Jestina, have you considered just playing another game?

There's nothing out right now worth playing, so I dug this out of the library to get a more accurate assessment of it. I had it out for review when it first arrived but there were better games to play at that time. Of course reviewing the game itself can be a problem since you have to deal with the blindly rabid ES fanbase...that tends to attack when you point out the myriad problems in the game.

I didn't even touch on the awful scaling system or broken followers...or random dragons killing quest NPC's in my last summary.

Quest breaking bugs, numerous glitches on release, companions lacking character developement, shoddy companion a.i, are legitimate criticisms, but alot of your grievances are too opinionated, or due to the player's incompetence. Also you should stop it with the strawmanning towards the ES fanbase, there's way too many opinions amongst the fans especially towards Skyrim. Basically your insults towards ES fanbase makes you look childish.

Your assessment seems to be that you don't like it, which leads me back to...Why don't you just play something else? Why do you feel the need to review it? Unless you're being paid to do so, its a quite frankly strange practice. If you have a library to dig into, then dig out something that you do like.

Most of us have been playing the game since 11/11/11, we've seen everything that you're complaining about and we either like it, made peace with it or realise you're plain wrong. I really don't see what you're trying to achieve.

Maybe I just find it amusing that so many of you are willing to swallow all the bad things in this game...and not bring those problems up. That and the fact that this game was so highly overrated. You paid nearly sixty dollars or more for a bugged product, and you don't care?

Jestina you are like someone who says:
HEY MY FOOD TASTES LIKE ****!

Then you keep eating it, and say again IT STILL TASTES LIKE ****!
We get what you are saying, and now its just plain annoying to listen to.

If you dont like it, DONT PLAY IT.
Its as simple as that.

I dont like The Witcher, or the Sims, or Fable so I dont play those games.

I find it amusing that you're forcing yourself to play a game that you don't like, just so you can moan about it to people who do like it, who have liked it for over half a year and will continue to like it long after you've given up on attempting to troll. We paid for a game we like, I don't know if you paid for it, but if you did then that would be more laughable than us paying for a game we like. Not that I'd find it amusing or anything.

Would you rather this thread be like, the Mass Effect 3 or Dragon Age 2 forums? Constant complaining and nitpicking? If you can't overlook the bad and enjoy the game, maybe you should stop playing it? There is no perfect game :/.

That and the fact that this game was so highly overrated.

That's a personal opinion, I'd agree with you if I bought the game on console, but with modding on PC the game is fantastic, in my opinion. YMMV.

You paid nearly sixty dollars or more for a bugged product, and you don't care?

I can't recall a game being released without bugs. Games are always going to have bugs. Skyrim was actually pretty smooth I thought compared to Morrowind and Oblivion release. I'd say it was less buggy than DA:O or DA:2 near release if you want something closer to home.

I find it amusing that your so called objective view is clearly permiated by such bias.

Yes the ES games are buggy, so are many of Bethseda's games, something which we all here know, and no, we're not sweeping that under the proverbial carpet. But, we do realise that when we buy a game from them, so it's somewhat expected and we can push for fixes, which Bethesda have been doing, fairly well at addressing.

Frankly the system of attributes which replaced in Skyrim which you assert was a bad thing I see as a good thing paticularly as Oblivion's minor and major trait system was a pain if I didn't spend extra time pouring over the descriptions and If I made a mistake, when allocating attributes or changed my mind I was stuck. Here I have a bit more flexibility.

As to the crafting system, yes you can open it up to abuse, but then you're gimping the system. If you want to grind out daedric armour at level 20 go ahead. Just don't complain as you knew exactly what you were doing when you manipulated the game mechanics.

When it comes to characters and storyline go play the Witcher 2 if you want extensively developed characters, political machinations that would make Machiavelli proud, and astory driven game. Skyrim is a different kind of beast. No defined character, looser plot line, bigger world to explore, more characters but less development.
I've enjoyed both immensely, but for different reasons. What you propose is blending the two together. That is a pipe dream. No developer will ever be able to fund a game on the scale of Skyrim with the depth of detail from the Witcher 2, some elements are simply mutually exclusive and others are simply not practical in a business sense when producing the product.

To use your car annalogy, If I want something fast and streamlined I'll pick up a Mercedes SLK, if I want something big and laid back I'll pick up a saloon car. You don't get both at the same time, that's the way things work.

Wow.  Just... wow.

You know what I Hate about  Planescape: Torment?

1) The combat was Awful.  With a capital A.
2) there was little to no character customization  (literally.  Couldn't wear armor; couldn't  name your character;  Couldn't customize your appearance; couldn't pick a gender; couldn't even pick your class until later in the game.)
3) It was a generally ugly game all around.
4) Rubicon was was the most tedius  dungeon/concept/idea in the history of gaming.  I still have nightmares about it.
5) It was extremely buggy, and the 2 patches they released for it didn't fix much at all.

Yet. . . .  Planscape: Torment is the greatest game I've ever played.  No no,   Better than that.  It was one of the  greatest forms of entertainment ever.  I rank it up there with Sex.

