Oh, it was? I bought the GOTY editions of both Morrowind and Oblivion, so I don't know, either.

...so if their other TES expansions were $20, why the hell are people complaining about the price of Dawnguard as if that price was unusual or unfair?

EDIT: Oh snap, so Shivering Isles cost MOAR than Dawnguard - I'm gonna slap the next person who says Dawnguard is overpriced, now.

Gamers ALWAYS complain about things really.
It could be a dollar and people would still complain.

I know I'm not complaining. Dawnguard is 1600 MS points and I have 1800, so I'm all good.

:( I'm short 1340 MS points. And I need to get JSR HD too. *Sigh*

Shivering Isles was an actual expansion pack,  that you could buy at the store.  It came complete in its own box, it's own CD... the works.  Same with Tribunal and Bloodmoon.  They also cost $30 bucks new.

I think the reason why some people are b*tching is because they grew up in today's gaming world, where micro-transactions are the norm.  But back in Oblivions/ and Morrowind's time, there were things called expansion packs that you had to go to the store to buy... and pay about $30 for.  They were meaty.  There was nothing "micro" about them.

I'd prefer not to split hairs, if you please - Dawnguard offers a very large amount of content especially compared to average "DLC", and thus I'd label it an expansion (or at least expansion-sized).

When I can go to Best Buy and purchase Dawnguard on Hard copy, and the box contains a user manual and a CD/DVD, then I'll call it an Expansion pack. Until then, it's a DLC. Tell it like it is.   It's not a criticism. Like I said before, I'll gladly pay 60 bucks for Dawnguard, Since Skyrim was a steal at only 60 bucks, and made me feel like I cheated Bethesda out of about 300 bucks worth of content.

So...by your logic, then that makes Shivering Isles DLC. As well given I dled mine off XBL it had no of those "expansion" items.

Skyrim itself was DLC, since you can download it off steam.

I think most people know the difference between DLCs and Expansion packs, though.

Very well, henceforth Dawnguard shall be known as an "expansion DLC."

Why? Because I said so.

Semantics people SEMANTICS.

Technically ANYTHING you download for a game is downloadable content.
Also since Dawnguard EXPANDS on Skyrim its an Expansion pack.

So lets just call it a Downloadable Expansion Pack and be done with it please.

No matter what its called its still going to be pretty epic.

I freaking love N@zir...from know on I will call him Brozir.

90% of the Jarl's are just useless really.
Especially the Riften Jarl.

Durr all things are going good! Doing nothing while the greatest criminal enterprise ever rebuilds itself right under your nose.
Its rather odd that the two "dark" factions treat you so much nicer than everyone else.

I mean Brozir. Delvin, and Vex eventually treat you like Superman.

Eh?  I would love a mod where I get to punch Vex and Tonilia in their sourpuss faces.  Delvin is only slightly better.  I had already finished the main quest line, so saved their guild, and got a quest from him to cook someone's books- turned out it was my character's husband's books, so she turned down the job and got a big lecture from Delvin about being a team player.  While they all sit around moldering in the Flagon.

The DB do act somewhat guild-like.  In general I think Skyrim went a little too far on the grouchy side.  Nords aren't supposed to be as crabby as Dunmer.

Yeah but who does that anymore?  There's no need to make a box when everyone dl's it anyway.

We'll just wait and see.  Some of us longer than others.  <_<

There are definitely a lot of ass holes living in Skyrim - thankfully, most of them warm up a bit after you earn their favor.

A pity the two main races in the game (Nords and Imperials) are all such grumps- while the least liked races (Dunmer, Khajiit, and Argonians) are among the most polite. Funny how that works.

Thats how it works in real life too. The more polite you are, the less you are liked. Terra is ass backwards.

Not just grumpy, but most nords seem stupid and are bigots. Not that you ever really get to feel the racial issues since the pc is usually seen as a nord...even if you are not a nord.

Well, High Elves and Imperials at least have always been smug and full of themselves - Nords didn't come off as bigoted until we arrived in their homeland.

Naturally, the Imperials are as entitled and holier-than-thou as they've ever been - but they at least aren't quite as stubborn and close-minded as the Nords seem to be (which is bad for business if we're planning to take out the Dominion). Gotta pick the lesser of two evils, I guess. <_<

Well, bigotry is just Tamriel.  All the races look down their noses/ snouts at each other.

I don't get annoyed by people who are funny.  That guy is funny.  I'll take him over those frigid blotches in the Flagon any day.

I must have made Tonilia a wealthy woman several times over, you think she could crack a smile.  Noooo.

I think most of the Jarls are tools because their Imperial connections...the game makes it clear they are borderline puppets (e.g. the annoying Imperial plant in Falkreath and the Jarl of Solitude is default High King).

All the TG members in the Flagon are brooding grouches (Delvin is all right) but I think all in the Cistern are actually cool and friendly. I hang out there myself.

My favorite Jarl is Siddgier of Falkreath. Lets face it: it means exactly nothing to be a Jarl of a Skyrim Province. But at least Siddgear has no illusions to the contrary. And so, Unlike all the other Jarls, he doesn't waste his time pretending to be political.. Instead he milks his position's non-political perks: Hunting, Eating fine foods etc.

Actually Dengeir, his uncle who becomes jarl if the Stormcloaks take over, is pretty cool. He might be my favorite.

Tolfdir is about the only respectful guild mate you got really.

My Altmer really does love being the archmage in Skyrim though.
Only character I have who did all the master level things.

Its a shame you cant do something like the TG and really earn the title though.
I kind of feel like the college is only a half baked effort.
