For the Blessing of Nature quest, the game does pretty openly present the annoying Maurice Jondrelle and his alternative solution...you just didn't keep him alive   I dislike him so much I usually ignore him even though I feel bad for the two other people who get killed by the Spriggins in the sanctuary.

I do think Blood on the Ice wasn't handled right.  If I were the Dragonborn, I would not part with the amulet because that's critical evidence, but if you follow this (correct) route, I think you just wind up with a worthless hunk of jewelry ou cant even sell.  With the journals, you don't need to be a handwriting expert to tell if they are Wuunferth's...there should have been some way to examine something he wrote before just arresting him.

I think the game also tries to push ou to do Brynjolf's scheme to find Esbern...you can't just go into the Ratway.  My first character had zero thief skills and no desire to help him which was annoying, but I did talk to the barkeep in the Bee and Barb first and luckily found out her more efficient alternate solution.  Actually, now that I think about it, it is probably better for some quests to have less conspicuous "better" solutions the player has to investigate on their own to find rather than being led by the hand (and quest markers) - it's better immersion and rewards the player who explores.

^ Yeah, I didn't know who that Maurice Jondrelle guy was. All I knew at the time was that I talked to Danica, and immediately got accosted by some dude who wanted to come along. So I let him come with us, and lost him along the way. I felt kinda guilty, but not bad enough to reload. In subsequent playthroughs, I just ran out of the Temple of Kynareth before he could have a chance to talk to me. Eventually I decided to bring him along. It was a total facepalm moment, to be sure.

I think I missed something with Keerava in the Bee and Barb - what did she say that gave an alternate solution? I think I must play when I'm sleeping, sometimes. Image IPB

^ She just tells you (in-game) that the old guy is probably holed up in the Ratway. The quest marker to find Esbern won't show up on the Ratway until you either talk to her or do Brynjolf's scheme (i.e. you just can't walk in there, Dirge's dialogue won't show up, etc.).

On your inspiration, I've decided to take Eola on this playthrough. She's fantastic! I also tried Erandur. He's has pretty good dialogue/makes interesting comments, but he has no combat skills and isn't good at fighting.

The only thing I don't like about Eola are her missing dialogue parts - there are times when you can see what she's supposed to say (I keep captioning on), but nothing comes out of her mouth. Very disappointing. I did a Companions quest a couple of days ago, which sent her back to Reachcliff. I opted to pick up Jenassa after that, to whoop things up, then stupidly did another Companions quest. I have no idea what happened to her - it's been about 3-4 game days, and she is nowhere to be found.

So now, I'm palling around with Belrand. We did the Movarth vampire quest in Morthal, and the fool kept dying, and I was nowhere near him. I had to reload twice. I think that vampire voodoo that they do was his achilles heel. I'll probably strip him of his gear, and send him back, I don't know. I do enjoy his random comments when we go into ruins. I still need to try Illia...

I only tried Erandur for a little bit. In my playthrough, he used a mace, but yeah, he wasn't particularly good in combat once his mana runs out.

I never saw a reason to ask the thieves about where Esbern was located.

The Ratway is not that big to warrent directions....unlike the sewers in Vivec.

I started to ask the first time, but did not like where it was headed. So I used some old school maze strategy, and found him myself most of the time.

Oh yeah, I was going to mention...in this new playthrough, it seems like dragons keep flying off! I'll get them about 1/4 of the way from being dead, then they just fly away, and I can't catch them in time. So weird; I don't remember them doing that in previous playthroughs. Usually they would land nearby, and I'd take them out all "up close and personal".

Anyway, a Blood Dragon attacked us between Solitude and Dragon Bridge, and I noticed M'aiq the Liar running by the rocks, and cowering. Cool, I thought, I'll go talk to him when this is over. So the dragon starts flying a bit of a distance away, then comes back, and by then, a group of Thalmor join us in attacking it. Next thing I know, the dragon flew away, and M'aiq was gone. *sigh*

Obviously I need to get better skillz, or something. Image IPB

Huh this is kind of cool.

I can take the light armor tree and pretty much become a melee fighter BUT I can also ramp up how effective my thieving/assassin gear gets as well.
It just works out to perfectly really.

I get to be able to fight in melee without worry, but also get very very good gear as well.

I just started using the bow for the frist time.actually feels pretty good.

anybody (360) wise have issues with not unlocking shouts(also achievement for shouts)

Archery is awesome in Skyrim.  I really, really like it and I primarily melee and shield bash my way through Skyrim.  Run your score on up to 60 (hunt alot of animals) so you can take the second perk on Steady Hand.  Max out over draw if you can.  You'll never miss and you'll one-shot alot of your targets with a properly improved bow.

I played my first playthrough on 360 and had no problems with the Shout achievement.

