Don't miss it at all. Perks are a lot more fun because you feel like you're actually making a character rather than (to use Todd Howard's term) making a spreadsheet. Although perks were better in FO3 and FNV. They're kind of boring in Skyrim, basically just stat upgrades.jon1991 wrote...

My biggest complaint about Skyrim is that it's too streamlined in some ways.

A few of them yes, but the replacements aren't any better. The Stormcloak guy in Falkreath is much better and he certainly speaks his mind, calling Ulfric power-hungry but saying "he's the devil I know." Then there's Maven in Riften. Laila is a dunce, but she at least is pleased when you take out the skooma operation. "You've done more than anyone in my household has in years." Helloooo, septim still hasn't dropped, eh Big L?Confess-A-Bear wrote...
What I find funny is almost all of the rulers that back Ulfric are either comically inept, or lap dogs. The Empire actully keeps leaders that either half listen or speak there mind. Minus at the very top, in the form of the Emperor lol. Here's hoping the next one is better.
I like Idgrod Ravencrone, but she's losing her grip. Still if I had my way I'd give her back her hold or give it to her daughter at least, and send Sorri the Builder back to the mines which are also crucially important. The funny thing is that people say how xenophobic the Stormcloaks supposedly are, but Sorri is the only one who has an Argonian in her household. As for Vignar, he's a good guy, and he'll probably kick off soon. Then hopefully it will go to Olfina and she can marry Jon Battle-Born and heal Whiterun with their precious wuv and cute blonde babies.

Pft look at Riften like Chicago. Then you can shrug and say the only way to fix it is to burn it and kill almost everyone that lives there.
That works for me.

Yeah, the difference was made evident to me a few days back when I took the Jury Rigging perk in NV. Nothing like that in Skyrim.
Probably something to be said for each franchise maintaining some sort of independence though.

So I got the bonus for bumping off Gauis Maro.
But the Ancient Shrouded Cowl wont show up on Khajiit or Argonians?
That just royally sucks.

Actually, that may be a selling point to more than a few Players, as the cowl itself does not appeal to everyone.

for someone who says that fallout 3 is streamlined and shallow compared to F1 and F2, I am shocked to hear that you prefer skyrim over oblivion in terms of mechanics and gameplay.
Umm, let's see.
Oblivion:
1. "Basing" your character class on your least valued and used skills and tagging them "Major" to slow down levelling? Check!
2. Being forced to grind skills you don't particuarly like to get better attribute multipliers between levels? Check!
3. Mechanical grinding of silly skills like Athletics, Speed, etc in order to improve your gameplay experience? Check!
4. Moronic full level scaling and bandits in full Glass/Daedric in every godforsaken cave? Check!
5. No chooseble perks? Check!
6. Tedious equipment wear and repairs? Check!
7. Very exploitable magic and enchanting systems with triple weakness effects killing everything in 3 hits? Check!
8. All spells feeling the same and lacking notable impact (simply spamming orbs of different colour at enemies till they die)? Check!
For me Oblivion has the worst computer game system I know.
Skyrim:
Playing whoever you like and progressing organically while choosing perks to specialize? Check!
Sorry, for me there is no contest.

I actually told a friend of mine to try Oblivion first, so that he could see and appreciate the massive improvements in Skyrim (and learn some of the lore of Tamriel). I feel kinda guilty, now.
But alas, he didn't get far in Oblivion, and is now playing Skyrim, so rock on.

Helluva catch. Disregard my previous.
Although it does give me the opportunity to bi+c# for a moment (cha...like I need an excuse). My blocking has just recently bugged out. For some reason Shield Charge has suddenly stopped working. The shield raises, I can run with it raised, but enemies are now impervious to its effect.

Now its just me and Shadowmere taking on the world.
Never saw a horse kick a dragon in the face before.

I didn't know anything about TES until Oblivion... Aaaand I'm kind of a graphics snob.
I gave Morrowind a shot (after Oblivion), but I just couldn't do it. My eyes felt like they were bleeding. Oblivion was passable at that time. Morrowind looked awful. I couldn't even get into the story, because I was too distracted by the pixels.
See, I don't even need to play an evil character. I am one. Muhahahah.
Don't hate me because I'm shallow.

Back to Skyrim, Dragon's Dogma and Saints Row 3 for him.
I have a couple of friends on BSN that I've coerced into playing Skyrim, and I think they're having a pretty good time. I don't know about you guys, but I'm starting to get crazy excited for Dawnguard. I will try my hardest not to spoiler on here after next Tuesday.

On the other hand, Someone new to gaming who "grew up" with post 2006 computer graphics will indeed have a really tough time digesting the graphics for ancient games like Morrowind or BG1, because they never had to do such a thing before. But for the rest of us, who still remember the hundreds of hours we put into Ultima VII, Fallout 1 and Baldurs gate, we can easily go back to playing them, as our minds will automatically revert back to when such graphics were beautiful.

LOL That's about how long I've lasted with Morrowind, too. I spent more time getting the graphics overhaul mod installed than actually in the game. I do want to go back to it, once Skyrim is in the ground. The MGSO is a must, it makes it look fairly comparable to Oblivion graphics wise. Of course I never modded Oblivion, so if you're used to an upgraded Oblivion...happy_daiz wrote...
^ I've heard that, but I've only played Morrowind for like 10 minutes.

I mixed black mage robes with the shrouded hood, hand wraps and shoes. So he gets most of the rogue bonuses without wearing actual armor, and the 50% beta mana recharge from this robes are far better than the 15% better Destruction from item set robe.
For those who are wondering why he is wearing a hood at this lovely weather:

I know he is plain ugly. But that's what I was going for. My inspiration were the Ripper from 'Last Action Hero' and Terry Gilliam as Jailer in 'The Life of Brian'.

Enthir sells gloves that allow for silent casting. There is also a mod that gives you sneak attacks from magic. It doesn't work as well as bows, but I've gotten a few x1.5 bonus hits.

My final equipment will have two enchantments per item. Best would be 1 enchantment for mages and one for assassins on every item.
ATM the thing that I enjoy the most is casting calm on an enemy and then backstab him. Done this with a bandit. While I killed one of them, the other shouted out 'I'll get you murderer! I'll swear' while looking into my face and not being hostile.