So....You find it amusing that we're willing to  "swallow" a games faults?    I find it even more amusing that I seem to be talking to someone who's new to gaming.  Show me a game you love and I'll BURY you with its faults, and then I'll act all Derp and ask you why you're willing to swallow these faults and still love that game,

Ok, we'll add blindness to your list of physical traits.  This 900 page thread is crawling with Bug reports, complaints, not-so-stellar reviews, and whines galore.  Just like any huge thread for any huge game.  In other words, everything is par the course here.   You're just blind.

Jestina wrote...

So?  There's nothing less  relevant  than the fact that  the rest of the world  may think this  game is possibly better than it is.  I would still love this game to  death if everyone else hated it.

Jestina wrote...

Not at all.   And If I had known then what I know now, I'd have paid 600 dollars for Skyrim, and I'd still be here today begging Bethesda to release more awesome-in-a-box  for me to spend my money on.

Yes, pointing out glaringly broken game mechanics is nitpicking. Keeping looking at the game with your Bethesda blinders on.

Beyond game mechanic issues...the story itself is standard fare. There's nothing that really draws you or even gives you a reason to care about the events going on around you. There is a load of missed potential with the main quest, racial tensions and so on. Why do they even bother with the racial issues in the story if the natives just ignore your race anyways? I find myself grasping for reasons to pull myself into events after trudging through hours of this game...but there's nothing there. The guild quests were also badly done...and I felt pushed through them. Huh...I just joined yesterday and i'm already the guildmaster, wow. The large scope of the game is what kills the RP elements, but I don't see them doing away with quanity and focusing more on quality any time soon.

LOL you're like the little engine that could. You're this forum's energizer bunny. How cute.

Perhaps we need to get a moderator in here to stop your spamming.

Oh no, here we go again with Bethesda fanboy comparing something modern to something twelve years old.

Aah, and a new rule surfaces: it's not a game unless its new.

Alright then, you know what I hate about Witcher 2?

1) the UI sucks ass
2) Voiced Protagonists grate on my nerves.  They are an innate flaw, no matter the game.
3) character customization is lacking
4) the game is unbalanced. surviving is a struggle early, then later you become totally invinceable.

Yet. . .. . . Witcher 2 is one of the best games I've ever played. Id rank it just below Torment, Skyrim and BG2.

Don't bring up that touchy subject with today's gamers.

As for witcher...that's not a game I like anyways. Too clicky plus their idea of maturity is lots of sex scenes. The main character is also a male in Witcher, something else I can't get into playing.

No, we don't. A lot of us here are longtime TES veterans, and we know bugs just come with the territory. We got over it long ago and now we enjoy these games for what they are.

If that's not a good enough answer for you, then feel free to continue flogging a dead horse for another dozen pages or so.

Getting away from the troll for a bit. Those thunderstorms are pretty damn cool, I travelled from the north west of the map to the south east today and it's the most relaxed I've been all week. Thunderstorms as you're travelling through The Reach are very relaxing.

Everything I see now that I never noticed before I automatically think "DAWNGUARD!!" I found three free horses out in the wild today, I've never seen this before. It's probably been there all along and I never noticed. I'm noticing an awful lot of naked corpses on the road too. I've been on the road entirely for ages now, I'd need to get to a city soon and do some business. Also I'd need to find out where the hell Meeko has gotten to. I enjoy having him around.

Crashes are getting very annoying though, being rejected for the beta makes them slightly more annoying lol.

I think a new DLC which expands more on the Falmer's possible invasion of the surface world would be damn good. I've enjoyed Dawnguard immensely so far. But it's something I'd definately like to see more of in future DLC, especially as hints are made in "the Falmer A study" a book from the vanilla Skyrim.

And the Dawnguard adds a new Falmer and a Charrus, so be nice to see them expand uon it.

That's another thing actually, Olaf. A sudden upsurge in attacks by random Khajit's on the roads. I dunno what the hell I did to anger the cat people but they better pack it in or I'm going unleash the dogs of war on them...get it?....I'll get my coat. Seriously though, I've been attacked by more Khajit than bears and wolves combined since installing Dawnguard.

I did spot one chaurus on the surface, no idea what the hell that was about. My slightly retarded sidekicks were collectively kicking the crap out of something, I went to investigate and discovered a dead chaurus. It was just random in the middle of nowhere hanging out with some mudcrabs.

^At what point in that post did I imply they weren't? I asked the other day if they were a new thing and Yrkoon pointed out they weren't. See how that works? Something I hadn't seen before cropped up in my game, I enjoyed it. Others have already seen this in their game. I've had the game since November and haven't seen everything, I'm very, very happy about this.

Big difference between blatantly ignoring features just so you can complain about game mechanics. I'm done even reading your posts, Jestina. You're just trolling and you're quite frankly terrible at it.

I get the Clone Army in Whiterun, and the new dragons have yet to show up.

^I dunno if the Khajit's and Chaurus had anything to do with Dawnguard. Could be just coincidences and random encounter's I've never seen before. Someone, I think Happy Daiz, said they only saw the headless horseman for the first time recently, so it's probably just vanilla stuff I've not seen before.

I've yet to encounter a new dragon.

Better than some of you playing oblivious to bugs and obvious game issues.

Speaking of which, here's another irritating one I keep encountering. Lining up an arrow shot from hidden, then the target pulls this Matrix action and slides several feet off to the side....ruining the shot of course and alerting everyone in the area.
