No reason to wait. Just get the mod that removes level variations for levelled unique loot. It's a silly system anyway.

Maybe; maybe not. Some folks already complain about a system that can allow overpowered items in play, and at least this rule set curtails a few of them. I am not a fan of Item Lvl Restrictions, but for those w/o the discipline to restrict their own gameplay (eg; use grinding, exploits, etc), this appears to try and help them.

If I play a Rogue, why should I not pursue the TG quests - out of fear that my epic Nightingale equipment will be junk, because my level was too low when I earned it? Chillrend too.
Really bad idea.

But not everyone plays with such meta-gaming knowledge; some simply enjoy getting a nice set of gear as a reward. Not everyone searches the Wiki for min/max materials, and simply explore as they go along. While I tend to look for walkthrough details, my first playthrough tends to be less of this as I also like surprises occasionally.
If one did not know the item would improve by waiting until 30th, they may be content with whatever bonus appiled when found. However, if there was a way to continue to improve the item afterwards, that would be great, too!

This was one of the few things DA2 did right. Unique equipment levels up with you for a while. I don't like meta-gaming and waiting until level X to get unique gear. I also don't think making Chillrend a daedric equivalent that players can have when they are happy with dwarven is the answer either.

Pleasant surprises are the extra little bit of speed one gets when fleeing hired thugs (But she was a witch, and attacked me!), and the Circlets are finally presentable options. But the downside is if the foes get first shot (eg; Hired Thugs waiting outside city gates; thank goodness for just gaining Unrelenting Force Shout as a minor distraction). Way squishier than an armored Mage presently.
My current plan is to use Fortify Alteration and Mana Regeneration later, but Novice Destruction spells are still useful currently. But I am seeking useful advice from more experienced players as I have not used Alteration much at all, and Enchantment is fairly new to me, too.
Thanks ahead of time!

@Elhanan That's exactly the same thing I did. Minus the twin part though.
Simply attempted to create a lovely Breton lass, and when I made it to Riverwood, realized that I had seen that face somewhere else besides the mirror....

Enchantment is easy, you just load up on the cheaper soul gems and go to town. A useful combination for you might be to transmute ores (which builds your Alteration), make jewelry and enchant the jewelry to sell. Sleep before you do an enchanting round since that will build your skill faster.
Do you have a follower? Such a squishy build probably should have one.

I haven't done much with Alteration, usually I'd see it as a companion/ defensive school since I don't think there are any attacks in it. Maybe Paralysis would count. The mod Ancient Spells adds some good alteration spells from Morrowind and Oblivion, like Sea Stride, open locks, Slowfall, etc.

Thanks for the Soul Gem tips; will have to start carrying more empties.
But it was Yrkoon's earlier Armor observation that makes me believe this will be able to run solo, too. Armor is designed to be hit, and she is made to be unseen as much as possible. And it is my hope that the higher Alteration ranks and perks will be bolstered by Fortify; thus allowing for a desired barrier at any time as well as more inate MR.

Alteration is one of the magic schools I almost always invest in...for a little added defense and money making. I'm doing a two handed warrior/thief Nord now. X30 backstabbing ability combined with the wrecking power of a two handed weapon when sneak fails.
Yep; love me an archer that has more foes than a single bow can handle, and the imagined look on the faces of my enemy when they discover that closing with an Ebony Greatsword ain't the plan they had originally.
For now she is doing well, though a Dwarven bow simply looks far too bulky on this female form.
Question to all: Enchantment only? As she is not wearing armor, is Smithing advised to simply boost the weapons?

Not even light armor? I always do smithing...up the right side, for dragon and daedric, plus I grab arcane smithing too so I can upgrade my thief/assassin guild armors. You would probably want to take it even if it's only for weapons.

@ Alteration magic. Mage armor is reasonably effective (just make sure you have no armor to get the most out of it. Sure you might like those sneak boots, but they'll lower your armor rating). The mage armor route actually has some synergy with enchantment - enchant gloves and shoes with NO armor (the gloves can actually be hard to find) with the enchantments you want. Some of the higher level perks are quite good (esp. magic resistance). Invest in duel casting so mage armor lasts longer. You'll still need something to eliminate the baddies though
This is where I hope Enchanting shines a little more. Being able to tailor which effects on specific gear should fit the design fairly well.
However, as I only saw Mage Armor being the only perk affected by mixed gear, I am wearing the best available gear currently until I get that addition.

While I am wearing some light armor currently, and have a heavy shield, the high levels will probably be using only customized clothing. Main reason: have done the Arcane Warrior version already. And if I select Enchantment and Alteration, something else has to be missed.
