Uncertain, but one may get the DB hit list by simply escaping justice in Helgin; no crime required.

Yeah but the only people MAD at you escaping would be the Imperials, and they would just hunt you down.

I mean really I guess I can RP that since my Nord was trying to join the Stormcloaks...he could have pissed someone off.
Still for an assassin YELLING AT SOMEONE AND CHARGING THEM HEAD ON? Really?

If I was writing that I would have had them to something more "assassin" like then that.

The one is using strange meat, the other is making a strange gravy. Pick your choice!

I couldn't help but notice some basic flaws in their design. Crafted gear allowing you to specialize without spending points, crafted gear being too powerful, but worst of all the undocumented armor cap that makes crafted light armor better than heavy armor (because the talents are fewer and better for light armor).

Crafting is pretty flawed. Making loot obsolete is a huge flaw. The armor cap is definately a very poor mechanic as well. But I disagree about Ligh Armor being better then Heavy. At high level, with maxed Smithing you might think so, because both kinds will have the same effect in the end.
But with Heavy you'll probably reach the cap in half the time it will take you in Light. It offers much better protection before hitting the cap. With Heavy you'll have a much easier playthrough overall (well, sneaking migh be more tricky... and inventory management).

I wear light armor not for the protection, okay I need the protection, but for the sneaking and ability to carry more loot around. Well, my dunmer does. My orc just wields the heaviest battleaxe he can find, dons the best heavy armor than goes in swinging.

God damn it.

I got a really annoying bug with my horse.
I cant use a weapon on horseback since my PC looks like they are STANDING on the horse.
If anyone knows how to fix that I would be much obliged.

Dark brotherhood is a normal random event. No crime needed.

Concerning your horse problem, do you use latest patch? If you play on Steam/PC version, try checking your game cache. Do you use any mods related to horses?

I RP it as the bandits I have killed throughout the game getting pissed off and paying the DB money to put my characters 6 feet under.

Hmmm? Just discovered something has changed leading up to Dawnguard; at least new for my game.

I have the leatest patch, but not DG yet since I am on the PC. However, when trying to sign up for the Companions (want to get Eorland as an instructor for Smithing), rather than sending me out to intimidate someone out of something as usual, Farkas sends me out to help squash the growing Vampiric problem in Skyrim.; quest was for one of the known Vampire lairs.

Nice foreshadowing!

I think she's actually inspired by her. In fact, the whole Dawnguard DLC has Underword and Van Helsing dripping over it.

Thats understandable to get ideas and even bits from.but it kind feels to similar.although i havent finished DG yet.so i cant say for curtain.i just found it somewhat uninspiring truth be told

Side note:i maxed out the Wolf perks today and holy crap.took bout an hour of random killings.no one will miss those ORC holds and dawnstar lol.the fact i one punch a bear across the landscape and be instant kill is too awesome

I like my vampire lord perks. Poisoned claws, summoning gargoyles, it's a lot of fun.

Sneaking in heavy armor is impossible- you will get detected as soon as you move.  There is also a stamina benefit from light armor.  Those are the major differences.  Everything else evens out between crafting and the Steed stone for heavy armor.

We'll just have to disagree on the other stuff, too.

Got Dawnguard and had my first vampire attack on a town. Had to reload multiple times because they kept killing multiple people, including the War Maidens chick. Is there anyway to avoid these?

I just walked around/in Falkreath and waited for the Dawnguard to ask me to join, I haven't had any of them attack me since I finished the DG questline.

No, it's not impossible. You won't get detected as soon as you move, not with a high Sneak skill and some proper enchantments.

Will have to disagree here; am currently Sneaking with Heavy armor, and have done it once or twice before, too. It is a little more difficult than Light, but the protection for my melee moments is worth the investment. After discovering here that Swimming was possible, I have been using it to boost perk usage elsewhere.

And I have yet to have Stamina issues with 200 pts, esp when adding a Restoration perk to link it with Health; no Steed Stone aid either.

* Have been using Adept Difficulty settings, if that makes any difference.

I think this is the only thing that I hate of Dawnguard, was lvl 8 on Adept difficulty and I get 2 Master Vampires.. had to reload like 3 time so that the War Maidens chick didn't die.

Anyone got a hoarding problem here? Whenever i open one of my cupboards in the Winterhold mages group, it lags because of the amount of **** i have just stashed in it.

I'm having issues selling them due to so many gems, i can't find a decent seller who has enough to even have my gems.

Invest in the riverwood trader shop. He'll then have 10000 gold.
Play a thief, fences all have 4000 gold.

And try to stash your loot not in one and only place. Use different cupboards at least ;)

This is an embarrassing question considering I've had the game since release day but....how does one invest in a trader? I've seen it occassionally mentioned and assumed it was an option I never noticed but now I've cash and wish to do it and can't see the option anywhere.

Seems it has to do with a Speech perk; see here for details:

Ah cheers, so it is. I very rarely look at that tree so its no wonder I missed it. I spent months wondering what people were on about.

Edit: Christ, you'd think I typed that with my elbows. I missed more letters than I typed.

FYI there are perks to counter that. I use them. And I sneak in heavy armor.

Yeah, it's pretty horrible. Reading up on it there's apparently someone called the "mysterious traveler" who goes into NPC's houses and kills them. Pretty disturbing and is making me consider uninstalling dawnguard and playing it once I've done a lot of stuff in the town. Hopefully this goes away once you do the dawnguard main story, but IDK.

Sneaking with Heavy Armor is very difficult and impractical, especially at early levels - however, it becomes much easier as you level up in the skill and get some good perks for both Sneak and Heavy Armor.

Or you can just bypass all of that and pay a visit to the Steed Stone - it's almost cheating IMHO. I usually don't take that sign as I'd rather have the experience bonuses of the Warrior/Mage/Thief/Lover.

Actually, I used to keep a set of regular clothes in my inventory that I could switch to at will when I needed to do some good old-fashioned espionage - the penalties to sneak magically disappear when you're wearing nothing but a shirt and some boots.

Just sayin'.

There are, but you have to sneak successfully to get the sneak perks and the armor perk is pretty deep in the tree.  I really don't know why you would do that.

Same with Steed Stone- why wouldn't you use it as a heavy armor character, prior to getting Conditioning?  No movement penalty and offsetting the weight of your armor are pretty big bonuses, even just for running around the countryside.

There's very little difference between Heavy and light armor, and in the end all arguments testifying to their differences become nullified.

For example:

Light armor lets you carry more stuff - It does, right up until your heavy armor skill reaches 70 and you take the conditioning perk, rendering your heavy armor weightless. Ie. as if you're wearing no armor at all

Heavy Armor gives you a better armor rating- It does, until you start smithing. Then even the most basic leather will reach the armor cap

It's easier to sneak in light armor -that's true, until you actually invest in the sneak tree, then there's no difference at all.  And even if you don't do alot of investing, the Muffle enchant on  a sett of boots is unusually effective on heavy armor, and you can usually find  muffle fairly early on  (level 6 or so)

Conclusion: the difference comes in... Aesthetics. IMO some of the light armor in this game is much better looking than any of the heavy stuff. But even then, Aesthetics are a matter of tastes, not game mechanics, so....