Thats actually what i planned on doing for my character.ive been hunting wolfs, bears and finding spiders.mostly the giant spiders are getting close to killing me.believe my archery level is 32-34 now

^ I had another blood dragon attack last night in Morthal. I was worried that one had flown away, too, but he had landed behind the houses, where Helgi's body is buried. Anyway, imagine my glee when my kill shot had an archery animation. Woo! Take that, big bad dead dragon!

I still haven't used a shield. I mean, I did try it in one playthrough, for like a split second, but kept forgetting to actually block. As for getting chomped by dragons...I just learned to stay far enough back that they couldn't bite my character. Image IPB

@Daiz havent found helgi body(or did the quest even).ill have to check into that.
i know right getting kill cams on the dragons is fantastic

indeed.took me a bit to get use to actually using it.but its fun getting in and shield bashing back the dragon.then taking two-three swings and repeating.with dragonrend it makes it not even close to not be fair.

He will take mana potions, but man does he suck them down like crazy.  OTOH, I would just as soon give them to him as crank out a bunch to sell.  I gave him some enchanted equipment, improved his mace and added an absorb health enchantment (which I do for all companions as soon as I can), forced him to level and now he's quite a beast.  He's using fireballs now.  So we're two fire mages and sometimes my atronach, too- holy inferno batman!  The good part is that because of Dunmer fire resistance, I can drop fireballs on him and not have to worry about him too much.

We're doing the Book of Love quests now.  He's turning my Stormcloak into a Mara believer.  Image IPB

edit note- He is a pure destruction mage (I think he has restoration, too, though I don't see him use it), so it may help if you have Balanced Magic because otherwise he will suffer from destruction's relative weakness.

I finally got my stealth build working!
He is wearing a half DB/half Nightingale outfit for most of his work, has Chillrend as his main sword, and will pick up that bow he uses to kill the Emperor's cousin later on.
Sure he wears nice heroic armor but his main get up is this....oh hell is it fun to ghost through and murderize people without them ever seeing you.

Like that quest in Markarth I did.
No one saw me going in, or coming out, as far as they know there was an accident in a lab and maybe some missing paper....

Oh I cant wait to take Ra'Virr the Listening Nightingale into Dawnguard.

Does anyone use Skyrim Redone or ACE - Comprehensive Enhancements I feel like using a mod that drastically changes the game but since I have no knowledge on either would like some opinions though Skyrim Redone sure changes a ton of stuff.

What aspects of the game do you want to change, and in what ways? Combat mechanics? Magic skill trees? Enemy spawns? A.I.?

I've considered SkyRe and ACE, but they change so many different things in different areas that they would seem to conflict with my favorite mods like Deadly Combat, ASIS, Frostfall, Deadly Dragons, Real Wildlife, IMCN, etc. Also, some of the changes seem great, but some don't.

Out of the two, ACE seems to offer more customization options that allow you to tweak the settings.

I suppose there is only one way to find out, by installing and testing them.

Yea I'll be messing around with Skyrim Redone first since it seems more popular of the two really like that Shouts level up Speechcraft why didn't Bethesda think of that?

So in Bloodmoon you meet a Nord who was once one of Ysgramor's Companions and needs the help of the Nerevarine to enter Sovngarde (read: needs to be killed).

Well guess what, this chump is actually in Sovngarde in Skyrim.

What I like to know, though, is how come this guy and his buddies managed to stay alive for almost 4,000 years after Ysgramor's return to Tamriel.

They're descended from those guys? Either way, that's a credit to Bethesda. They care enough for their nerds to have easter eggs like that.

I guess he's not called the Unending for nothing?

Makes you wonder about Wuunferth.  See, Nords do magic, too.  :bandit:

In Morrowind: BLOODMOON you find out that he and some of his pals were seeking to enter Sovngarde somehow.

Their friend is who a great magic user tried opening a portal by using the life of his three friends, that chap included. Two of them get turned into stone instantly, but mister Unending fights off the spell and kills the mage.

Now he is immortal and cant go with his friends to Sovngarde.
Until Mr/Mrs "I beat demi gods to death" comes along and sends him there.

Hugggff....wha.....I....huh.

So here I was in Solitude...and a DRAGON shows up. I think its interesting since I have not had it happen in that city.
However I am attacking it and doing some good damage on its wing then I hear:

"YOUR BLOOD WILL BE ON MY BLADE DRAGON!"... said by none other then Noster Eagle Eye.
Then he jumped on its head and stabbed it to death with a knife.

I was too shocked to take a picture I just...what!?!

Then he walks off like a champ asking for coins.
Ladies and gentleman all hail the Dragon slayer of Solitude!

Why do the Orcs taunt by saying, "Better pray to Stendarr!"? Is this a reference to one of the older games I haven't played?
