female.

My character is male, hell I'm male, and its known in the Equestrian field that humans and horses connect usually better with the opposite sex when riding and hanging out, so men with mares and women with stallions.

So I decided that as far as I'm concerned, Shadowmere is a mare.

To me, Shawdowmere may take the form of a female, but seems to be made of non-gendered Planar material; my impression when one gets her added via DB quest. And I plan to utilize her in Dawnguard if the new steed is vampiric riders only.

Nah, I think you can get the new steed no matter what. Limiting a new mount to just Vamps would ****** folks off.

It took me like 50 hours into my main file to see the big statue of Talos over looking Windhelm.

But...its kind of boring right now.
Full Daedric plate, two Daedric items, and an epic sword means I can just carve through any problem.

I love the Reach, myself - I used to hate it, but the more time I spent in it the more I came to appreciate its beauty. It's clearly based on the Scottish Highlands, and even the natives are based on the Celts.

I do enjoy the surprises, such as encountering a speed casting Hagraven and her summoned Wisps. If it were not for poweerful stealth, this encounter makes for a few more reloads than most.
